How is this any different than notices?

thetgc 12-19-2010 01:51 AM

It would be great if it also sent a private message and an email to the user aswell... that way, they would visit the forum aswell

Zachery 12-19-2010 01:56 AM

couldn't you just use a notice?

Does this work for 4.1.1?

I think the difference and benefit over 'notices' is the use of the three supplied variables.

x user name
x number of days
etc

An email would be a winning feature for this mod. I originally tested it out because I misread and thought it was the famous, "We haven't seen you in X days, so come back to the forum" reminder mod.

You can use a users username, the advantage looks to be just number of days a user hasnt posted, which IMO doesn't really matter all that much.

You could use the conditionals in an ad also to do the same thing. Problem with any method you use is the target member(s) have to be logged in. If you have those JA's that sign up just to say they belong to this and that forum, odds are you'll never see them again. Plus the flogging your DB's gonna get checking to see if the logged in member(s) meets the criteria of seeing the message especially if you have a large member base.
Checking for 0 posters is like spammers, nature of the beast and a PITA.
Might be prudent to post a policy that states after x amount of days and 0 posts your account will be deleted. And add that to the new registration and force an acknowledgement. After say 45 days you go to the ACP, pull up the 0 posters and deleted them.
