Maybe something changed with YouTube's 1080p rollout?

Same here as well.

Only other thing changed on my site recently is a vBSEO patch.

NetX 11-19-2009 08:01 PM

Same thing in my forum.

Since yesterday, the hack is not parsing the youtube videos

MagicThemeParks 11-19-2009 10:17 PM

I just tested some youtube videos and it worked. Seems to be working still.

webgroup 11-19-2009 10:51 PM

old already parsed videos is not the problem, the problem is when you post a new video, its not working anymore.

Sounds like you uploaded the mod to the wrong file location. The only blank index is in the amecahce folder which shouldnt stop anything on the site.

I'll go back and take a look at it again. If I remember correctly, I tried loading to like named files AND also tried just loading to the root folder. The index.html DEFINITELY caused the problem. Once it was deleted, all good.

Yes, posted new videos to a 3.7 site and a 3.8 site that I run and they both worked.

jca2112 11-20-2009 03:22 AM

Still not working here. (Just tried posting another video.) I've made no changes to vBulletin, our configuration, server, etc. to associate with this problem.

Same here it must be youtube because my passive video stopped working too, so Installed AME and I get the same link that external embedding is not available.

Losing my mind and members are having a fit.

As a workaround while YouTube's API changes are digested I found that unticking "Extract Info" for the YouTube definitions allowed new videos to be embedded again. No titles or anything but at least the vids work until a full solution is found.

Worked for me as well.

dklassen 11-20-2009 09:56 PM

Running vb 3.8.4 with AME and everything's been fine. All of a sudden all the embedded youtube videos are all links. When you try to add a new video it just puts a link in the post. Didn't change anything in admin and the setting all look correct.

How to fix?

Thanks.

Thanks, that did it :)

dklassen 11-20-2009 11:45 PM

It worked me to but only on new posts. The old one's are still links. Looks like all the old youtube vids are now tagged with URL bb code. Funny thing is, on my other site all the vids are fine.

Same here. I hate when they pull this stuff. Yes we benefit from their services, but they also benefit. We are just regarded as trash in their corporate eyes I guess????

Looking for a script to update older effected posts if anyone has one?

webgroup 11-21-2009 04:31 AM

theres no problem with the old posted and correctly parsed videos.
any videos posted after the youtube change will be affected.

ahheng 11-21-2009 05:32 AM

Hi The Geek, wonder isit possible that you can code this to vb4 soon? i am sure a lot vb4 users badly need this. :x

That worked great with AME on my unmolested site... now I need help with my heavily modded site that has Passive Video Premium installed and YouTube stopped working... it does not have the same type tick boxes as AME... and it's so modified AME throws errors... so I can't use AME on this one........ drat

MjrNuT 11-23-2009 04:33 AM

Your plugin is great as I've just begun to start using it. No hitches with Youtube, except for having to set Extract Info to No.

Issue though as it appears that WeGame is not embedding. What kind of info do you need to help diagnose this? I have Extract info set to off and just pasted the link in like for youtube.

Thanks for your time.

gnosisprod 11-23-2009 07:04 AM

How do you disable videos from automatically playing? I'm embedding wmv files and I haven't found an option to disable autoplay.

Hi, I made sure to check your Troubleshooting Post.

The particular issue that addresses my needs is:

Quote:

Media won't embed, it just gives the link with an icon after it.
This means that the publisher of the video has disallowed the video to be shown off site. Its actually a feature of AME to do that
This is not the case as I created a separate BBCode tag for WeGame and it works just fine. I'd prefer it work with AME though.

Anyone have a working AME for using WeGame?

Thanks in advance.

Well I hope this mod gets updated to address whatever is causing YouTube video urls from being parsed -- it's a great mod and needs to continue. :)

Back to speculation -- maybe this YouTube glitch is related to using the legacy YouTube API that was shut down on Nov. 11?

The Geek 11-25-2009 01:42 PM

Sounds like the validation of youtube is barfing up. Either disable extraction, OR remove the validation setting for youtube.

To be honest, the validation process is a PITA and youtube have fixed the reason I had to validate the links in the first place. If removing the validation works, Ill update the mod to remove it altogether.

Regarding 4.0:
I have requested a couple of small 4.0 code changes to be able to extend their video bbcode system in an AME'ish way. Will let you know how it proceeds.

therogueforums 11-25-2009 02:00 PM

Turning off "Extract Info" does not seem to be working for me.

gnatster 11-25-2009 03:30 PM

Turning off Extract Info fixed the issue for me.

M.C. 11-27-2009 04:18 PM

I noiced that it has conflict with vbAnonymizer

tylercruz 11-30-2009 07:43 PM

Thank you for this. I bought the pro version of PassiveVideo, but they refused to give any support on the recent YouTube issue, so I uninstalled and switched to AME, which I was able to get to work with YouTube by disabling extraction.

Ghostt 12-01-2009 02:32 PM

how/where can i edit the "default ame template" (container) ?

Ghostt 12-02-2009 12:19 PM

Sorry, but no. There isn't anything to fix. I don't know vbAnonymizer but would suspect it changes all URLs. If thats the case, tell it to leave AME's stuff alone!

How Could I :-)

can you try solving it ??

this mod doesn't confilct with it and works for 3.8.x perfectly

chick 12-05-2009 06:49 PM

Geek if removing the validation setting for youtube (how to do this???) and turning the extract back on will it allow the video to have 'the name of the video' again at the top of the player???
+++++++
EDIT
ok I just tested and turned extract back on and removed the validation BUT YouTube- Broadcast Yourself. STILL shows at the top of the video. It does not pull the video name :(

Does anyone know how to force it to start pulling the video name again???

testbot 12-07-2009 04:19 PM

i'm not sure how the rebuild under tools works. if i make a change to an existing definition how to i rebuild all the old posts that are using the old definition to reflect this new change.

Alan_SP 12-08-2009 01:50 AM

Ok, problem is when I'm importing all definitions from one file, it imported only first ones up to "Daily HaHa (Funny Pictures)"

It said it worked like a charm, but it hasn't. Others are skipped, or something. They aren't there...

But when I start to manually import one by one definition, I can import them. And they work ok.

How to import all definitions in one go? Is there something I should change in php.ini file and where should I put this changed php.ini file? Has anybody idea? It's vB3.8.4

If I disable AME the pin's appear.

Any idea how to fix this issue?

Thanks Mally

I have the same problem, does anyone know if there is a fix? If not, is there a way to disable the AME product in just this googlemapsme page? It's just one php file.

The Geek 12-09-2009 11:02 AM

Just uploaded 2.5.6 which:
  • Removes Youtube's validation process. This was the source of a lot of fals positives 'no media' links appearing.
  • Fixed a typo which led to ccurl not being used if availible (another source of woe)
  • Fixed a couple other minor things

Note regarding upgrading: If you use the file cache, you MUST rebuild your file cache after upgrading. To do so, upgrade then browse to AME CP > Tools > Resync File Cache.

Regarding 4.0 support: There will be a new version of AME for vb4.0. In fact, I already have a prototype working. It still remains to be seen if as many features can be includeded in this series as the last, but the fundamentals will be there.

v. 2.5.6 discussions start here :)

It can only pull the name if extraction is on. Try 2.5.6 and turn the extraction back on.
