For some reason I have to refresh everytime to see markers. Any suggestions?

Tettinntil 01-19-2010 06:35 PM

Installed this and it worked great.

The forum was then splitted, and all members inherited to the new forum. Now the "new" map shows all member groups from the old forum, i.e. members that were moderators on the old forum are still shown as moderators on the new version of the map. Can anyone tell me why the member's group is not updated?

ATVTorture 02-10-2010 03:56 AM

I can't get this to work on 3.8.4. It will show my own marker but when you "show main map", no markers. What the heck!!! Permissions on markers.xml is set to 777 and when I update my own marker, the time stamp on that file changes. Main map just won't show them.

ATVTorture 02-11-2010 12:47 PM

Does anyone know if there is a way with this mod to make it so a member can submit more than one lcoation?

We would really like to use it as a "riding area" map rather than a member location map. So, for our implementation we would need anybody to be able to submit multiple locations.

If not, does anyone know of a mod that will do what we are looking for?

Thanks!

ATVTorture 02-11-2010 12:48 PM

I found the problem with this to be that we had installed Automatic Media Embedder. With that mod enabled, it will not allow markers to show. With AME disabled, the map works fine in 3.8.4.

I was gonna make this change to my AME. But I am running AME 2.5.6 and my plugin manager doesn't have a "AME : Permission Hide" plugin (global_start)." All I have is "AME - The Automatic Media Embeder". Am I missing something?

Hi, here is my simple fix for getting VBgooglemaps working when AME 2.5.5 is installed.

Go to the Plugin Manager and edit the "AME : Permission Hide" plugin (global_start).

Add in the beginning of the plugin code the following code:
Code:

if (THIS_SCRIPT != 'vbgooglemapme') {
At the end of the plugin code add a closing "}"

that's it

ckgreenman 02-15-2010 02:56 PM

Does anyone know if it's possible to update a user's position in VBGooglemap_ME by passing it parameters directly? I came across an app on my Droid that allows you to send location information to a URL and I thought it would cool to find a way to update VBGooglemap with it.

Yup, you're missing the Plugin Manager and looking in Product Manager.

Product - Main Family of all plugins for a specific Product.
Plugin - the individual building blocks of php code that make up a product.

eh69 02-17-2010 11:23 AM

I used map form 6 months, but today i have error - i dont see any markers on full view.

i have ngnix + fcgi + php5 + xcache

please help

SuncoastF 02-23-2010 08:42 PM

Couldn't find a clear answer, is the users location taken from a profile field or a manual input from a user to the map?

lpetrich 02-26-2010 10:02 AM

It's input manually - it will make a mini-map where you can zoom and pan to get to where you want to make the marker.

ATVTorture 02-27-2010 02:33 AM

OK, found that and made the change. However, the markers still do not show.

What the heck?!?!?!

Has anyone tried vbGoogleMap in vBulletin 4.0?

At first sight, it does not look like much trouble, but it does have to access the database and check members' usergroups.

SEW810 03-03-2010 01:55 PM

Thnx.
Working just fine in vb 3.8.4

It would be nice if members could post more than 1 location :) (markers)

ATVTorture 03-10-2010 03:03 PM

Does anybody know of something like this that allows a user to submit mulitple location. I know there was the hotspot edition, which would be great. But it is no longer downloadable.

Zylantex 03-15-2010 07:14 PM

I have downloaded and installed, with great care I might add, but I see nothing on the AdminCp > vbGooglemap ME > ME Full View.
I just get "No Elements available [ Return to previous page ]".

I get the feeling I have missed something really obvious.
Any clues, hints etc would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Running 3.8.4 PL2

This fixed worked for me.

Any News for the VB4 Version?

yeah fails miserably.

I've been so busy fixing other problems in vb4 that I haven't even messed with this one yet.

If I ever get adventurous I migth try my hand at converting it. But for now I'm stuck.

syrn 03-21-2010 02:34 AM

for vb 4.0.2

tazping2000 03-31-2010 08:46 AM

When I click[List users] one of the usernames appears as "dam&chrys" .... it appears as it should elsewhere on vB as it should "dam&chrys". How do I fix this?

Just a minor niggle though, the plugin in A1... THANKS

lpetrich 03-31-2010 11:02 AM

List users - where?

Seems like overzealous HTMLizing to me - one would have to change some of the plugin code to fix that.

I think this is a problem in more than one place. I have a member on my forum called S&S and he has problems with searches and such. It's not just a problem with this mod as the problem I've seen exists in the vb4 delivered code.

ckgreenman 05-08-2010 02:55 AM

Well good news. I took it upon myself to see if I could get this mod to work on vb4 and I'm happy to report that it's about 85% there. So far I've got the map display working including current user locations, location set, location delete, and online/offline. All the settings also seem to be working (well at least as good as they did in 3.8.4).

