http://forum.website.com/
http://forum.website.com/groups/

My config file is set to: chdir("../");

Everything else appears to be fine, even though I've not really tested it yet. I just want to get the images path straightened out . Thanks.

please elaborate.

This part isn't clear, really. Remember, instruction manuals need to cater to all levels ^^ Is your user supposed to run the installer before he uploads it to his server? I suggest making the steps a bit clearer, e.g.

1) Template Edites
2) Configure files
3) Upload files
4) Run installer.php
5) Upload the product from root. (and by that do you mean the forum folder, or the website folder. I tend to upload my product files from my computer rather then from the server location.)

Also something about different locations. Is it possible to put /groups in .com/forums/groups ? or does it have to be on the same level as the forums?

let's try and work this post out.

ok, i'll change the order in the install.txt

why would you upload the product from root when the product isn't within the root folder?

yes it is possible to run your groups below the forum directory.

sabret00the 12-15-2006 01:37 PM

Ok reading through this thread again, i can see that there's confusion over these two phrases in the usergroup settings
PHP Code:

Can Edit Messages Posted In Groups
Can Delete Messages Posted In Groups

i'm going to change the phrases to
PHP Code:

Can Edit Own Messages Posted In Groups
Can Delete Own Messages Posted In Groups

hope that'll clear up some of the confusion.

Regarding kicking user, i've made it a group leader ability on the group edit page (editgroup.php) would that suffice for the users requesting it? or do admins require the ability to do it from the admincp?

ps. the ability to kick users is a vbulletin option, so unless you enable this option groupleaders can't kick members.

Double post prevention? Could you disable this, then, please. vBulletin has adequate tools for this built in, and I have no desire to prevent people making two posts when they want to.

If you're talking about flood limit control, it doesnt work like that.

Cheers for the other answers. Erm, well i spent some time reading this thread....and...somewhere that phrase stuck in my head, and I could have sworn it was in the install file. Could just be me going insane.:cross-eyed: Which is very possible, as I recently did a dual upgrade of vBulletin and vbDrupal, so I'm going slightly nuts.

Either way, this app is looking fantastic, and I'm looking forward to releasing it to my users when the next release comes out!

Actually i did. This is what is there now:

chdir("/home/karaokes/public_html/groups/");

Tried several different paths but nothing seemed to work. I would really love to use this product. Please advise.

This doesn't really classify as a bug, but when a thread is clicked, it always goes to the start of the thread, instead of the last viewed post like on the regular forums. Is it doable to change that? I don't know my php well enough to change it myself.

More of a wish, it would be nice if you could subscribe to threads in groups just like in the main forums and access the threads directly from the user cp. Probably much more involved than is possible, though.

disable double post prevention huh? i'll give some thought into making it an option.

please note: the release of the next version is awaiting feedback from this thread.

My concern with hacks (I would love to add this one!) is the frequent updates of the vBulletin software. Will hacks like this one work under next updates/upgrades?

for the first one, i'll definitely see about increasing usability. as for the second though, it really depends on demand, personally i don't see the logic in thread subscriptions for groups but you're more likely to get that usability as a separate add-on than part of the stock product as this stage.

indeed it will/would and should any conflicts arise they'll definitely be fixed in as short a time as possible.

A couple other things.

There doesn't seem to be a 'post reply' button at the bottom of threads. The only way to get to the full reply page is to click 'go advanced' in the quick reply box.

When previewing a post, the preview appears, but that doesn't doesn't stay in the textarea of post reply box, so it defeats the purpose. This may be tied into the quote issue where the quoted text doesn't show up on the textarea.

Own osts - I haven't actually tried editing as an admin.

Well, the problem with it is that it works completely differently to the way vBulletin works, which confuses the heck out of users for no reason. If they've been posting away merrily on the messageboards, then go to a group and post, they don't expect the software to suddenly behave completely differently. vBulletin has excellent flood control prevention already.

i'm joking. you'd have to copy the contents of the plugin marked "GRPS: Group Activity In User CP (15 Newest)" to a new plugin at the grps_global_start and prefix it with
PHP Code:

if (THIS_SCRIPT == 'groupshome')

and suffix it with
PHP Code:

and then do what Morrus said :)

Anyone know how to do this for the profile page? This is set up to work with $grps_mygroupsbits, but when you're viewing someone else's profile, you obviously want to see their groups, not your own.

Indeed it does work differently to the stock product. however if i had my way it would be part of the stock product. that said i've not actually dismissed the idea. i'm just saying i'll consider it, i do only have limited time and there are things much more urgent that need sorting.

if i get time it will get into this release. :)

For myself, I'm just waiting for 2.0.5. I'll look at that for bugs when it's released if I end up using it (depends on how some things end up working).

Yup, you said some things would be fixed in 2.0.5, some were inetntional, and, IIRC, you couldn't replicate some others. So easiest thing to do is wait for 2.0.5, upgrade, and see how the thing looks. :)

Will you include the users groups in profiles in this version? If not I'm going to whip one out for my site. No big deal either just checking before I get to coding.

Any Idea on the sytle bug where I cannot change to just the normal postbit?

What about making this count towards post counts?

Last thing, SEO support? It that possible?

New Zip/Release:
Groups v2.0.5.zip:
bug fix regarding those introduced via 2.0.4, new features such as double post prevention disable, admins can override privacy settings, usergroup permission text more intuitive and end-user usability increased with modification to threadbit on groups.php.

it is not! (i say whip one up, you'll get to it before i can)

i would suggest editing the viewgroups.php if the issue is still there with 2.0.5

how do you mean?

Merriweather 12-21-2006 05:33 PM

Your update says bug fixes presented from v 2.0.4, but do you have a list of them?

sabret00the 12-21-2006 05:46 PM

There were some warning regarding array arguments etc.

There was also missing text in newreply.php

That's it off the top of my head.

sabret00the 12-21-2006 05:48 PM

i forgot to mention that group leaders can now kick users from their groups.

Cocko 12-21-2006 05:57 PM

i miss information for 2.0.5 in install.txt
how to update from 2.0.4 to 2.0.5

just re-upload files or do upgrade.php or re-import product.xml ?

Merriweather 12-21-2006 06:01 PM

What about the user's group memberships showing in their profile?

Can admins see hidden groups?
