Error after creating a new thread...

I created a new thread, posted the youtube url into the post, hit submit. Once the thread was created, it showed the video and I try to play it, and get this error.

yea thats due to the owner of the video disabling embeds or the video was deleted

for youtube i will add checking on submission, to see if embedding is disabled.

Cool... Other than that dumb user disabling embeds, it works perfect!

One other thing, how do you show a photobucket video?

just checking here, so this does not work with 3.71 pl1 ?

Works for 3.7.1pl1 except for the first instance of an RSS request. Coders Shack, any insight into that issue? Posted on page 72 of this thread.

I'm pretty sure i fixed that issue in the upcoming release.

This is sometimes to do with copyright issues, the user may have posted a video of say Madonna for which the video may be subject to a copyright claim by the owner who rather than deleting the video allows the video to remain but adds adsense and blocks the embedding code.

Yes that would be a fantastic idea always assuming the end user has a fast internet connection.

YouTube is currently kicking loads of users off the site who've uploaded video's containing copyright material - they seem to have adopted a blanket 3 strikes and you're banned approach to users, an attitude which is biased against the very users whom are generally wanted on a website - users that take the time to post and post again and again!

Bearing in mind that probably 80 - 90% of video's already on YouTube have some form of questionable copyright material whether it be video or musical or image based, leads me to think YouTube may not be the leading video provider for much longer, and the reason for me asking the question in the first place.

Not wishing to take this thread off-topic, if anyone has any comments about YouTube or related websites, please post the reply via the link below, any further comments as regards this hack please reply to this thread.

has anyone reported a database lockup when installing this mod? When I added the .xml to my includes folder the joker locked my data base up? I removed the .xml and the database opened up and seems to be running ok? I couldn't even get into my admin area...

did u put it in your includes/xml folder. Also the current version has been downloaded about 3,500 times and i haven't read about anyone's database locking up. Can you re-produce the bug?

I FTP the "bitfield_passivevid.xml" into the includes/xml folder.

I loaded the product-passivevid.xml in the typical method. Never got a chance to do anything else cause the data base was sending me an error message.

Should I try again and try and capture the error message?

I have done this and its a great improvement but it aligns the video to the left (instead of keeping it centred). Can this be fixed in the next version?

It happens to me sometimes posting you tube videos. I'm running it on 3.7.1 PL2 but since I was on 3.6.8 too.
I've noticed that sometimes the hack recognizes the hyperlink as a second link and that's the reason it displays the video twice. I have to edit my members' posts removing the hyperlink and this way the video is displayed only once.

I couldn't track exactly what makes it because sometimes happens some don't even using the same link hyperlinked.

It's not a big deal for me to edit the posts but if you can take a look on it would be great for you new upgrade.

I've just did it. Take a look at there and see the link I posted there. It's a tricky one on my forum. When users cut-and paste that kind of link it came with some BB codes attached and those are responsible to show the video twice.
Anyway, it seems to work fine on 2.0 !!!:up:

Since upgrading to vb 3,7.2 we are getting a weird problem on our forum.

If a user posts a video, we are getting an extra youtube bbcode appear. That is messing up site layout. It wasnt happening before.

Just a suggestion if this ever gets updated...If this mod could give the user the option to turn off embedding when they are posting the link that would really be a big help. I've seen that sometimes people don't necessarily want every video link they post to embed into their thread.