Not working:
Enabling the small overview map makes user markers quit working (did this to me on 3.8.4 too), Turning on mouseover makes user markers stop working (did this to me on 3.8.4), Member List shows the right number of entries but all the data is blank, no map link in the Community menu, and no "Find Me" link in the post headers.

I'll keep plugging away at it until I get it all working. I also need to figure out how to do the product installation part of it as well.

MagiKelly 05-08-2010 09:07 PM

Great to hear this being worked on by someone. My members really liked this hack and miss it now we are on VB4

ckgreenman 05-09-2010 10:43 PM

Yeah, My members too which is why I decided to give it a try. I have the list users function working now and the mouseover seems to be working. The small overview map still causes the markers to not show up though. Also I need to work on getting the "find me" link working again.

lpetrich 05-10-2010 02:20 AM

ckgreenman, thanx so much.

Any opinion of the fixes that I'd made? I think that they are worthy of inclusion in some future version of vbGoogleMap. I'll hunt them down here if you want them.

ckgreenman 05-11-2010 01:13 AM

I must have missed your fixes. Shoot me a PM with some details. I can't imagine it would be all that hard to add stuff.

ckgreenman 05-14-2010 12:57 PM

Ok I talked with StonyArc and even though he is working on an OFFICIAL vB4 release he has authorized me release my vB4 version of this mod (3.0.1-vb4 for lack of a better version).

INSTALL:

1. To Install, unpack the contents of the zip file onto your computer.
2. Upload the contents of the "upload" directory AS IS so that the vbgooglemapme.php file
resides in your forum root
3. In AdminCP go to "Manage Products" and click the "Add/Import" link at the bottom.
4. Under "Import Product", click the "Browse" button and specify the "product-vbgooglemapme.xml" file.
5. Click "Import"

To UPGRADE from 3.0.1 (if it's still installed after you upgraded to vB4):
1. In AdminCP, go to the VBGooglemapME Settings and record your googlemap API key,
2. In AdminCP, go to the "Manage Products".
3. Scroll down to VBGooglemapME and uninstall the product. (user markers are not deleted so existing markers)
4. Unpack the zip file.
5. Upload the contents of the "upload" directory. (The only files that changed are vbgooglemapme.php and incluces/functions_vbgooglemapme.php so copying those is sufficient)
6. import the new product file.
7. Go to VBGoogleMapME Settings and put in your googlemap API key (and any other settings).

Note: The permissions will not be correct when you upgrade so you will need to rebuild the bitmask by visiting the Usergroup Manager. The masks should rebuild on their own but make sure your group permissions are as you need them. Also, the "Member Map" link resides on in the Community drop down menu which is visible when you click the "Forum" tab.

NEW FEATURES:
In addition to being ported to vB4 I added a few features that had been suggested on this thread.
You can now select "Terrain" as a default map mode.
Terrain is a selectable mode when viewing the map.
You can now zoom the map using a Mouse Scroll wheel.

If you have any questions regarding THIS VERSION please feel free to contact me here or via PM.

Enjoy!!

UPDATE: Apparently I missed one of the fixes that ZeroHour had posted so I'm uploading a new version that includes this fix.

Enjoy!!

you should release this in a new thread as a new mod untill he releases his version.

ckgreenman 05-15-2010 12:26 PM

Well Since it's not my mod I didn't want to release it as such. Besides StonyArc's version should be out this Summer anyway. I just did this for myself and whoever wants it ahead of time.

kylek 05-15-2010 10:00 PM

New install on 4.0.3 and so far so good except for markers not showing on main map. Checked other addons and the vmood mod https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthrea...ghlight=google is stopping the markers from showing. When its disabled markers show, when enabled none show.

Any ideas whats needed to fix this problem?

Thanks!

Do you have the overlay map enabled? If so try turning it off.

kylek 05-16-2010 08:43 AM

Not using the small overlay map.

ckgreenman 05-16-2010 01:24 PM

Hmm ok. Sounds like most likely there is a javascript conflict or something. I've never used the vMoods mod so I'm not familiar with it. I'll try downloading it to see if there is anything obvious that's causing a problem.

MagiKelly 05-16-2010 04:37 PM

It is worth checking if there are errors in the markers file. This is usually caused by an mistaken entry in the image file.

Check your xml for " or ' or ! characters or other characters that broke it.
It's probably the last entry ;)
Remove it, then save markers.xml
Then visit your actual entry on the map (/vbgooglemapme.php?do=addelement), and click save again, even if you didn't make changes. Visit your main map and its likely fixed again for the short term.

MediaHound 05-21-2010 04:19 AM

(self edit, disregard)

I am waiting for a new release for vB4. I have tried the one from ckgreenman but no markers on the map ;/
