Not at all - pretty hard to see how it could be since it is only "activated" when a Mod does something - perhaps if on your forum Mods were busily editing, moving, deleting posts and threads then it had some performance hit?

Is there a way to make the username non returnable because I think lots of users will try to pm me back after getting pms. I think this feature would be really great.

Maybe to be able to make the pm name 'no reply' or something, not sure what that would do tho. kinda how emails are set up when they have a no reply email address.

just a thought, ill wait until this feature can be installed, as I think this coud be a problem on a large forum.

Thanks.

Perhaps you could use the option that allows you to have the PMs sent from a specific user account rather then the person moving the thread - if you create a new account just for these PMs and then set that account to not receive PMs?

New PMs are not shown as Unread at the Navbar.

Admin Options for Recycle Bin forum states:
"Moderation Auto-PM will then send a message to the user informing them that their thread has been deleted instead of moved to this particular forum."

User is notified the thread was Moved and not Deleted as indicated above.

Also, if the Recycle Bin is included in the Exclude Forums list any move to the recycle bin doesn't send a pm. Probably not a real big deal unless you clean out your recycle bin from time to time and it happens to be inside the age limit. Just a thought.

I've pulled my hair out on this, anyone want to share any thoughts?

What versions of vBulletin are you running?

It was in last months HotM, and is in this months :)

Thanks,
Alan.

Just thought this might be useful - the Zoints people have released a new product "Zoints Local" and they have had a similar bug reported regarding an auto-pm that they generate - one of their developers "Who" posted this about the bug in their product:

I did some more investigation, and vbulletin's datamanager runs the PM Unread query using the 'shutdown query' function, which executes the query upon script shutdown.

However, in versions less than php5 the shutdown queries aren't run on the desctruction of the vBulletin object, but rather upon calling of the function print_output(), which isn't done anywhere in the Zoints code. I've added the calling of the shutdown function the Zoints deconstruction in RC3, so it should work from then on.
I am running on PHP 4.x and my users aren't seeing the "Unread" updated.
