Hi,
I just installed vbindex on my vbulletin 3.0 gold. I get the error "Could not find phrase 'vbindex_settings_saved'." and I realy don't know what to do. Any suggestions? Best regards, Magnus |
Just ignore the error or create the phrase yourself. Its not important :)
|
It already created it, the problem ist that my settings won't save. :(
|
Make sure you have completed the install process correctly.
|
When I upgraded to vB 3.0 the link to vBindex disappeared from the admincp just like it did last time I upgraded, everything else works fine though. :o I really don't know what I'm doing, is there an easy way to fix it?
|
Its back now Lissa :)
|
OMG lol. You know, I'm gonna have to learn to do this myself ;)
Thanks! |

I will be releasing RC4 here today. I've had a few people do test installs to iron out any bugs left and am happy that its going to work for the majority.
Once I get home I'll release it here :) |

cannot wait for the upgrade.
|
how come my index is a blank page?
|
thanks!
but i into a problem, the news are not showing up, i updated counters and stuff. if i use your vbindex.php from RC3 build 7, the news show up, but they don't with your latest vbindex.php. templates are all up to date. do you have an idea? |
The only change to the news is the news character limit, make sure you have either set it to 0 to show the whole post or a number > 0 to show part of the post.
|
thanks, that (and an other small error i spoted) worked.
the only minor problem is that the version info is some kind of "broken" it looks like this: vBindex Version %2$s |
Either run the installer again and make sure you complete every step or run the following query:
[sql]REPLACE INTO datastore (title, data) VALUES ('vbindex_version', '3.0.0 RC4')[/sql] Making sure to add a table prefix if you have one. |
I have just upgraded to RC4 ,but can't get the latest posts to show up in the centre under the news.
I think this is probably to do with it not being a fresh install, the templates haven't been overwritten. Can you post the new templates for vbindex, and shell to see if that would work. Also what is the vbiupgrade.core file that is in the zip? Cheers |
Make sure you have checked the option for the center threads to show and you have updated the VBINDEX template from the VBINDEX__3.0.0_RC4 template (as per the instructions you should have seen during the install).
All the templates can be found within the vbindex_templates.xml file. vbiupgrade.core is the same as vbiupgrade.php, I must have dragged that in too by mistake, its not needed. |

What a plonker... I forgot to rename vbindex.php to index.php!! Sorry |
question NTLDR -
when users are viewing the front page, can it be made to say "Viewing Site Home" or something....instead of "Unknown Location /vbindex.php?" Would look better in the Who is online area ;) |
hellsatan released the attached hack at Core Forums for use with vBindex and vB3 Beta 7, it should work with all vB3 releases though. A full addon pack for additional extras on vB for stuff that exists in vBindex will be put together soon.
|
cool, works...u should put this in your installer file edits.
|
I'm a bit confused, does vBindex RC4 mean it's for vBulletin RC4, or just that this is the RC4 release of vBindex?
|
RC4 means its Release Candidate 4 of vBindex 3.0.0. It will work with any version of vBulletin after 3.0.0 Gamma.
|
if this modifies anything, can you supply a complete list of things it might modify in the mySQL db, so i can backup certain blocks and so on so i can install this thing properly and not worry about a error....
|
Could you please add a character count/limit option to the Shout setup just like you have for news posts.
Your Shout is an excellent feature but if someone can overload it with endless garbage it is too risky to occupy an important position on one's home page. |

Datastore, phrasetype, phrase, template and thread (if you had vBindex 2.1 installed) are the tables you need to backup. |
is it the same tables for this hack?
|
Those are the tables changed in 3.0.0, the only database edits where to template and thread in 2.1.

can you look into this or got an hint how to solve this? |
I'll try and look into it, I've never come across it myself which makes it harder to find the problem. If you have any extra details you think would be usefull then please let me know :)
|
Currently, I have this in my footer:
Powered by: vBulletin Version 3.0.0 & vBindex Version 3.0.0 RC4 vBulletin Copyright © MM - MMIV Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. vBindex Copyright © MMII - MMIV Winter Systems. How much of that is required to be in the footer? Or rather, what parts of that can I remove? h |
If you have paid for the branding free option of vBulletin you don't need anything other than vBindex Copyright ? MMII - MMIV Winter Systems. Otherwise the only part you can change is Powered by: vBulletin Version 3.0.0 & vBindex Version 3.0.0 RC4 which can be reduced to a minimum of Powered by: vBulletin (however you'll have to contact Jelsoft to confirm that).
