Up until now I've been doing a simple manual file edit to add this functionality to the forum, using the mod found at https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=124334, and this has required me to re-edit the file each time the forum is updated. Having it as a plugin makes it just that little bit easier and the added admin settings is useful to.

All nested quotes are automatically put into italics. Can that be undone to go back to normal text? Thanks!

Wasn't it default in older versions of vb? I've missed this feature but.. couldn't it go with a button to allow the choice of normal quoting and nested quoting?

I don't think many forums would want it to be default. The average forum poster quotes more than needed as it is and all that would do would be to increase the size of the database.

You misunderstood it. I'm not suggesting that it should be default in vbulletin.

What I'm saying is that this modification should be for a small button next to the quote button (like the multi-quote button https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2009/09/10.gif ), to allow it as a choice when quoting a post.

That only requires changing the bbcode_quote template.
I don't have the time to design and create a new button, if you want to, feel free to.
