All that's been upgraded is the versions of which the styles were last edited on.

evenmonkeys 03-18-2006 06:54 PM

I have updated the copyright notice in all Kirsch styles.

Son Hai 03-20-2006 01:04 PM

thnx, I want live demo... :D

evenmonkeys 03-20-2006 07:13 PM

I don't really have a live demo anymore.

CoryHawk 03-24-2006 07:36 AM

For some reason my banner.jpg doesn't show up in the gif version :(

Any thoughts?

evenmonkeys 03-24-2006 07:52 AM

Which xml? Fluid or fixed?

Stifler 03-24-2006 07:57 AM

Definitely one of the best looking skins available.

evenmonkeys 03-24-2006 08:00 AM

Thank you, Stifler. Really appreciate that. =D

CoryHawk, make sure your images folder is located at forums/images/kirsch. That's the location for the kirsch directory. If that's correct, make sure the following images are in the misc folder: banner.jpg, banner_01.jpg, and banner_02.jpg. If those files exist in the misc folder and you're still having the problem, make sure the style is correctly pointing to it. You can do this by viewing the All Style Options. =D Let me know.

CoryHawk 03-24-2006 08:44 AM

Below is my Header File.

Code:

<table style="border: 1px solid #666666;" width="$stylevar[outertablewidth]" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0" align="center">
<tr>
<td align="top">

<!-- logo -->
<a name="top"></a>
<table border="0" width="$stylevar[outertablewidth]" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" align="center">
<tr>
        <td align="center"><a href="$vboptions[forumhome].php$session[sessionurl_q]"><img src="$stylevar[titleimage]" border="0" alt="$vboptions[bbtitle]" /></a></td>
</tr>
</table>
<!-- /logo -->

<!-- content table -->
$spacer_open

$_phpinclude_output

I have a folder called..

www/forums/images/kirsch/images/misc that has the 3 banner jpgs in it.

My Title Image is pointing to "images/kirsch/misc/banner.jpg"

That all correct?

evenmonkeys 03-24-2006 08:58 AM

Okay, your kirsch directory seems a bit off. Your directory should look this like:

For this case: www/forums/images/kirsch/misc
For the entire style: www/forums/images/kirsch

If you're trying to setup the style differently, just change the area where you specify the banner location to match your liking.

CoryHawk 03-24-2006 10:01 AM

I apologize... I misspoke.. The dir is correct. "www/forums/images/kirsch/misc" (where www is my ROOT web dir or public_html)

Still doesn't work.. if I add a word "Testing" in text before the <img src> tag in the header.. I can see the text just fine at the top.. but any img tags or jpgs don't show up :(

http://forums.pokerdatabaseonline.com is the url

evenmonkeys 03-24-2006 06:56 PM

Sorry about not answering last night. I couldn't stay awake any longer and passed out. =P

I assume you got it working as I can see the image just fine. If you're still having the problem, let me know.

I've updated the banner in both versions as well. They were not the proper title.

CoryHawk 03-24-2006 07:43 PM

That is VERY ODD!

I cannot see them in FireFox nor the IE.

Hmmm I cannot see the top image on your site as well.. Very Very Strange. I guess it was working from the start.. I just can't see it. Any thoughts on that?

LOL

evenmonkeys 03-24-2006 07:52 PM

Ohhhh. I'm willing to bet you have a pop-up blocker that's blocking it. Images of a certain width and of certain type are blocked out by pop-up blockers. There are usually ways of allowing it to show.

When I turn my pop-up blocker on, it blocks out the image. O_o

CoryHawk 03-24-2006 08:47 PM

I don;'t know whats wrong.. I can't get it to show :(

evenmonkeys 03-24-2006 09:31 PM

Turn your pop-up blocker off and refresh the page. I bet it shows up.

Mattikana 03-26-2006 07:55 PM

Can you replace paperclip.gif with paperclip.png in the PNG version please? Remember?

evenmonkeys 03-27-2006 02:25 AM

There is no need to make an image for your style. You seem to be the only person having this problem. I am not sure why your style is looking for paperclip.png as there is no png version of it. The editor directory was not touched whatsoever. I have looked over the newest versions and I am not coming across the same problem you are. Maybe it would be easiest for you to download the newer versions and overwrite the templates you're having problems with.

I'm not the only one with this problem. I know someone who recently installed this style this for the first time and he has the problem with the paperclip too. (Also using Kirsch PNG)
Check it out yourself.

evenmonkeys 03-27-2006 10:12 PM

Ohhhh. It's because you didn't install the hack that's required.

Kirsch PNG Description
This style was mainly created for FireFox and Opera users. It uses mostly PNG files as they show up much sharper. However, this style has been designed to work for IE users with the help of a released Extension. If you would like this style to work for IE users, you'll need to install a very fast plugin. It's quick and simple, and in my opinion, worth the extra ten seconds of your day.

