I just stumbled on Edirectory.com 's software, it seems nice from a first glance but, I don't see any listing about vbulletin integration. If this was possible and you could customize a hosted solution it might be promising for me since the hosted version was $99/mo.

Dang! $1800 purchase price plus $400 per year for updates.
Thats quite a steep price tag.

In my communication with various people to chart their functionality needs, commercial functionality comes up again and again. ACS providing such functions in beta 3 makes a world of difference.
Please do not see it as superfluous bloat, because its not.

Sure, there are basic products available.
But, TedS product isn't right for my needs and ACS beta 2 isn't working for me, 3 months after purchase.
Do you have it working on your site alfa?
So, that's the reason why I said to make the product first basic and working.
Makes no sense to me to add thousand of features if the final working result isn't foreseeable.

man, so disappointing waiting so long. I'm with Ramsesx. Something simple that works would be great.

Teds is right on but lacks the ability to add new products via the Vbulletin 4 Editor. I can't understand that at all. The XML import is great for those who actually get company data via XML feeds for products but in my line of business, no manufacturer lists their product in a XML, so I have to copy paste product info one by one and the editor makes this much simplier. With Teds system, you have to grab all the HTML and screw around with that.

If I use the vbulletin Editor, I can copy past hundreds in a day, no problem ( images and tables etc, just like the product website displays !) . Awesome this way!

BUT WITH With Teds, I have to input all the html code via the CP which totally sucks. Its so slow and useless. Its focused on their agenda which is part of their business. I'm interested in boutique products and reviews. Not importing thousands of amazon type reviews in hundreds of categories. Way overkill.
Again, Teds XML import is great in their eyes , wonderful for importing thousands of products ( ONLY AVAILABLE in XML) but useless for simple solutions and the boutique product reviews.

If someone improved Teds, allowing the added ability to CREATE PRODUCTS with a vb style editor via the CPadmin or via the forums, Teds would be perfect for thousands of vbulletin websites!

Something simple, more personal that works. I would gladly pay for that.

Maybe there are two different GARS sites? I can't see a legit demo or any info on GARS confirming its ready for vb4. I'm guessing its the owner of GARS) asks if we are interested but provides no link (confirmed). So we need to google GARS only to find a site with dated info and a goofy download link requesting money for what?

For those familiar with your GARS, this may be a no brainer but for those not, is it ready for a production site? From my perspective, GARS appears to be dated and unclear if it is ready?

Anyone care to enlighten the unfamiliar, I'm interested in something that works for vb4. Out of all the hype here, It appears Adrian is the real deal.

Cheers!

Try deleting all the code inbetween lines 295-357 in gars_admin_phrases.php while you do the install

Edit - after looking at the code again it maybe 295-355 but It only needed it for me an upgrade (not clean install) and I haven't got a test site to upgrade to try it out atm.

Thanks for your support but doesn't work, if I remove until 355 it gives no message but doesn't complete the install, if remove until 357 get again the message "The Three Stooges...".
I'm upgrading, no clean install.

z3r0 03-20-2012 09:34 PM

I just tried the clean install again and that worked fine, I only did the upgrade once and from my notes that was what I needed to do to get it to complete.

If your interested in getting to upgrade working I'll download a backup of one of my 3.8 sites tomorrow and do a 4.1.11 update and find the steps I used for the gars upgrade.

This would be fantastic and very helpful z3r0, thank you very much.
