what he said....

this hack rules. :)

dieselpowered 08-10-2005 06:13 AM

Ok I ran the uninstaller, dropped the tables that the installer created, and deleted the settinggroup using the debug mode. Is there anything else that I need to do...were there other changes in the DB that I need to take care of manually?

I see that the usergroup table was modified with with articlepermissions so I deleted the articlepermissions as well.

Looks like something was altered in the phrase table, however, I am not sure how to get rid of it.

Thanks everyone!

commTRU 08-21-2005 06:17 PM

I wonder if there was a way to allow usergroups to create articles in certain categories, but not others?

Forumi Shqiptar 09-03-2005 01:24 AM

is this hack going to be updated so it can work with vb 3.5.0 RC2 or not? Im desperate for an article hack to work with vb 3.5.0 RC2.

Many thanks in advance for the reply

flstreetscene 09-12-2005 03:40 AM

figured this problem out

reteep 10-04-2005 05:55 AM

Yea, it'd be very nice to know if there's gonna be a vb 3.5 Port?

hotwheels 10-05-2005 12:19 PM

lmao.....i just read 68 pages and never found the answer to my problem. The problem i am having is, i don't have the "article" in my admincp on the left hand side of my admin control page. I saw many thread's on people having this problem, but nobody showed the answer on how to resolve this issue. Any help on this unsupported hack would be greatly appreciated. hotwheels

Did you actually do this section of the instructions ?

construct_nav_option($vbphrase['announcement_manager'], 'announcement.php?do=modify', '|');

In the vb 3.5x this section doesn't exist. What can I do to resolve this problem and add these voices in the men? nav bar ?

Thank you all for the answers,

This isn't for 3.5, it's for 3.0.x. There won't be a port for 3.5, I might code a new version with an import script (but I can't promise anything).

That's mean I am in big trouble right now... I want to upgrade to 3.5.0, but I can not really loose all my articles.

Why bad things happened to good people? ;)

Thank you for reply, John.

nmu98 10-24-2005 11:03 AM

I have followed all instrucxtions, and found GD+2 on my server, but my thumbnails show as red x's... But if you click on them, they show the picture... any idea?

Brian

JTMON 10-24-2005 03:53 PM

nmu98 10-24-2005 04:17 PM

How would you set the PHP ini???

nmu98 10-26-2005 10:46 AM

Any help here would be great... I have read this and tried everything I know of... But i could be missing something.. The thumbnails work on my VB site... HELP!

It was such a great script that become vital to my community and am stuck now since upgrading.

Any help would be appreciated.

You may want to look at the Geek Article System (GAS). It has an importer for v3 Articles and has a newer, albeit commercial, version for 3.5+. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply. I have looked at GAS but was unaware that there was an importer.

Thanks

hotwheels 12-29-2005 09:56 PM

I just purchased and uploaded the GARS system, and i didn't see an importer........damn

you need to report that on www.thevbgeek.com dear

hotwheels 01-01-2006 05:02 PM

I did...........he said he will get some type of importer, but he doesn't think it will fix my current loss of vb3 articles. The importer won't convert the articles.

They are still safe in my mySQL, so hopefully someone can figure out how to upgrade this to the new version of vb3.5.2 and all will be good. This mod has over 350 install's, so we know it is popular.

defcon_420 03-10-2006 08:58 AM

Great job John, i've had this mod installed for ages now and its been working great.
Only thing is now i want to upgrade my forum to 3.5.X and i'd like to be able to retreive my articles from the database so i can import them into something that will support 3.5.X
Would much rather use this because its been great and working without problem. Have any idea if or when there will be a 3.5.X version?

fishhub 10-29-2006 12:16 PM

SInce this is posted here and still going strong.

Would like to know is this vb3 srticles FREE for all to use?

Can it work with v3.5.4 with cmps2.1?

Hopefully someone out there can advice. TIA.

:classic:

Paul M 10-29-2006 12:28 PM

It is free.

It will only work on vb 3.0.x - it is not compatible with 3.5 or 3.6.

ep13 12-04-2006 10:35 PM

will this be out for 3.6.x at anytime

yahoooh 01-24-2007 03:37 PM

:( pity .. I really need this kind of mod

bc3tech 09-04-2007 01:27 PM

GARS is the only thing for 3.5+
there IS a "free" version of it, but it will only work on one forum.

figu120 04-28-2008 12:22 AM

saYRam 02-12-2009 04:49 PM

Areku 02-13-2009 08:46 AM

I'm curious on that too!

RS_Jelle 02-13-2009 07:21 PM

It doesn't ;)

ckgreenman 03-18-2009 07:45 PM

Anyone working on a version that DOES work with 3.8?

I really want this functionality for my site and nothing else seems to do what I want.
