Not for sharing.

you can kill me but you have to tell me :(

Very good job, Lionel. For all the great job you've done with that site, I can only admire you.

I had to spend $29.00 to get it going. Folks here seem to be pretty upset and demanding when they have to dish out money. The initial configuration is tedious and took me 4 days. Thanks but no thanks, I have no more energy left to go over things, specially it would have to be customized per case. Given that some people have problems with simple modules, that one will definitely overwhelm them.

On a good note it can hold unlimited amount of pictures (I have 150 currently in there) and the site opens up instantly since it does not add one single query.

Anyone wants it, would have to pay me for the install, and 4 days of work is not cheap.

Hi Lionel, I've installed everything as per your instructions, but for some reason I can't get the slideshow effect. When I click on any of the numbers or arrows, nothing happens. The first 'page' works (ie. I can click it and it takes me to the corresponding post), but I can't access any others.

Just so I'm clear, I'm supposed to make a new thread for every 'page' I want in the slideshow, and the latest attachment to the first post will be the image shown?

Also, I also don't have the solid grey bar at the bottom that stretches the length of the module like your attached images do. Mine only appears as the background for the numbers/navigation.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, and thanks for a great mod!

Sorry about all the questions, but I have to ask one more: is there a way to only display one 'loading' image, instead of one in the center and one at the top?

Ok, I bought the "Frontpage Slideshow" component/module combo from JoomlaWorks.

I think I may have made a mistake, as the install instructions consisted of sending me Lionel's file (above) and saying thank you.... :D

Anyway, after reading most of the posts here 10 times, I think I have a basic grasp of this. I'm stuck at the question "Identifier" in the add PHP module function of vBa CMPS. I can't leave it blank as it won't accept that. What do I put in?

I followed Lionel's statement.... but make sure you select YES for clean file output and Use Module Shell Template: NO, but I thought I'd ask if there are any other surprises or fields I need to fill in?

I also set the access for Admin only, as I suspect this isn't going to go right the first time around. :p

I'm not sure I have my forums path set right, but we'll find out, if I can get past this stage.

Thanks for any help folks can give me here ...

Regards,
Badger

Ok, does anybody have any idea what I do to clear up this?

The pic shows the result of running the PURCHASED (22 Euros) Joomla code along with Lionel's slideshow.php (provide by Joomla), pointing to a single forum with just one post in it that contains 5 attached JPG files.

Any help would be appreciated...

Thanks

Regards,
Badger

Ok, got a little further.... ;)

See attached....

Now it won't load anything...

Badger

Did everything by the instructions, but get this error.

Quote:

Warning: fopen(/home/traderre/public_html/forum/clientscript/mod_fpslideshow/mod_fpslideshow.js) [function.fopen]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in /modules/slideshow.php on line 193

Warning: fwrite(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /modules/slideshow.php on line 194

Warning: fclose(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /modules/slideshow.php on line 195
It does pull one of the 3 images I uploaded in the selected forum (Image attached). The image shows up just below the error.

The error is falling on the line for the forum path. I know the forum path is correct because I uploaded a script.

http://www.traderretreat.com/forum/modules/pathinfo.php

This returned:

Quote:

/home/traderre/public_html/forum/modules/pathinfo.php
So I changed what you had to:

Quote:

("/home/traderre/public_html/forum/clientscript/mod_fpslideshow/mod_fpslideshow.js",'w');
Any ideas?

I just noticed something, my files came with 2 .js files.

fpss
fpss_uncut

What gives? There is no mod_fpslideshow.js

michaelsilvia 05-05-2007 05:24 AM

This may be the most frustrating mod I have dealt with. I run all the install, waste a full hour and then I am told "contact Joomla Works" by Lionel (thanks for the fast reply!). I go to the website and after some searching find this thread.
http://forum.joomlaworks.gr/index.php?topic=99.0

They tell you about it and say, "e-mail Joomla Works". Is there e-mail a secret? I had to do some searching of the site to find it. I will save you all some pain.

joomlaworks@gmail.com

Let me repeat this in plain English. When you buy the program from Joomla Works it will ONLY work with Joomla. Even though the company promotes this thread/mod and the integration with vBulletin, they DO NOT put the mod_fpslideshow.js file with the zip you download after purchase.

This was like a treasure hunt! I don't know why the company can't just add the file in a folder that says "vbulletin". Terrible business practice in my opinion. Hopefully this post will save some people time and Lionel should update this in the first thread so users don't have to read 18 pages to get to this.
