I've got a forum where users cannot see others users threads, and on shout box they can view when somebody replies that thread.

IE:

USER A CREATE "TEST"
USER B CANNOT SEE "TEST"
USER A REPLY "TEST"
USER B USING SHOUTBOX CAN SEE THAT USER MADE A POST ON THREAD "TEST"

Is it ok?

They will simply receive a no permissions error when clicking the thread, there's no problem :)

Unfortunately it's not feasible for me to check those kind of permissions :(

How do people reset their comment color like it was the first time?
I do have a black and a white board style and the text color of the comments changes with the styles (white text becomes black text and visa versa). But when people change their color, the text color stays the same in both styles. The problem is, for example, when people choose a white text color, the comments can't be read in the white board style anymore (white on white). So how do they change it back like it was?

You can run
Code:

UPDATE user SET dbtech_vbshout_shoutstyle = NULL
(remember to add your table prefix) to reset all shout styles. I would then edit the problematic colours out of the colour template under the vBShout Templates group.

Just installed it today, one question, how would you put the entire chat at the bottom of the site opposed to the top? Thanks.

If you read instructions received with vBshout mod, you'll find this pretty explaining instructions:

Quote:

/*================================================= ==============/*================================================= =====================*\
|| 2. Custom Shoutbox Locations ||
\*================================================ ======================*/

The method for displaying the Shoutbox in custom locations have been
improved upon, and as such the old display method is no longer valid.

If you enter the Instance Manager you'll see that there's a "varname"
display there.

The new syntax for displaying the shoutbox instance is:
{$show[vbshout_VARNAME]}
where VARNAME is the varname you found in the Instance Manager.

For instance, if the "varname" is "instance1" then the code to place
in your template of choice is:
{$show[vbshout_instance1]}

I have purchased the PRO version and need clarification on the PM notification.

When someone sends a PM, the notification is made on the main shoutbox. However, a tab does not appear unless you click on the username and select Send Private Message to that user. Only then a new tab will appear of the PM conversation. Is there any way where a PM tab is created automatically when a user sends a PM?

Questions regarding the PRO version need to be asked on the developers site in the pro support forum for the mod. :)

Can you link to the vBShout from another website? We would like to link to our vBShout box from our main page at huskermax.com. Our BBS is on a different server and I have it above the footer. So the link would load the main page of the bbs up the page would load down at the footer level. Maybe with some kind of anchor or something?

The reason you use a chatbox/shoutbox on vbulletin is for the association to the user information database. If your are coming from another server will you already be authenticated with vbulletin? Not that I like the plan, but you could load vbulletin core and your chatbox in a specially crafted IFRAME on your main page.

Depending on what you are doing you might just want a 3rd party chatbox. :)

Our shoutbox in on a vBulletin board. But our BBS is part of a large sports site. We had to put the two sites on different servers to handle the load. I think I got this figured out with you and and another guys help on the anchor question on the main vb4 forum.

How do you shut off the notifications to users post counts. I have all notifications off that I can find in the settings but it is still notifying when users hit a certain post count.
