Got the vBShout working?
My guess is the shoutbox vanishes, because the PlugIn of vBShout uses HTML comments in the FORUMHOME template for a search/replace to hook itself in there at runtime.

If those comments get compressed out it doesn't find it's spots to place itself in.

I didn't take a look yet how my RegEx have been integrated in this, but in my realtime compressor all (and only, to keep compression high) comments containing a "[" are ingnored/left.
This was initially to get compatibility with AnyMedia, but can also be used to make other needed HTML comment "immun" to the compression.

Maybe this 2ct help a bit :)

Cheers

This hack does nothing permanent. You can leave the hack installed, just use "Uncompress Templates" to return them back to normal; and figure out which template you need to add to the ignore list.

It's not my fault you if you are too "forum" ignorant to be able to add the appropriate templates to the "ignore template" settings.

Princeton 02-15-2006 12:37 PM

works perfectly ...
99.9% of the problems that are occurring are on sites with INVALID XHTML/HTML.

I recommend you place a WARNING NOTICE on first post:
In order to reap the rewards of the COMPRESS FORUM TEMPLATES addon, YOUR STYLE MUST BE VALID XHTML--AT THE VERY LEAST VALID HTML. CHECKING FOR VALID CODE CAN BE DONE VIA HTTP://VALIDATOR.W3.ORG.

Hornstar 02-26-2006 05:14 AM

how much faster is this making your sites run? And how much bandwidth is everyone saving? (If you answer this, let me know how much bandwidth you use a month.)

Thanks

This hack completely ruins https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=101368 and i even put up all the photoplog templates to be ignored and it's still not working.

simply add

navbar to ignore list.. if its anything else its your install problem, as it wasnt working for me at all, but then i added navbar, now works perfect.

make sure you have it set out right aswell..

Trigunflame 03-06-2006 03:52 AM

Indeed.. it was already added to the first post anyway showing the most common templates that cause problems.

Gizmo5h1t3 03-06-2006 11:27 AM

weird, photoplog works fine with this installed........i had no need to add that to the ignore list?

(version 2.0.0 btw)

MissKalunji 03-06-2006 11:35 AM

how is it going? does it really speed up loading?

Ya it kinda differs from setup to setup, alot of it has to do with conditionals that can be broken quite easily I believe.

We'll see.

You are not gonna notice much of a difference on a fast connection; but over the longterm it will save you much bandwidth ;)

As for your current situation, looking that vbshoutbox hack, it seems that hes using the template "forumhome_vbshout", for most of the html/javascript.

1. Uncompress all templates
2. I would probably place his html back in the forumhome_vbshout template and forumhome_vbshout_archive, just replace all of it.
3. add forumhome_vbshout and forumhome_vbshout_archive to the $b_t (bad templates) array as shown in the code in install.txt (Just look in there and you will see how ive already got 4 templates that are ignored by default, just add forumhome_vbshout and any other problematic templates in the array).
4. Compress Templates :)

ok trying to resolve that issue as well i think i added in the right spot but didn't work maybe you can look at it thanks

thanks in advance

Did you add the list of templates I have in the first post, under "Common Templates That May Need To Be Added to Ignore Settings:" to your ignore setting?

Its in your vbulletin options in your Control Panel. Look for the category, find the setting and add them to it.

I really really need help trying to figure out how to get this problem resolved. All of the hack's show they are still installed on my site, but yet, none of them will appear now......

I have removed the hack's here, in reverse order and still no luck getting my forum's to work correctly......

www.insanemustangs.com username: test Password: tester feel free to have a look and see.......we really miss the shoutbox feature.

Please reinstall the template compressor. And click "Uncompress Templates". That should restore your templates to normal form.

hotwheels 03-13-2006 03:30 PM

i have done this and still didn't revert back, and no i can no longer read my pm's.....

hotwheels 03-13-2006 11:10 PM

Please, if you use this program, back up all of your software........

DementedMindz 03-13-2006 11:25 PM

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showt...hlight=hellcat where it shows on the footer how much is compressed? i kinda liked that so i could tell but in the end its your call just thought it would be nice to see
