here's a league script i did a long time ago for olwleague.com (now inactive - was used on a couple other league sites also) in the vb2.x.x days... i currently do not have time to work on a vb3 version but you could get some inspiration from the structure:

Ladder list

Single Ladder:
Player Standings - Player Info - Match DB - Match Info - Top Stats - Rules List - Single Rule View - Tournaments List - Tournament Bracket

and so on...

Team Ladder:
Team Standings - Team Info - Team member info

and so on...
