I've installed it - works fine. Excellent mod ^^

Thanks for the awesome hack, Teck! Just finished installing it, and it works beautifully. :D

How do you change the background color of the main page. I'm not that new to vB. I altered all the styles and templates to my liking but just can't get the outer area of my front page to be anything other than the default background. Also, what's the best way to alter the links, sponsors, etc.. for the addons?

here's the link to my site. please tell me what i'm doing wrong.

seby, the first part is an archive thinghie, and i like the idea. i will make a separate file where it will list the thread titles, by day.

hello Teck. How would i list the news by day? Where can i get this "separate file" ?
thanx.

Hi Teck,

I'm dying to try this! I'm currently using VBPortal Lite, but it uses 49/51 queries. As I just got thrown out by my last host for excessive mysql usuage, I'm anxious to get the count down, even though my current host says I'm doing ok.

Can I install this without interferring with the current VBPortal set up? I don't want to disrupt my board while I'm getting things set up.

Currently the index directs to vbportals page, but putting your index file in the root interferes with that. Would it still work if I renamed the index to 'home.php'? That way the portal would only be called when that is included in the url ie: www.mysite.com/home.php. As nobody else would know that url then I could play about setting things up, while the VBPortal operates simultaneously. When it's all set up, I can then delete VBPortal, and no disruption to anyone.

Is this possible?

Thanks for any advice. :)

ETA: Ooh, I've just found out, I can indeed do that. Didn't work at first now it does. Cool. I shall now go play! ;)

I have tried to install this program.

Created a new database.

Installed vbulletin 2.3.0, fresh.

Read the readme file, multiple times. Followed each step exactly, including, copying the find/paste to a notepad first, before re-copying to make sure any formatting was clear.

Installed this hack 100% successfully.

Verified all paths. forum/admin ( I used the example default) and making a replacement template forum/images (used that default too)

Vbulletin Options - Front Page game up, changed multiple options and saved. Verified saves.

go to main page, no images work.

Set multiple templates on, no love. Went into the phpadmin and verified everything was at default value 1 for replacements and styles and set that variable to 1 anyway in the admin menu.

Still no images. Just X's.

I have 3 computers around me, so I'd use different ones with different browsers to look at the site, no change. Cleared cache ech time.

Went into the templates, edited all the home based templates to reflect real world paths, both http://domain.com/forum/images and just forum/images. Still no actual change in images.

Copied and pasted url's for images in text bars in browsers and they will pull up.

tried using those in the home templates, still no love.

Am I missing something?

I deleted everything and walked through the process with someone standing over my shoulder reading each step as we went along a second and third time -- all with the same results.

Should I call it quits and use something else? any recommendations? I don't want to go the php-nuke route again.

Thanks for your consideration.

The index included shows up blank. What did I do wrong?

I will ask of a favor. May someone please post the code and changes necessary in order for viewers to see the article on the main page instead of simple the article link? I mean, that's how I'd like it but I have no clue as to how I can do that.

Or, if a thread / post with this explanation already exists elsewhere, may someone link me?

*bump*

I travelled high and low and found a thread at Teck's forums that had my answer. The solution just seems a wee bit weird to me. But I managed.
