I would like to have my banners display on all pages when someone visits a category, not just the index page.

At teh moment when you click on a catergory and see teh list of topic you see the ad. But when you click on a thread you no longer see the ad. I would like the add to display on every
thread page.

Can this be done?

If so what code will I use and where do you insert it?

That doesn't seem to help. I want the Sponsors banner throughout the category, you seem to just have a Google ad at the top of your pages.
