DragonByte Technologies is proud to present version 1.1 of [DBTech] Advanced @User Tagging.
This version introduces several major new features that users have requested, and some others we were unable to fit in v1.0. Statistics Page: Display which users are the most active, both at tagging and being tagged. Same with mentions. This is a great way to encourage your members to utilise the feature and increase activity! Post Previews: See the context of the post you were mentioned in! (Hard limit of 20 characters either way in Lite version) BBCode Integration: A button for mentioning has been added to the BBCode toolbar – Users no longer need to remember the @; command. Change look of Mentioned usernames: Allows you to use BBCode to make mentioned usernames stand out. Only underline is available in Lite. Per Forum Settings: Allows you to turn tagging on/off per forum (disables the tag cloud) and mentioning per forum (Disables mention notifications from that forum) We hope you enjoy this new version :) |
This is in the 3.8 section of vBulletin.org and the header at the top of this thread says it's for 3.8.4, but the text file in the zip package says "Advanced @User Tagging (Lite) requires at least vBulletin 4.0.2. It may not function correctly in vBulletin 4.0.1 or lower."
Which version of vBulletin is this for? I'm considering getting the pro version, but I run 3.8.4. |
OK, ignore the above - it works on 3.8.4.
It's a fantastic system! I've nominated it for MOTM and purchased the Pro version; this is a really good idea. There are a couple of oddities (such as only counting the first mention in a post, so if you mention more than one person it doesn't appear in the Mentions tab on their profile), and the Statistics page seems to confuse mentions and tags (someone is listed as top tag when all he has done is mention, for example), but I'm sure these will get ironed out. Also, the option to not show the @ in the Admin CP resets to "Yes" every time you save the settings, and if you put the tag box below the thread it simply disappears. And an option for users to opt-out would be great; I've had a couple complain about being bugged by thread mentions when they're not interested in following them. |

Thanks for your support, it means a lot :D Fillip |
Fantastic, thanks!
One minor phrase suggestion (very much not vital) is to clarify the headings on the Statistics page. Where it says "Top Mentions" and "Top Tags" it might be clearer to say "Most Frequent Mentioners" and "Most Frequent Taggers". Not a major issue at all; it's just a clarification thing so that folks are clear as to what the table is showing them. I did search in phrases to see if I could change it, but it lokos like it's hard-coded. Did I mention that I think this is a really good idea? I don't know why nobody thought of it before, but it's one of those "this is how things should work" ideas. |

Thanks for the compliment on the idea as well - it's rare the designer ever gets any credit in this game for coming up with the ideas that make a difference haha!(Can you tell that's me? =P) Iain |
Hi there, I upgraded to the new one. But now in my ACP on the left with the Usertag settings....(Forum Manager and Settings) I get a database error when I click any of those. I also do not have the little icon (speaker) on my editor toolbar.
Sorry for always having problems. EDIT: When I click on Test this product, I get this "The product called'DragonByte Tech: Advanced User Tagging (Lite)' does not have any Template-Modifications, is not active or all Template-Modifications for this product have been disabled. Please go back and check your input." Don't know if this has any relevance!? |
One problem I see is that there are no permission settings. Someone that is not logged in can go about tagging members anytime they want and I'm afraid that could be annoying to certain members if the right guest come along and started playing around.
|
I also now get this when posting something new:
Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in /home/thebull/public_html/forums/dbtech/usertag/hooks/postdata_presave.php on line 53 |

It sounds like the installer script didn't run properly, maybe a re-import will fix it :) If not, please post the database error and I'll investigate :) Quote:
