once the 3 months are up you can use it forever you just wont get any more updates for it support will still be there
you would be best to get the life time one so you can get all the updates

n00bl3t 10-31-2011 02:59 AM

I'm curious; the LITE says "vB4 Only: Forum Sidebar block type for button feeds"

But the forum sidebar isn't working. Is it a PRO only feature?

Roxie 10-31-2011 04:26 AM

Is this update for pro?
I have a pro version, but the support expired in August.
Does that mean the if I update I can only get the free updates?
Kind of confused there.

No it's not, and sadly "not working" doesn't really give me much to work with :)

Correct, you need to either delete the Pro files and use the Lite version with current updates, or get a renewal for your licence in order to get the Pro update :)

I went to "Forums & Moderators" then went to "Forum Blocks Manager"

I went and clicked "Add Block" and found the "DBTech - Post Thanks Feed"

Clicked Continue, and set it up but it just doesn't show. There is no block or anything.

Sorry; is it just a v4 only or v4 or higher? 0.o

DragonByte Tech 11-01-2011 01:42 AM

vB4 means it's for vBulletin 4.x only.

As for the not showing up, I really don't know. Maybe you are running a cache system like vB Optimise that's preventing the new block data from appearing?

In either case I do not have any usergroup permissions running or anything else that would hide the content so I don't think there's anything I can do about that :(

Fillip

n00bl3t 11-01-2011 01:54 AM

Damn would really love to have this.

I'm running 4.1.4 and I don't think I'm running any plugins that would prevent new data...

I'll keep searching and dig for information I guess.

Yup; I tested that. I had like 4 people just randomly click thank you just to test out if the feed would pop up; but nothing did. Oh well.

After updated the mod to the new version 2 I get on every post

Please ensure you've uploaded all files, because that function is absolutely defined in /dbtech/thanks/includes/class_core.php :)

niftyfutureking 11-03-2011 04:43 AM

is there an option of removing the credits which get displayed at the bottom of the pages generated by the post thanks lite mod if I pay for it. Kindly let me know how much needs to be paid and where...

DragonByte Tech 11-03-2011 06:12 AM

There's a Branding Free licence available @ our website www.dragonbyte-tech.com

vB.org rules prevent me from linking to it directly, though it should be pretty straightforward from there :)

Ok, so let's say I'm buying the Pro version with 3 months updates. After those three months, vB is changing its version from 4.1.x to 4.2.x or 4.5.x. Because of that changing it could be possible to need some changes of the mod aswell. Would I receive those kind of updates after the 3 months period or not ? I think these kind of updates should be included forever... as far as it could appear errors between the mod and the new version of vB.
Upgrades of the mod and other pluses/modifications... should remain for those with active licenses only. But what is about the functionality of the mod should be free.. as far as I bought it sometime in the past.
Waiting for an answer.
Thanks.

cloferba 11-03-2011 03:58 PM

I have deleted all the files again
Also uninstalled the plugin

Then I uploaded all again..and still getting:
Fatal error: Call to undefined method THANKS::processEntries() in /var/www/vhosts/xxxxx.com/httpdocs/forum/dbtech/thanks/hooks/showthread_complete.php on line 5

sinucello 11-03-2011 04:54 PM

Hi,
very nice mod, just bought the pro-version.

I find two things that could/should be improved:

In the hottest.php action file the defined buttons are listed without checking if they are set inactive:
PHP Code:

$templater vB_Template::create('dbtech_thanks_statistics_statisticbit');

$templater->register('phrase'$vbphrase['dbtech_thanks_hottest_threads'] . ' - ' $button['title']);

$templater->register('userbits'implode(''$threadbits));

IMHO it would be better to list only those buttons that are set active.

Ajax is nice but for those who are not able to use JS there should be a fallback enabling them to use the function. If this is not possible, please consider to insert the whole button via JS so that those without JS are not bothered with a non functional link after each post.

all the best,
Sacha

EDIT: will post it to the pro bug-forum

Unfortunately it would be a logistical nightmare for us to maintain vB compatibility with old versions. If such a time arises, you'd be free to revert to using the Lite version or purchase a renewal :)

I'll summon Iain to this thread as well so he can explain in more detail the business decisions behind it - I simply focused on my part of the business in my response.

