As for the authorizing code, typically you would have to go through that step but I do believe there is a chance I could do it for you if you messaged me here or at network.zoints.com. I would have to get the live forum information (forum title, forum description, tags and directory to be listed in... the last three if you would want your forum placed in our directory of forums) as well as the development forum information (so I could locate it to edit it.) - Reid |
That's great. I'll PM you later on once I've tried it out.
|
In the nav bar in the profile section, there is a link for communities that goes to communities outside my website. I do not like this. How can I take the communities link off the nav bar?
|
I would have bought it if they bring out a commercial version without ads and separate from their servers! and universal adaption to vb's default templates.

I am afraid you are not allowed to do so as that would be in violation of using Zoints Local. We understand that some may not like it and may not choose to use it because of that Quote:
Ads do not come with Zoints Local. Links to Zoints.com are included, but there is nothing esoteric like the traditional thought of what an advertisement is. As for being on our servers, member profiles are not stored in our servers from Zoints Local. You would be connected, thus why we are a network, but if your forum closed down or you removed your forum from Zoints, we would have no more access to your profiles than we do right now (which is zero.) Zoints.com members can search for members in the network and find links to forum members, which only helps forums, but they are simply that, links. - Reid |
I tried it out today and it was relatively easy to install. But I realised how much re-styling was required to match the rest of the site. It doesn't pick up the main forum style unfortunately. I'm not really prepared to put in that much work for profile enhancement at the moment.
Also, I feel that there's too much 'brand interference'. I understand that Zoint would naturally want to promote their own brand but things like the intro message when members first log on to the profile seems to be slightly over the top. It may confuse the users as well since as far as they're concerned they've simply gone to their own profile (which is very much part of the site). As someone mentioned above, I'd rather spend money and buy the commercial version too keep it brand free. So I think I'll either look into some other mods or wait till vb's social networking plug-in comes out. Thanks for your help Reid. |

As for brand interference, we want to assure members of their privacy and it is a one time message that I haven't heard from any owners (or members of my own site) to be a great detraction. But like I said before, Zoints is not for everyone and if there is a better solution for you, you should take it. Thanks for the consideration regardless girlspeedo and I hope you find what you need for your forum. - Reid |
Zoints Local 1.0.4 Released
We strongly encourage all current users of Zoints Local to upgrade to version 1.0.4. This release solely corrects a few potential security flaws we recently discovered. It is not the same as our upcoming feature-rich release mentioned in August. Given the nature of the 1.0.4 release being based around security, we encourage all users to upgrade now and not to wait for the feature-rich release. To upgrade, please overwrite the modified files mentioned in the upgrade.txt file located in the zip file under the latest release (1.0.4) If you have any difficulties with the upgrade procedure, do not hesitate to let us know as we want all forums to be as secure as possible. The previously mentioned feature-rich release, Zoints Local 1.1 is nearing its run through the development process and will soon be released to our Quality Assurance team for final testing before releasing it to the rest of the community. Once again, we appreciate your continued support and we hope to remain ahead of the curve while offering you the support that you deserve. |
So if you have 1.03 installed it is just /z/blocks.php that needs to be updated?
|
ok uploading..i opened the install folder and removed the 2 fiiles you stated do not upload when i over write all my files..So I will see how it goes.
Please note: Do not upload the following two files: /z/install/index.php /z/install/detail.php so i removed them...right? |

Also, to note, one of our coders included some code by mistake from the 1.1 version of blocks.php to the 1.04 version which does cause an small error. Please download the latest copy and just upload the blocks.php file again from the latest file. This only applies to those who have already installed 1.04. We sincerely apologize about that. - Reid |
ok got it fixed..THANKS
|
I have noted that with Zoints Local, if a member changes their username on the forum itself, the reflected name change is not seen in the Zoints Profile. If you manually try to insert the correct name into the URL, and hit enter, it tells you that the profile you're looking for cannot be found.
Otherwise, this is a great product. |

You need to login to your ZAdmin, click Members, search for the profile and then change the url token to reflect what it should be with the new name. If this does not work properly for you, open up a ticket at network.zoints.com And thanks for the kind words. - Reid |

|

in blocks.php on line 35 it write : if ($this->_var['modid'] > 0 && !$this->validate_mod_owner($this->_var['modid'])) { $this->fatal_error('no permission'); }

I tried both the user and the admin demos on the zoinks site, and both returned 404 errors, so I couldn't find the anwer there.
I have two questions: 1. Is/can the communities created by zoinks be limited to an individual website, or does it have to link out to the others? 2. Is the Zoinks logo and copyright displayed? If it is, are there options to remove it? Thanks for the clarification. |
1. There's no option to keep it autonomous (to your individual site) at the moment.
2. Branding free (removal of footer copyright) is available but you'll need to contact Zoints for details. |
Thank you for the quick reply!
|
Excellent hack! I've installed it but when one clicks on Upload Your Photo in the profile the following error message appears >
Fatal error: Call to undefined method blocks::validate_mod_owner() in /home/torontor/public_html/TorontoRaja/forum/z/blocks.php on line 35 Any tips? |
i have the same error here
|
I've let the engineers know of the issue gang, and they are working toward a solution (one might be found actually, we're just waiting for feedback.)
Thanks for letting us know. - Reid |
hello I have a style problem, my whole style page is messed up, and the only thing i am good at is copying and pasting hacks and mods!
any help? my current style is caprice from forumthemes.com |
1.0.4a has just been uploaded. There was a formatting error that commented out the function definition, which was causing the error you were all experiencing. Please upload the blocks.php from this the 1.0.4a zip file and upload to your /z/ directory.
The problem should then be fixed. If you experience any trouble, please don't hesitate to inform us. Thanks for your patience! |

I have to see the forums in action, but if you want me to try my hand at it (I've resolved many issues with styles for other Zoints Local users) please open up a ticket at network.zoints.com with a temporary admin account with style permissions and a link to your forums. I can't guarantee it will be resolved, but I do have experience and I will do my best to help you. - Reid |
I uploaded the blocks.php into the /z/ folder however there is still the error on line 35 thing.

One other option is to do like I mentioned above but to leave the other "Edit Profile" link as "Edit vB Profile" (so you won't confuse the members too much. You could also create an announcement about Zoints Local for your members. - Reid |
Another option is to replace Zoints as the default forum profile system.
|
Yeah, I just assumed that he did that. Thanks for the help Freesteyelz. :)
engedi05, did you install the vBulletin Product so that when a profile is clicked, you are redirected to the Zoints one automatically? - Reid |
