Umm, true but the mods here would frown on this if they knew I think as they aren't in to violating copyrights.

I know I released them already, THAT was because peeps over at vbulletin.com said MS allowed it. Well guess what? They were wrong and MS emailed them and they had to totally redo one of their customers sites due to this. That's why I said something now, if you check my thread I linked to above this you will see I said the same thing there. The point is, I should not have just listened to someone, I should have checked it out myself and now that I have I can say that I was wrong and that releasing these is, in fact, against MS copyright. That's all :D

I still use the XP icons in my site style because MS hasn't emailed me yet, but it's hilarious because this www.saith.com site was using them and I asked them about the legality after I found out just out of curiosity. They immediately took the site down and replaced all the MS graphics. :eek:

btw look at the buttons of this site. it's taken from XP. + there's many more sites using same looks of xp it's like no body care about ms copyrights :pirate:

Yes I noticed that. The thing is, if you change 30% of a graphic it is considered an original work. I don't know if that's how/why they do it here or what and like I said, I still use the XP icons on my site. I just want people to know because if you run a business site and use them you are opening yourself up to a potential lawsuit. So my posting here was just an FYI kind of thing:D

So the final ruling is MSN Smilies are illegal to use?! Where can I get a confirmation?

on Microsoft's site or you can follow the link to the thread at vbulletin.com that I posted and the link to where it says that is in there. I really don't think u need to worry about it but it's best to know rather than have a "What I don't know can't hurt me attitude"

Was just browsing the VBoards looking for a different style that appealed to me so I could steal their board buttons! :supwink: This board is actually pretty nice but I am in competition with my partner Mav who is already using these colors for his board style (he calls his style Silverstone) and I am gonna whomp his design when mine is finished (called VooDoo). Anyhoo, I have a ton of smilies, so feel free to jack the ones you want and upload them to your own server (please). Have a good one all.
