If it times out you can restart the install from where it stopped by going to the ... /install/upgrade.php script in your browser. Sometimes you have to restart it this way multiple times. |
With godaddy you have to usually enter a hostname for mysql. I do not believe 127.0.0.1 will work. I am assuming though that he entered it because it would not connect in the first place.

The sql is set to localhost but the solution came from Vbulletin.com and I am not to thrilled. After trying to install VB5 around 50 times and rebuilding the SQL over and over the solution was to run the upgrade and that solved it. What stinks is that I tried four other CMS and Forum software and they all installed just fine and have more add-ons

I would never suggest godaddy for hosting, I'd stay away in my experience.

godaddy is only good for hosting domain.not for server hosting.

The vBulletin installation or upgrade process is a pain on GoDaddy because vBulletin sends a lot of requests to the GoDaddy server within seconds or even within 100ms at times. The firewall of GoDaddy simply blocks you for a couple of minutes when that happens to prevent (D)DoS attacks.

I have a couple clients that have used it successfully but it can be a pain at times especially with a larger site.

Honestly, there are cheaper and better domain registrars out there as well.
