Just how do I edit these .fla files to make them edited .swf files? I tried pasting your code into a .fla file and renaming it gamename.swf and that just gets me a blank screen. I assume all those bleep files and stuff need incorporating. Could we have a concise account of what to do with these .fla files? where to put the code and what to do with the files afterwards? The hacks says nothing about having to publish .fla files in Flash.

I am still having this problem, and I see others are to.

Database error in vBulletin 2.2.6:

this happens when some1 clicks the view arcade records page.

is ther a fix for this yet?

Mr L 03-23-2003 01:08 AM

Futureal,

Firstly, thank you for a fantastic hack here.

This is probably one of the best hacks I have ever seen for vBulletin. My site is dedicated to retro games, chat and consoles. It is perfect for it.

I have a slight probably that I'd love to get resolved if you'd be good enough to help. I am on vBulletin 2.3.0 and all is installed and appears to be working fine. However, the formatting of the tables seems to be wrong, all in blue.

Can you confirm that this is how it should be, or perhaps suggest how to fix it?

Also, my timezone is different from that of the servers. Is there a way to adjust this?

Finally, I cannot upload new images or thumbnails. It just returns to the "Modify" screen after I click on Update for a certain game. I am trying to add Asteroids, but cannot add the crown or the thumbnail.

Again thanks for a great hack, and if I can get this fully working with assistance then I'd really appricahte it.

Many thanks,

Harvey.

Futureal, awesome hack,

I've got it installed with vbhome/vbulletin 2.3.0 beta release 1 so far, and everything installed awesome, there were graphical issues, but very easy to fix.

:)

-Sidekick- 03-25-2003 08:47 PM

I apologize but I didn't want to read 70+ pages to see if a solution to this has been posted already, though what would cause the games not to load? -.-

Dark Jim 03-25-2003 09:39 PM

Under General options make sure the path to the games is "games/" and not "/games/". :)

powelly 03-25-2003 09:52 PM

My members can't stop playing the Arcade!! Their ALL addicted! Thanks man :D

The Wedge 03-26-2003 02:41 AM

was anybody able to add new games to the hack and if so what games???

Zelda-King 03-26-2003 06:51 AM

I have Snake, Breakout, Pacman, Tetris, Space Invaders, Simon Says, Hexxagon, Roulette, Plasma v2, XSnake, XBreakout and Word Drop. The files are available in the games development thread for this hack.

sabret00the 03-26-2003 12:34 PM

Nah, it is definitely still beta. There are a number of issues that need to be resolved before I'll consider it worthy of a "Full Release" status. Most of the issues should have been resolved by now and I take full responsibility for releasing incomplete and buggy code and not fixing it in time.

I think we will see a "Full Release" yet, though. :)

I will try and answer some of the individual questions here.

If you just want to reinstall the games, you can just re-do the arcadegames table.

You would execute:

DROP TABLE arcadegames;

And then re-run the query that creats the arcadegames table and inserts that data into it.

My community loves it, I've got 8 games installed with beta 2 so far :) I'm looking for Donkey Kong, I found the swf after reading all 22 threads on arcade 1, and then all 73 posts in this threads here.

What would need for Donky Kong to run? aka Hash and Scrore setting?

this is an example of what my site looks like so far with your awesome script.

http://www.bael-zharon.com/forum/proarcade.php

:)

If all you have is the SWF, it will not work with the hack. You need to get access to the source itself (the .FLA file) so that you can add the necessary information to the game to interact with the arcade.

Check out the Flash Games Development thread in this same forum (Beta Hacks) for more information on how to convert a game to an arcade-compatible format.

You should be able to find more information on adding additional games in the Flash Games Development thread, located in this same forum (Beta Hacks).

There are a few games in there that were not included with the original hack, and they all look pretty good.

futureal 03-26-2003 05:28 PM

I will have more answers for you all later. I am at the office right now and should probably get back to work. :)

Thanks for all your kind words!

