as i mentioned before the rc is free public release on vbcredits.com, **should** be done and up within 21 hours. im not leaving my desk for anything really.

the final will be put up on vbulletin.org once i have finished cleaning up the product file of old-version clutter, added missing admin help stuff, and placing like 2 dozen new hooks.

So if you joined vB Credits site, you would be able to use the release candidate for no charge? Interesting, that might actually make me register there.

i am unsure if i will do that particular one. still thinking on it, as i am working on something similar already.

anyway, 1.4rc is going faster and smoother than anticipated, only a couple things to add to it, then some diagnostic testing. so, might be done early, but i still say i have 13.5 hours left just in case something comes up :-p

1.4 has usergroup locks and credit display options, also on a per-forum basis

if you want the rc, should be done in less than 2 hours, so make sure you are registered to vbcredits.com before then to save yourself time :D (not just for premium users; everyone!)

I haven't tried it yet, because I was waiting for vBplaza.. but after I saw the price and that it's all ioncubed.. I'm probably not going to use them.

This is free and so far based off the description, it seems as good as vBplaza.

it is better than vbplaza imnsho, the look and feel is cleaner and the addons work great.

I will update vbulletin.org's version when 1.4 is cleaned up with admin help and hooks, otherwise its stable and complete for this version. Also when it goes final all the addons are getting updated for use with the new stuff in 1.4. I'm trying for a simultaneous thing just in case anyone finds any bugs in the rc. Please click install! :D

do you plan to addon as many features possible, that vbplaza has? I'm interested in using vbcredits now, especially with the downside of vbplaza that I just heard.

What do people spend their credits on?

Its currently got addons for vbookie, both v3 and ibp arcades, p3tz and a few others (they are also open for suggestions)

and if you flip over to their site you'll see a couple of very exciting mods currently being made

vbcustomizer (allows users to buy profile updates) and vbcommerce (which is going to be a shop system)

bit hard to explain as they are full of goodies i'd suggest going over for a little look at the previews

I have two large companion addons in the works, both kind of encompassing what vbplaza did/does, except a lot more expanded.

vBCommerce - all purpose itemshop. You can sell anything - postbit icons, subscriptions, game server items, even stuff you will eventually mail them (of course you have to do the mailing :-p) compared with the paypal addon... well you get it
vBCustomizer - users can buy customizations to everything. colorize, bold, etc etc their usernames and titles, or for other people.

Until the main two are done, vbcredits is compatible with a wide range of third party hacks, and I also put together addons as per request (getting back to that list now that 1.4 is finished with the heavy coding) :-p

when 1.4 goes final and is applied here the other addons should mostly be done. i know ibpro update is pretty much done.

the rc is stable enough for you to upgrade from 1.3

firstly, the options are in their own sections in the vbulletin options page

also there are usergroup settings for you to apply in the usergroup editor - if they are not appearing you forgot to upload the includes/xml/bitfield_credits.xml file

I did a test install on my local machine, and I found that credits are not appearing the postbit normally..I have to add "$template_hook[postbit_userinfo_right]" inorder to display credits :\ now how come I edit the credits style/text/link in the postbit template????

yeah this is a limitation to 1.3, which is why i changed it in 1.4 :-p available now for free from vbcredits.com (1.4rc1) the final version released here is almost ready (like a day or so left)

not that we created version 1.0 to 1.4 in less than 8 weeks, so thats not 6 months of waiting :P, also vbcommerce will be made when humanly possible. After vbcredits v1.4 final is released.

I want to start off by saying I think this Product is great! I like the concept and plan on using it on my forum.

My question is, is there a way to limit the product to certain usergroups only? I want to beta test it with my VIP members before I release it to the public.

yep - in the 1.4rc you can specify which usergroups to lock out, among a zillion other control options :-p
