You're not the first - that's why I recognised the error. :)

steadicamop 04-20-2005 06:16 PM

Ok this is gonna sound dumb ... how do I post articles? I can't find anything anywhere on how to post one ... there's no button, nothing, I feel stupid, but just can't find it!!
[edit]Sorry ... I have 2 image directories as I'm using a different skin, I forgot to put the image files in there ... working like a charm now  [/edit]

steadicamop 04-20-2005 07:37 PM

My images appear as links, not as thumbnails, is there any way of changing this? As far as I am aware my provider has GD2 installed, thumbs work fine on VBB itself.

Again, my goof, sorry bud, you're really looking out for me here, and one more thing, the images aren't centred, is this right? Would there be any way of centering them? Pardon the spelling on the centre thing .....

Check here to see what I mean - you should be able to see the images

http://www.steadiforum.com/article.php?a=1

Thanks!

Paul M 04-20-2005 08:56 PM

All the images that I can see are centred.

steadicamop 04-21-2005 06:11 AM

I tell ya .... Firefox still has a lot to answer for ..... they don't appear centred in Firefox but no problems at all with IE

Read the instructions properly and follow them. :)

kenwen 05-04-2005 06:37 PM

And when i try to set the permissions in admincp for guests being able to view comments the page does a weird scroll jump to another segment and leaves the option unselected? :ermm:

Any advice? Cheers

CC-Master 05-16-2005 03:36 PM

Sounds interessting, but the demo site seems to be down. Are there any other demo sites available or an alternative managing articles with websites running vb3?

Paul M 05-16-2005 03:55 PM

Well we aren't a demo site - but you are welcome to look at our articles section.

I thought only Admins could moderate submitted articles in the stock vBarticles code.

What about a Super Mod with Admin privs? It seems that the articles bit shows up in their admin panel but when they try to moderate are told they don't have permission. How can I get around this without making them a full out moderator?

RCSwap 05-31-2005 09:36 PM

I have recently instelled this hack and it's not bad. The only problem I have is that the layout is a little cluttered (at least on my board it is). Anyways, which file and where in the file can I make the following changes:

1. Remove the "Post a Comment section". I don't need my members posting any comments on product reviews or how-to sections.

2. Remove the "Media" box that is around the images and then move the images so that they are above the "Rate this article" part.

Other then that the hack looks good. It's nice and simple for what is need and was a breeze to instal.

FleaBag 06-14-2005 04:46 PM

This may be old news but I just took a look through the database fields and found this in almost every article...

Thanks acid! Lol...

Paul M 06-14-2005 04:48 PM

That's why a security fix was released (by me) in late December.

FleaBag 06-14-2005 05:27 PM

Aye I know dude, I was just never too sure what had happened originally. Not knocking the hack, please don't think I was. :)

Makes no odds to me, it's not my hack - I just released an update that I had applied to my version. I was just making sure you were aware of it. :)

tommyxv 06-17-2005 04:19 AM

I installed the software today. It's working great. Is there a way for me to add a remove featured article button somewhere? I know the do=feature link works, but would like to add a button somewhere if possible.

I also get a link instead of the image for the featured article. I installed the latest version and upgrade v.1.0.1. GD 2 is working fine on the forums.

Thanks,

dreck 06-24-2005 04:31 AM

How can I uninstall v3 Articles 1.0.1 from my database?
I still see it in the admincp!

tommyxv 06-24-2005 11:02 PM

Me too, removed all file edits.

????

tommyxv 07-06-2005 04:26 AM

BUMP.

How to remove v3 articles completely? I removed all file edits and drop the article tables, but still have v3articles showing up in the admncp under vbulletin options. I deleted the phrase, but the space is still there and still brings me another page with nothing on it but a save button. I ran the uninstaller too.

Help..anyone...please :ermm:

Littlebit 07-06-2005 01:28 PM

I believe if you cofig to debug mode you'll see an option to remove or edit a settings set. But I think you can find it by browsing settings in your database too. It's been a while since I did it, I hope I'm remembering correctly for you.

Paul M 07-06-2005 05:10 PM

Put you board into debug mode and then delete the settings and group.

ImportPassion 07-09-2005 09:39 PM

is there a way to apply permissions to different categories?

Paul M 07-09-2005 10:06 PM

nope.

sORRY wrong article hack

dieselpowered 07-10-2005 06:09 AM

Alright, before I lose my mind...can someone please explain to me how I can delete this hack.

I ran the un-installer and I still have options showing in the AdminCP...I deleted those from the index.php file, however, still have options showing in the permissions???

If someone could be so kind to help me with this it would be appreciated...thanks!

Paul M 07-10-2005 12:12 PM

You have to reverse all the file edits.

dieselpowered 07-10-2005 04:00 PM

Ok so the permissions are not fed from Database edits but from actual file edits?

dontpanic 07-16-2005 02:32 AM

Also wondering how to "un"feature an article....

Thanks!

Paul M 07-16-2005 03:58 AM

dontpanic 07-16-2005 12:31 PM

OK, thanks, that was easy! :)

is this test for the current version of VB?

or is there a newer article system?

Not really sure what you mean - this runs on vB 3.0.7 if that's your question. There are at least two other article hacks if you search for them, both also run on 3.0.7.

I'm the owner of my site and admin and When I try and edit the permissions, I get an error but i followed the instructions. Any help? I still get "You don't have enough privillages".

That error seems to come from an arcade hack, not the articles hack.
