That would rule.

Mikecp421 02-01-2006 04:40 PM

mine still doesn't work.

Bro_Joey_Gowdy 02-02-2006 03:45 PM

Any updates ?

Gottcha 02-05-2006 01:43 AM

installed and thread get posted but when i try to acces the thread i get:

you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

Mikecp421 02-06-2006 06:43 PM

what version you running? I have 3.5.3 and it doesn't work at all, but the options are in the ACP.

realcasinos 02-07-2006 02:23 PM

The_Rayman 02-14-2006 10:39 AM

okay, installation worked as a charm... now for the generation of the thread...
it doesn't appear... i set the user to create to 1 (webadmin), but... when i run the cron, nothing happens... yes it does tell me it has completed... that's it.

Any ideas?

Is this even possible?

ozmazdaclub 03-03-2006 06:47 AM

is it possible to have the thread closed automatically so it becomes more like an announcement post almost?

Phalynx 03-15-2006 10:28 AM

This plugin is working for me, but only if I execute it manually in the scheduled tasks. Running automatically it creates only the correct log entries, eg. Birthday "Thread created for x,x,x", but no thread at all. I'm using v1.0.1 of the Hack with vB 3.5.4

What's wrong?

Andreas 03-23-2006 03:12 AM

I can't fix a problem that I can't reproduce :)
Though, feel free to send me a PM with all necessary logins (ACP, FTP, phpMyAdmin) and i'll take a look.

Mikecp421 03-23-2006 09:43 AM

mine doesn't create a thread or anything

Andreas 03-23-2006 12:25 PM

In the case of Phalynx it turned out to be this Hack:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=96018

Please check if this could be the issue for you too.

Phalynx 03-23-2006 12:26 PM

Works now for me, thanks.

Roms 03-31-2006 02:35 AM

Thanks, my members loved this on 3.0. :)

MysticMoon 04-01-2006 04:13 AM

Thanks for the hack :)
No problems installing & it's working perfect.

One question though, on the 3.0.x version I was able to change the post icon used instead of the default, can I do that with this one? If so, can you point me in right direction? thanks

Tralala 04-06-2006 10:24 AM

Is this Daylight Savings Times aware? I've had it working great for months. And just today I see it's posted a Birthday thread, but the title of the post it made had yesterday's date on it. Wondering if it has something to do with Sunday's DST change.

there is a hack( atleast i think there is) that when you post a thread it has an option to close it after the first post. i don't see why you can't alter that to do what you need....maybe i am worng and unfortunately i can't remember the hack/mod...sorry i will search and post here if i find it. at anyrate i know i have the option when i post the first post in a thread.

secondly i would like to say that i have this installed along with the birthday style and the birthday style hack....works beautifully!!!

Mikecp421 04-09-2006 11:40 PM

omg I just reinstalled it and made me the thread starter and it worked. Maybe because I previously created a Birthday Bot user to do the announcing?

FLMom 04-10-2006 03:31 AM

Hi there! First off I want to say thank you for this! What a wonderful idea :D

I have a small problem though, I have double checked to make sure that I have it going to the correct board, and it is still not there. Although it does show up on the main page of my site in the recent threads module, but shows no forum. When I click on the thread it takes me to an error page, obviously because there is no forum. So, how can I make the thread actually show up in the forum I wanted?

Thanks for any help!

xfaethorx 04-13-2006 06:18 AM

vbbux gives a points donation on birthdays by default. :)

Question ... does this still create threads for banned members? (or other groups like miserable users)

peterska2 05-01-2006 08:49 PM

Installed, thanks.

Does it not already work in 3.6? That'll keep me from upgrading for sure.

Tyegurl 06-23-2006 03:30 AM

The product.xml needs a little editing. If Andreas doesnt mind, I have modified this to work with 3.6 RC1 and will upload the changed xml file if it is ok.

outlaw621 07-13-2006 01:03 PM

I have tried to PM Andreas but the PM box is full. If Andreas reads this or anyone speaks to Andreas, I have ported this to work with 3.6 RC1 and would like to release it with permission from Andreas.

Tralala 07-26-2006 02:53 PM

I noticed something strange with this hack and my current install of 3.5.3:

I disabled it in my AdminCP for a day... but noticed that it still posted Birthday threads.

I suspect that the Cron/scheduled task kicks in regardless, and since there's no way to "temporarily deactivate" a task (short of editing it's frequency, or deleting the task and adding it back later)... there's no way to temporarily disable this hack from doing it's job.

What I'll do now in the meantime is re-direct the posts to a hidden forum the few times I don't want it posting publicly.

But it would be nice if disabling the plug-in actually turned it off. Or if there was an on/off toggle in the setup/prefs for the add-on itself.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Shazz 07-26-2006 03:53 PM

Ive had some problems, as in it won't run the thread by it self the schedule task thing dosen't work it seems like =\
I always have to run it manually..

hey try contacting Churchmedia he was the original coder.

I'm sure Andreas wouldn't care if you released it or not, but church may have something to add.

Darwa 08-08-2006 12:57 AM

Managed to get things sorted yet Outlaw?

I'd really love this to run in 3.6.0 :)
