ARGHHHHHHHHHH totally confused.

I see a number of discussions on it but no idea which templates to edit for some of the changes. Then theres reworked solutions etc and the catagories one totally confused me.

I have the main arcade rewrite working perfectly but after that it gets to be a grey area.

I'll keep trying but so far no luck :(

Immortal 04-11-2006 08:59 AM

You can use the feature "Search in templates". Anything that begins with RewriteRule goes into your .htaccess file. Does that help any?

Selene 04-11-2006 01:03 PM

I installed the hack working fine but one problem on main forum index page , when i try to click on the latest forum thread from forumhome it doesnt bring me to that latest thread, because it doesnt include the name of forum in the url. Hence link gets error.

any way to solve this?

Selene 04-11-2006 01:09 PM

and yes i did downlaod the current .zip that there is rightnow. so i suppose im using the latest version of the hack

look at this post it has alot of the tweaks... then there is a few more in the pages following that page... i think maybe the next 3 or 4 pages after that... but that is all of what you need.... also read on that post the original post

Selene 04-11-2006 02:15 PM

DementedMindz can u help with the problem that i posted

DementedMindz 04-11-2006 02:30 PM

i think they may want the problems reported in the bug tracker this way they can tell what is going on... but i think a few things to let them know is if you have vbadvanced installed or how you have things setup... its hard to tell what is going on with out seeing the problem...

thats what i did but although your original arcade worked perfectly, i couldn;t quite get to gripes with the discussion proceeding that :( It was all over the place.

Take categories for instance.

One part was covered and the other part wasn;t.

So it was :-

Code:

<a style="text-decoration:none" href="arcade.php?categoryid=$id">
becomes

Code:

<a style="text-decoration:none" href="arcade-categoryid=$id.html">
and then you say
Quote:

Code:

<a href="arcade.php?barsize=1<if condition="$categoryid">
I am not actually too sure on that one, hmm, sorry.
I tried that and my catgories buttons shrink to nothing and are then inaccessible for instance.

its just too fragmented ...

The original v3arcade you did worked perfectly but after that the discussion went over my head ... :(

Selene 04-11-2006 03:06 PM

can someone help me too? hehe

DementedMindz 04-11-2006 03:45 PM

dizzy100 you have to read what was posted i originally had a alt layout installed... since then i switched back to the stock so the code above you posted will work on stock v3arcade you just need the rewrite rule in htaccess...

Asking over and over is not going to solve your problem. Nor am I going to do it if you can't take the time to a) search the thread b) download the beta version by searching the thread. I'm not your own personal tech support if you can't take 2 seconds for something I do for free, and get $0 and which you are getting at no cost.

for catagories ?

It never worked :(

At least not for me ...

anyhow thanks for a great hack.

i found the beta link at https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthrea...eta#post935077

now the problem is i have currently installed 1.0 so do i uninstall the 1.0 before i use the beta 1.5 ?

I just have a small tendency to not be happy when people ask redundant questions, when searching the thread will solve most (if not all) issues :)

You'll want to check "Overwrite existing" when importing the product, and overwrite the .htaccess. Hope that helps :)

Ok, I had just upgraded to RC2 I guess, I just installed RC3 so we will give it a shot. Thanks!

jj 04-13-2006 08:17 PM

Well unlucky with rc3... forums are not accessible anymore - posts are... hm... :(

I've used the htaccess generator...

Maybe next rc or final :)

Immortal 04-13-2006 08:28 PM

jj: Report the exact issue you was having at the bug tracker. 1.5 final will be released shortly, with little/no changes to RC3.

Seems to work good so far except "new post" link.

I have it as http://www.vtxcafe.com/search.php?do=getnew but when I click the link it shows as a dead link http://www.vtxcafe.com/search-getnew.html/

That's the only thing I have found so far.

EDIT: Nevermind, some threads are not showing up also, had to turn it off again, members posting about not seeing threads.

edit your htacccess :)

http://www.vtxcafe.com/search-getnew.html <-- works

http://www.vtxcafe.com/search-getnew.html/ <--- doesn't

"/" is causing problems...

Gayble 04-13-2006 11:09 PM

Does vRewrite still have that advertisement/link each time a reply is posted, or whenever vBulletin is redirecting?

You mean the link @ the bottom? That will always be there...

I copied the htaccess again and I'm not sure where the "/" is that needs to be removed. It's copied exactly like the file I downloaded so any suggestions would be great.

Here's the fix (htaccess generator also fixes this)
Code:

RewriteRule ^search-(.*).html/$ search.php?do=$1 [L]
Replace wit old version

VTXCafe.com 04-13-2006 11:58 PM

Ok, I did that and the search works but now it has "computer-topicshelp" at the top left.

http://www.vtxcafe.com/search.php?searchid=9868

Also, when I click the new link I get this:

No Thread specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the administrator

And thanks for helping with this!

What is the exact link? the search returned no results for me....(the text @ the top of the screen is expected and already fixed...just remove the echo statemnet)

VTXCafe.com 04-14-2006 12:21 AM

I have it turned off, the link above will show new post but when you click it I get the no thread comment, I disabled it again because members were posting thet could not read some threads.

If you are online now I will turn it on then you can click the link and see the results.

saidev 04-14-2006 01:04 PM

I think it's best we just wait for an answer, and not assume anything :)

Did you email them or just PM? If you PMed them, have you tried PMing them in vbseo.com? Because they will surely answer in vbseo.com.

Immortal 04-15-2006 02:43 PM

I think it's just best if we wait a bit longer for an answer, then keep bugging them :)

Your .htaccess is wrong, or something. Use the addon to generate a new one:

vRewrite 1.5 stable has been released. To upgrade from either 1.0 or 1.5 RC# simply reimport the plugin and check "Overwrite" and reupload your .htaccess file. Please continue to keep all bugs and feature requests at the bug tracker.

Support for 1.0 will no longer be offered, and you will simply be told to upgrade to the stable 1.5.