Plugin: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=93415

Hmm... I told him to install it and now it works, but I installed this plugin ages ago and still doesn't work on my board. I'll check in detail what's wrong.

evenmonkeys 03-28-2006 04:47 PM

It may just be easier to switch to the GIF version. Most of your customized templates would be able to just overwrite any of the templates of the GIF style.

Otherwise, if you prefer the PNG style, the problem is probably where you set the location on the plug-in itself. I know it took me a few minutes to get it working. But yeah...

Andrew K 04-01-2006 01:01 AM

Probably the best style EVAR!

evenmonkeys 04-02-2006 07:35 AM

Starting April 7th, I will no longer be updating the PNG version of Kirsch. There are many reasons behind this, but the most obvious reason is that there have been far too many problems with people not knowing how to properly set it up. Rather than messing with that, I have decided that it'd be a lot easier to just work with the GIF style. I will still provide support for those of you using the PNG version, but I would strongly suggest updating to the GIF version.

If you're worried about losing template modifications, you are able to update from PNG to GIF fairly easily without uploading any XMLs. Do this by erasing all replacement variables within the Kirsch style, and by uploading the GIF image folder. There are also a couple templates inwhich you'll need to revert.

Those are as follows:
editor_toolbar_on
editor_toolbar_on
showthread_quickreply

I do not believe there are any other template. If anything looks strange though, let me know. =D

xinnyburt 04-13-2006 01:26 AM

Very nice style Yarub. *clicks install*

cudaxtreme 04-15-2006 03:10 PM

Hi there,

I have a problem of the skin breaking when the "table" is too long. I have a long list of options for users to key in their profile but the skin breaks when it exceeds a certain length. Any idea how to fix it?

http://img101.imageshack.us/img101/5664/temp5xi.jpg

evenmonkeys 04-15-2006 09:42 PM

Ohhh. I see what the problem is. The image is not repeating itself both vertically and horizontally. It will be fixed in the GIF style as soon as I can.

Aclikyano 04-16-2006 02:20 AM

Having a problem with this skin. (Fixed version).
All the images display as they should.......

When I click on a forum it shows a cannot display page.
When I click on a TOPIC..... it goes to it no problem.

SO I went into the admin CP and found it had to be "REVERTED"........
I REVERTED the "SHOWTHREADS PART"....... and it said ALL TEMPLATES UP TO DATE.

REFRESHED / LOGGED OUT / LOGGED IN...... Still I cannot click on a board without a "404 page"
but I can click on a topic and it will go to it...... Im stumped.

wierd aint it..........

evenmonkeys 04-16-2006 04:27 AM

The GIF or PNG version? Either way, that shouldn't be a problem from Kirsch. Very few templates are modified. The only ones that did get modified were to change an image name or add in a global link. Would it be possible to provide screenshot(s) or a link to your website?

I'm not fully understanding your problem.

I have fixed the problem. Let me know if you're still having issues.

Thanks but can I modify the settings within the admincp? I dont have ftp access at the moment.

Btw, can I ask where can I change the grey background behind the banner and at the footer? Thanks alot! :cool:

evenmonkeys 04-18-2006 12:37 AM

You can do all of that from the All Style Options section within the Kirsch style via the Style Manager. To remedy the problem I fixed, go into the All Style Options and find the panel surround section.

Replace the background field with:
HTML Code:

#D5D8E5 url(images/kirsch/gradients/gradient_panelsurround.jpg) repeat
In the next section below (Panel), replace the background field with:
HTML Code:

#E4E7F5 url(images/kirsch/gradients/gradient_panel.jpg) repeat
As for the header and footer, they'll use various classes so I can't really specify exactly what to change. The header and footer templates are located at the top of the All Style Options page. If you have any specific requests, I can probably help ya with them.

cudaxtreme 04-18-2006 01:08 AM

Thanks! that fixed the problem.

I'm trying to remove the grey area behind the banner, can you please advice?

evenmonkeys 04-18-2006 04:02 AM

Ohhh. That's the page background. What color would you like it to be?

cudaxtreme 04-18-2006 04:34 AM

white please. so that will be #FFFFFF?
Where exactly can I change it?

evenmonkeys 04-18-2006 05:35 AM

Find:
HTML Code:

        <td align="center">
Replace with:
HTML Code:

        <td class="page" align="center">

cudaxtreme 04-18-2006 01:42 PM

Sorry but which template to change?

evenmonkeys 04-18-2006 08:01 PM

Your header template. If you have not changed your header template at all, that should be the only instance of it. If there are more than one of those, you'll want to look for the one with the title image in it.

cudaxtreme 04-19-2006 10:22 AM

Thanks! Found a way around it!

evenmonkeys 04-19-2006 03:41 PM

Maybe it'd be best if I added that in as a default option as it looks better for people who change the banner to something smaller. =D We'll see. Glad you got it worked out.
