thank you for this useful MOD. I installed some days ago but I think its not working. do you know how can I test this MOD?

odeezie 02-08-2008 01:18 AM

Newbie here...will this work with 3.6.8?

SoftDux 02-08-2008 09:39 AM

My inactive users email doesn't seem to work. How do I debug it? It is enabled, and when I run it manually then I can see it sends out an email to some users

RetroDreams 02-09-2008 01:47 AM

Does this work well in 3.7?

I agree. However, I'm not sure the Chris, the author of the add-on is still checking in:

Yes it will.

Right... used this product for quite some time, loved it. Upgraded to 3.7.... now all emails are showing the default account email as the sender, which is NOT good. Uninstalled until support can be provided.

 What do you mean? The sender should be whatever email address is specified for the forum in vBulletin options. That's always been the case.

I'm still using 3.8.6 PL2. Beyond that, I have no idea. If you're using version 1.09 of the add-on, I think it should work but I'll have to wait for the 3.7 final release to see.

Also, if you are having trouble with version 1.11, uninstall and install version 1.09 instead. Version 1.09 was the last stable version and it's still working fine for me.

Should run automatically if everything is setup correctly, once inactive users are found.

I know- again, it just decided to stop one day, after I upgraded. Everything is set properly, but for some reason, it's using the wrong email account to send the reminders out.

todays-women 02-12-2008 02:17 PM

How I will know it's working properly or not?

You can check scheduled tasks log. It will have an entry like this if it has run.
Quote:

3733 Inactive User Reminder Emails 06:18, 1st Feb 2008 Emails sent to:Feral Swan luke2177 . We tried to email the following users, but their email address was invalid:
Also look at your scheduled task manager and see when it is scheduled to run.

If you run the job manually using Run NOw it will give you a list of users that the emals were sent too.

sylar 02-14-2008 10:57 AM

This is a grea product that bings back any users that have not been active.

Unfortunately I had to stop using it as I got a lot of Spam complaints. Perhaps an addition for the email to coantain a remove from mailing list and have it build a table to keep theese addresses that dont waht to receie the mail.

Actually, if you add this bit of text to the mailer, it gives them the opt-out option, which basically, covers your butt regarding spam complaints:

HTML Code:

<p>If you have received this email it is because you have elected to "allow this site to contact you via email. If you would like to opt out of future contact from this site, you can change your notification options here: <a href="$forumurl/profile.php?do=editoptions">$forumurl/profile.php?do=editoptions</a> and uncheck the box next to "Receive Email from Administrators." You must be logged in to change your options.</p>
<p><a href="$homeurl">$homeurl</a></p>

Creepy and awesome username and avatar you've got, btw. I'm a huge Heroes fan.;)

This is great mod but but !!!! I have 100000 members when this thing sends emails my forum get locks like 5 minutes. you should fix this script sending emails slowly not mass emailing...

Still love it and use it :)

No problem!;) Except I can't take credit for this...it's in this thread somewhere a ways back, but an excellent idea nonetheless.

With 100+ posts It doesn't hurt to repeat it occasionally, unless someone want to read the entire thread. ;)

That is the reason.

Version 1.09 sends out emails in specified batches - like deezelpope, mine is set to 3 at a time and I think that's the default.

As I've said many times previously, version 1.11 is quirky and in my opinion should be considered a beta version. I would recommend that you uninstall this version and install 1.09.

Peejay 02-17-2008 02:00 PM

This is a great little mod, since I've installed it we've had a lot of innactive users receive an email and then come back and have a browse and post again. It did open my eyes to how many of our sites members are inactive and led to me installing the Welcome Headers hack too.

Great stuff, many thanks :

piraterevival 02-18-2008 11:51 AM

Whats the best way to test this working?

Great little mod though

Install it. Set up the options the way you want it, being careful to keep the number of emails sent out small. Go to scheduled tasks and set up the cron job the way you want it. Then run the cron job manually to test it all.

mastertek2000 02-19-2008 12:03 AM

looks nice thanks will try it installed

Cheers for the reply.

Only seems to work when I select "Based on last Post". When I select, based on last activity, I get "Found 0 Inactive Users"

I have 3,000 members and the Forum reports 700 active users based on the 60day Last Activity, so this MOD should email around 2,300 members.

I think thats right?

Thanks again

I'm not certain how the standard vBulletin "active" status works but I use this add-on in "Based on last activity" mode and it works just fine - note that logging in counts as activity.

What version of the add-on are you using? I and others had problems with version 1.11 so version 1.09 is recommended.

bhanuprasad1981 02-24-2008 05:41 AM

i always recieve
email sent to follwing users xxxxxxx xxxxx xxxxx
We tried to email the following users, but their email address was invalid:
though emails were valid

todays-women 02-26-2008 12:03 AM

I don’t know why but when I installed 1.0.9. My data corrupted and my forum was close for one day. After restoring & everything I still didn’t manage to get last 2 week data.
Concept is good but not for me. Any way you can send mail to inactive member from inbuilt email fetcher in one click.

hotdude_55 02-26-2008 07:46 AM

Is it really working ??

I have tried it but its not sending any mails

-=Leb=- 02-26-2008 09:26 PM

It seems like the email reminder is not working. This is what i get on every member

Quote:

The email reminder keep saying invalid email address on all members. I'm running VB 3.6.8
and installed email reminder V 1.11 . I appreciate if you can help :)

zeus_r6 02-28-2008 06:36 PM

My scheduled task log says that it emailed all the inactive members, but none are actually receiving the email

zeus_r6 02-28-2008 07:06 PM

Switched to the older version and it works!

mariocaz 02-28-2008 08:07 PM
