by doing threads in certain sections of the boards which you have implemented

any chance to make them pay certain credits before they download attachments (in certain sections only - not board wide)

threads in certain sections of the board? you mean apply overrides for values in different forums? its already in 1.3 (but getting a major upgrade for 1.4)

as for a download attachment system, theres addons coming for that. 1.4 introduces a credit award for uploading attachments (but not download management) so you can tax or award uploads

So... I had installed Icash and now have vBCredits installed and working great.

Can I go through and completely uninstall iCash with no problems?

yes, although you may wish to run the icash converter so your users dont lose any of their points :)

How difficult would it be to charge credits to post in a particular forum, if the member has no credits then they can't post in that forum?

Edit: Ok I see that you can change the credits in each particilaur forium. So I can set it to say -20 to take credits away when posting, but if a user has 0 credits then it just puts there credits into minus figures. How can one prevent posting in a particular forum if the user doesn't have enough credits?

Just installed VBCredits on VBulletin 3.6.8 – the instructions to modify postbit_legacy aren’t accurate – the “find” code can’t be found (default template).

Is this going to be fatal if we try running the system?

I'm using it on vBulletin 3.6.8, so if you want say, the edited template code I can give you it easily. Because I had no difficulty running it after upgrading and even readding the template changes.

no, not at all! premium members on my site get a prerelease copy of the beta until the free stable version is completed. you are welcome to test any aspect of the latest version on the site for free too, if you needed extra credits for something just send me a PM and ill hook you up.

In the phrase editor in the ACP, search for the global phrase credits. Apply a translation to it to change it to something else. 1.4 has a link to it :-p 1.4 should hit full version in a few days

to download the new beta u got to be a privledge member which costs money so basically you cant get a copy now till its released here unless u pay to become privledge which defeats the object.
Nice hack dont get me wrong but paying to test out betas is wrong.

You are NOT paying to test betas, you are buying a premium membership, and as a benefit of that membership you are allowed to obtain the mod early and test it in its beta stage. As far as i know you would also be able to test other mods released there in thier beta stages. Just perks of being a premium member like any other sites with premium membership.

We're eyeballing both sites, but its easier for those helping test our beta scripts if they post on our site. Once we release final public stable version we'll be supporting the updated version both on this site and our site as best we can, although it does make it eaiser on our site.

As for charging for the script ARE not we just felt those that bought products already and or old/new premium accounts would be the best cadidates in a controlled group to test this mod before we release it to the masses here for free..

Imagine trying to support 202,000 members vs say 20 in a controlled beta...

So far dark is getting a few hours sleep, then he'll be working on making sure all our addons and converters are working with vbcredits 1.4 and or cleaning up the script its self for final release.

Those that want to help us know great, those that complain we don't have time to explain everything, you'll be getting it for free once stabke anyway in a few more days.

Props goes out to everyone that's used our script or us helping us iron out bugs so we can get this out faster :D

I have to be honest and say I also had this same thought when I read this thread earlier, I am happy to donate to a good script, but I wont pay a fee to beta test a script then offer feedback on the script to make it better then it gets released for free, that part I have difficulty getting my head around.

It's either a free script, or it isnt.

They're NOT charging for the Script. They are simply giving advanced BETA copies to folks who are generous enough to support them or have purchased their premium products. In case you haven't noticed, we don't have anyone else out there developing quality add-ons of this type. It takes a LOT of time, hard work, and money to get something like this going. They need support (and not just by clicking install). If you don't want to pay, then wait, it's that simple.

The release of the final product version will be free from what I have read on the vbCredits website. Some of us have chosen to pay/support this so that everyone can benefit from the use of this incredible system. To each their own I say. :up:

I don't mean to bash here but i cant believe that you would UNinstall a script because you didn't read the post fully or were too goofy to understand that they are NOT charging for the script. The level of support i've gotten from these guys rival any major mod i've bought for vbulletin and let me tell you, the others weren't free like these are. Again for a second time, they are promoting Premium Membership, simple as that. As a benefit of that membership you would get access to the beta versions of those mods as well as other perks of being a Premium Member! If you dont want to pay for a premiun membership, then by all means wait a little while for it to be released free like they said they would.

Everyone, even if you would prefer to wait for the REGULARLY free version, you can ALL see and try vbcredits 1.4 on my site for the time being. for free >.< why are we arguing over this?

i can think of a certain other major points hack which is only offering the beta to users who buy branding free. until then, users test it live on the official site, and nobody seems to be mobbing him over it, yet hes been late for months on end :) we are following a similar release model, except with a little expansion of it.

as for those who uninstall over this...why? 1.3 is still free, and 1.4 will be free, and all the way to v7.9 will be free too!!! (if im still upgrading it in 30 years ;)) but...version 8.0, i dont know... lol

if i had no intention of having vbcredits be 100% free for the entire time in existence, i would not have initially uploaded it to vbulletin.org. 1) cause it breaks the rules 2) because i want everyone to be using the best, no matter what financial background they come from, because i started out as a broke 13 year old admin who had to pay back his mom for 4 months too :-p
