I agree. While $599 in of itself is not a terrible price for a smart phone, when you consider that it's Cingular exclusive, it basically means they are free to charge whatever they want, so you know that it will be quite a lot. When all is said and done, the phone will likely run you well over $1,000.

Remeber, you have to switch services and most of the time you have to pay close to 200 dollar FINES for ending your current service. So add that plus the cost of the phone and service and you end up somewhere in the 800-900 dollar range for a TRENDY FAD PHONE. Not to mention you are forced into a 2 year plan, and on the kynote they said you had to pay for the EDGE service, it's required, so guess what, your forced into no less than an 80 dollar a month plan.

Just tell us that you don't have the money for one!:D

I prefer the Nokia N95 over the iPhone. Its got everything and the Symbian platform has been here for long and that means great support and availability of applications, good for gaming (Touchscreen phones can never be good for gaming!!).

I worry that flash based banner ads wont show up in the header of the forum I run when it is accessed via an Iphone

The IPhone is rumored to not display Flash.

The ad software I use defaults to deliver a .gif or .jpg banner if the ad client has supplied one, but most of the clients only supply a Flash banner.

I want the keyboard to re orientate sideways for a bigger keyboard to type on..

Not being able to edit a Word document is a real pain.. (can you cut & paste and edit in an Apple text app?)

I wonder if people can leach onto ANY non password protected WiFi connection?

Is there some log on issues re passwords and the IPhone not being able to remember them well?

I'm gonna wait till after the Jan Mac Expo in SF.

Then I'm gonna GRAB ME ONE! :D

I had to take mine back after 10 days or so for a replacement. Phone itself doesn't have the highest call quiality; but as a multimedia unit, it's great. Web browsing is great, although the lack of a virtual wide keyboard across applications is annoying. Typing emails and IMs can take getting used to; especially if you have big hands. When you are on WiFi, speed is nice; but on the regular non-G network, not as nice.

While mine is fine for casual use; as a business tool it's not ideal (I use my Blackjack more); wait for the next version if you can.

Oh, 4gb and 8gb is not much space when you consider the nicer multimedia features and the top of the line iPod ($350) has 80gb of space. 8gb will get you a few movies but it won't hold any collections.
