Hey Ted,

not sure what is causing this, I am unable to go to the next page in Manage Products & Reviews through the AdminCP, it just takes me back to the page you first see when you go into Manage Products & Reviews when I click Next Page.

I saw that someone else brought this up but the issue never got resolved as the poster doesn't seem to have returned. My Product listings will end up in the high hundreds fairly soon, the next page function is really a concern, is there a fix for this please.

The fix was posted up pages ago if you can find it... If not it will be in 1.3.

Thank you Ted, that works perfectly. :)

Is there any way to add a column for the Manufacturer to the left of the Product column? Also, a way to rearrange the "search" fields so that they line up with their respective columns below?

Yes, you can use the mfrg field to call this up.

I suppose it's possible although the widths will be off so you may have to change the field formats / sizes.

Everything is templated to make it very simple to change -- one for the main page body and search fields, another for the individual records.

I know you're all eagerly [or perhaps angrily] waiting for 1.3 so here's the first sneak peak of the new optional review fields... You get three data types: yes/no, 5-star and freeform. Fun, huh?

And before you ask: These are global options. Category specific versions will come in in the next rev.

Ted S 07-12-2012 06:42 AM

And what's this... an image uploader? Automatic thumbnails? Even having them show up in the product forums index? And the search results? Yup. :D

And before you ask: We're already thinking about multiple images... For the next rev.

Ted S 07-12-2012 07:09 AM

Ok, one more sneak peak for the night...

Yes, that's right, it's a forum showing thumbnails in place of the thread icon [sorry, no new post indicator]. And oh ya, that is a new product link at the bottom too!

And before you ask: A manual hack still required for this one, no escaping that with the current vB.

Kirk Fitzgerald 07-12-2012 07:28 AM

The coming update looks to be very exciting and promising, looking forward to it immensely. :)

Walking through it this evening I'm excited as well... We're getting close...

I have installed the product but this the message that appear on http://www.naijafinder.com/productforums.php

The administrator of this site must disable the vBulletin option "Add Template Name in HTML Comments", a debugging feature, to use this mod. Unless of course they want debugging comments in the reviews.

Please how do i resolve this to enable the page to show?

You need to add products for products to show up...

That's done through the Product Forums area in your Admin CP or, if enabled, from the user side's via productforums.php?do=addproduct

One more sneak peak... This one looks unassuming but it adds up. We're talking about the activity bit... every time someone writes a review we'll add one making it easy for reviews to get social.

And to answer your question: Yes, we've removed new products and review threads from the activity stream. No more "empty post" bits!

p.s. ... It's almost beta time... Are you ready?

Big news PRF users...

Version 1.3.0 beta has been released marking a major update to the Product Review Forums system. Lots has been changed but before we get into that here's what you should know...

This update is currently in beta.
Why? Because it's a major change and while it's running live on a few sites caution is always best. Have a look, play around, but please don't just install it into production.

So what's new?

Lots done, and yes, more to come...
  • Customizable rating options... yes/no, 5-star and text freeform
  • Product images. You upload, we resize [gd required]
  • Thumbnails all over... the product index, even forum display
  • Activity Stream updates when a review is posted
  • Improvements to product management for speedier changes
  • Automatic add product links for the user
  • Cleaned up product adding interfaces
  • Lots of small tweaks, bug fixes and other changes
Upgrading: Upload all of the files in the upload folder. Install the new plugin. Check your settings [image options especially].

For those of you who customized 1.2.4 template edits are too extensive to list but almost all cosmetic so use a merge tool. CSS changes are marked. Images added too but not overwritten.

Install Guide: If you're new to PRF be sure to read our install guide.

View the complete change log

imported_dfmafia 07-13-2012 04:09 AM

installed on Version vB 4.2.0 PL 2

Testing, Thanks!!