Fi_InCogNiTo 03-26-2003 05:31 PM

After a game, the page redirects to http://proarcade.php/

It doesn't include the bburl in front. Anyone know why? I read most of the posts on the thread, but it's so long heh

I use msn explorer and internet explorer browsers.

Intex 03-28-2003 07:17 AM

Great work Futureal .

I'm just about to upgrade to Beta 2, but noticed the upgrade path requires you to drop the tables. Is there any way to preserve the hi-scores?

-Sidekick- 03-28-2003 01:26 PM

Is it just me or does the option to turn the Arcade off in General Options not work?

(vb2.3.0 c3)

Zelda-King 03-28-2003 06:22 PM

I had some games turned off then people couldn't even tell the games were there.

tinbin 03-30-2003 06:55 PM

I just installed this hack, and i read every txt file that was included from top to bottom.
Now when i click the arcade link, i just see a white box where the game should be, and the page seems to load forever...

The games are on the right place, they work if i go directly to them (eg. games/breakout.swf)...
What could be the problem? :(

Link14716 03-30-2003 06:57 PM

Change the path for "games/" to "/games/"

Strider Xero 03-30-2003 06:58 PM

also, if that doesn't work, enter the full URL. I had the same problem. Hope it works for you.

Intex 03-30-2003 06:59 PM

This almost certainly sounds like its not pointing to the correct directory where your games are stored. Go to admincp and under the 'General Options' for the arcade just put it a path from the root of your server, i.e. /forum/games. You might just be missing something really simple - double check.

As a further check, when you load that page where the game doesn't work, just look at the source code [View | Source] in IE and then see what path is actually being used :).

In admin CP ofcourse

Seems to work
Thx a lot fella's for the very fast reply!!
I'll test it some more

Intex 03-30-2003 07:06 PM

Cool - glad you got it sorted :).

I am having this same problem for some reason. Does anybody have a suggestion?

tinbin 03-31-2003 12:49 PM

Another quick question:

After playing u can add a comment...
Now the color of the font is black, just as the box to typ it in...
In other words: u don't see what u typ.
Where can i change the font color?
I looked at some templates, but hard to find...

Zelda-King 03-31-2003 02:20 PM

I haven't tested this but I'd say play with the font colours in the vbproarcade_gameover template.

Littlebit 03-31-2003 06:48 PM

tinbin,
yeh, I think it's the comment forms textfield color that has main background as the color in that gameover template.

mossyuk 04-03-2003 10:36 AM

Hi, thanks for the hack my Intranet users love it! :)

Anyway, after having (nearly) successfully installing the hack, I have encountered a slight but ugly problem. I have tried replacing the vast majority of templates with another copy of the original just to see if i messed up something btu that hasnt worked.

Please see the attached image, all the tables have used the same colour for everything and it looks very ugly... how on earth can i sort this out?

Any help greatfully appreciated.

Link14716 04-03-2003 10:51 AM

That's becuase futureal used the wrong replacement variable in his templates. He never saw anything wrong, since it looks right on his.

When I get home today, I'll attach my templates, that should fix the problem.

mossyuk 04-03-2003 11:34 AM

ahhh cheers. its appreciated.

mossyuk 04-03-2003 01:18 PM

Link: No worries I have managed to sort the problem out now.

Thanks anyway.

Actually, the colors were chosen by design and worked on a fresh vBulletin installation. Granted, I'm by no means a design professional, but I thought they looked OK. Now depending on how individual forums' color schemes are, it may or may not look good, but as you said, you can always change the values.

I plan on re-doing the templates completely for the hack one vBulletin 3 comes out (and yes, there will be a version for vB3 as soon as I can get my hands on the code).

futureal 04-04-2003 05:11 PM

See the development thread for a post I made regarding a bugfix version of the hack as well as optimizations for the mini-scoreboards.

Thanks for all the support, everybody!
