thanks for info and suggestion. I am running current version and it was working perfectly up until 2 days ago so not sure what happened

I'm running SOM 2.0.2 on VB4.2PL3. To update to the current version, can I just upload it straight up and overwrite all the existing files, or do I have to uninstall the old version?

Over write all files then install new xml

What would suddenly cause this mod to be unable to connect to the stopforumspam website to check potential spammers any ideas PLEASE

I would seriously try Spambot Stopper if you haven't already.

Pretty sure it takes affect before Spam-O-Matic kicks in and will atleast block all the automated bots.

Though currently I'm having issues with Spambot Stopper posting to a thread but that's an option that can be disabled
(probably just an issue with my own forum )

thanks for suggestion I am running the "You and Spam" mod which is brilliant and help catch most of the spammers but I was running both and it was great.

Suddenly this mod is unable to connection the the Stop forum Spam server and I have no idea why.

My website hosting company says they have made no changes on their side but I am not sure about this.

what would cause this issue of connection problems

There are some changes in the XML not sure if they are in the one above if not there is a fix a few pages back not sure how many good bit I think

yea Spambot Stopper and You and Spam (renamed again? :) )
both seem to do the same thing.

Not sure why it can't contact - my Glowhost logs show it's still connecting.

Can you ping their servers?

I read back about 20 pages and found mention of same problem but no mentioned of how they fixed it. I sent a PM to the person who had the problem and hopefully they will confirm how they resolved it.

Not sure if this has been added to the updated one so check first when you edit the file