----EDIT----

install page says:

Quote:

Step 8: Product Review Forums can resize images for you with two additional settings [GD is required]:

Image Upload Path: The absolute path images should be posted too [i.e. /var/www/home/forum/productimages chmod 0777]
but in the admincp the option says:

Quote:

Image Upload Path
To use image uploading set the full path to a folder for product images to be saved too. CHMOD to 0755.

----EDIT----

all upgraded and working great. Thanks agian!!

Installed on localhost with 4.2PL2, no problems so far barr one issue, in the forum display the icon is not being resized. I have used an image that is 220px x 220px to force resizing, as you can see the image is not being resized, is this normal?

Attachment 139768

**** EDIT ****

The forumdisplay uses the small icon... Are you using the uploader or just inserting the same image path into all 3 fields?

I'll see if we can force a resize but as its a 40x40 and theres a lot of them, keeping file size down seems important too :D

Can you turn on error debugging and see what additional details are provided?

Also, does this happen with products created via the admin as well [you mentioned moderation so I assume this item was added as "user"]?

I added a new product through the add product button in the forum, there is only one image upload field where you enter the image url, there is no uploader!

I have tried altering existing Product by duplicating the same image url, this is where I found the not resizing thing.

On another point, when clicking the Upload a new product photo? in manage products I get this error:

The requested URL was not found on this server. The link on the referring page seems to be wrong or outdated. Please inform the author of that page about the error.

Existing Products will not have the other icons either would they, this will be a pain for sites already using this mod, in a day or so my site will around 300 products listed, nadgers to editing them all to include the new icons, can this be done during the upgrade, or will it have to be a manual edit process?.

Updated to reflect 1.3.0 beta 2 changes.

You can enter a url when you make a product but to upload you have to create the product first... Made this a little clearer in beta 2. No worries though, our new bulk resizer will turn those links into images for you.

Resizing 300 images would timeout the browser for the installer and can't be done until we have your settings anyways. We've made a resync script that's in the next version, solves the problem.

Update posted. Removed.

imported_dfmafia 07-13-2012 06:30 PM

cool, I'm checking on my end again.

yes, i used one of my vendor users to add the product and had no issues.

i resized and uploaded to a local directory for my thumbnails before inputting them as links - no issues. though i will test the resizing today since my vendors have gotten excited about this product

Upload this version of admincp/productforums.php and it should resize all external images into 300x300, 60x60 and 40x40 thumbnails.

Note: all existing image urls will be removed. Back up the pf_product table before you run this to be safe.

We just finished up a bulk resizer script which will let you import XML data or add images manually and can then build out the thumbnails... Saves time if you're copying & pasting.

As far as the error, that's getting triggered when we try to create a new thread so I wonder if there's a missing element or issue with the forum it's going into? The error debug should help.

We had an issue posting your review because of Array. Try again or report this to our team and incldue code 164251-B.

I still get this error. no more details showed up. this is a user added product with another user trying to add a review

don't think it matters but my admincp isnt admincp anymore. it was the first thing I changed for security reasons.
would you like to take a look at my setup to see if I missed a step on the install/upgrade? I can PM details.

Strange, the debug message is a different phrase. Let's try it with this script ---

Also, is your Review Thread Forum set for new posts?

imported_dfmafia 07-13-2012 07:32 PM

yes, it is set for new posts.

uploaded and still no joy. same error message when I submit a review

Silly question but are you using the admin version in the admin folder?

If so, what does your error_log say? White screens tend to mean a script or include error that may be related to your specific server or php settings.

Here it is again... There's no mention of "164251-B" in this script so if you get the same error, we know where to start.

Note: got your PM, but we need to solve this first as it's not something I can change via your admin.

Note: this is for /forums/productforums.php

It's the big link on the edit product page... you must have an item created first.

In our beta 2 release we spell this out on the add product page as well.

Alternatively you can keep using image links and then run the bulk importer [also in beta 2] which will move them over for you.

So sorry, you can either change line 498 to print_r($errors) or use this version. Ill also drop you a PM with our support email to make this easier if you like.

Note: Once again this is /forums/productforums.php