I'll change the hottest.php file for the upcoming bugfix version, thanks :)

I don't think the JS change is something we'll rush to do since the vast majority of browsers and users have JS enabled (I assume, as you're the first person in my 8 years of coding that have mentioned it) but if you re-post it as a feature suggestion over at our forum, we'll take it into consideration regardless.

For the future, could you post in the Pro support forum on DBTech? Response times there are much more rapid as I get instant email notif when you start a thread :)

Hello Fillip,
thank you, I posted it in your pro-forum. And yes, I`m used to being the first one mentioning accessibility related stuff. I introduced this topic into the TYPO3 open-source CMS and it took me about 8 years and governmental funding to get things going there ;-). Please just consider that not only disabled users benefit from it. There are also a lot of poor folks behind restricitve firewalls and suffering other technical burdens that keep them from enjoying the fancy stuff.
all the best,
Sacha

As Fillip said it would be almost impossible to pull this off - it would require every version of the mod, from v 1.0 to version X.X to be upgraded every time vbulletin updates.

Not doing this is standard practice with all software, including vBulletin mods for pretty much all companies.

What about a basic thumbs up -or- thumbs down.. Is that available?

DragonByte Tech 11-04-2011 09:41 PM

If you're looking for a system like - say - Reddit, then unfortunately APTL cannot be used for that, it's not what it was designed to do :(

Advanced Post Thanks / Like v2.0.2:
Fix: Potential fix for custom profile styles looking odd
Fix: Potential fix for a reset() error on some PHP versions when performing Maintenance actions that had nothing to do.
Fix: Inactive buttons still showed up on the Hottest Threads / Posts page
Fix: Hidden buttons still showed clickers on the Statistics page
Change: Changed instances of "N/A" to the "Hidden Content" phrase to eliminate confusion
Change: Includes compatibility for future versions of vBActivity & Awards
Note: Edit / save any custom buttons (i.e. buttons beyond Thanks / Like / Dislike) to ensure vBAA compatibility is properly applied.

Hello,

i installed your hack but i don't see the entry in usergroup permissions. What's wrong? :)

DragonByte Tech 11-07-2011 11:00 AM

Usergroup permissions are in the Button Manager, as each button has its own permission set :)

Hi

I installed this mod and after that registered users could not find the upload from computer link in the wysiwyg editor....when I mailed to the support team they asked me to try disabling the mods I had installed and only one mod which was the APTL, which I had installed, when I disabled it again it starts to work.

Kindly let me know if I had done something wrong in the installation or the mod interferes with something that needs to be fixed...

thanks in advance..

niftyfutureking 11-07-2011 02:05 PM

I have the vb 4.1.7 version

Swedie 11-07-2011 02:14 PM

I installed this today on a pretty much clean (vBulletin 4.1.7 Patch Level 1) and when I click on "Like this post" nothing happens. Maybe a reload of the page. The URL says "javascript://". Nothing appears to be saved and no "thanks" records are found.

What's wrong?

I'm unable to confirm this issue. Either from the Quick Reply editor or from the Go Advanced full reply page, clicking the image button still gives an option to upload from computer.

If that's not what you meant, please clarify with a screenshot :)

Please check Firefox' Error Console. The link saying javascript:// is normal :)

Error: data is null
File: http://x/dbtech/thanks/clientscript/thanks.js?v=202
Row: 44

Some script with securitytoken?

DragonByte Tech 11-08-2011 06:44 AM

I'll need to see this for myself as I have more advanced debugging tools that can help here. Could you please PM me with an account (no admin perms are needed) that can access the Thanks button, and a link to a test thread I can thank?
I should be able to tell you what's going on then :)

What version of MySQL are you running? The problem is a DB error, but this is the first I've seen of it and multiple people have reported it working...

Using 5.0.83. Any issues with this version?

I hope you can have this solved. I have a "stock" vB 4.1.7.

When is this going to be released? Reason I ask is that now people are complaing that it doesn't work.

DragonByte Tech 11-09-2011 07:16 AM

I was hoping to get away with not doing a hotfix and releasing it on Friday but alas xD
I've updated the .zip, if you re-dload and re-upload it should be all good now :)
