Is there anyone out there that has rewritten the .htaccess file so you can access your profile with www.site.com/username for vB 3.6.x? Just to clarify, I want it in the form www.site.com/username and not www.site.com/forum/username. I do not have my forum located in the root directory and don't want to move it just for this purpose, so it would have to work with my forum in the directory /forum. I've given this a few attempts, but couldn't get it to work, so I'm looking for someone with a little more expertise in this area. Sangsta, if you want to tackle this one, that'd be nice too. I'll send ya some dough.

If so or if not, I'm willing to pay someone $50 via paypal for code that works like this. I don't really want to have to add the absolute path to images in my memberinfo template. PM me if you would like to make some extra beer money with this. I will pay you the second it's working on my site. If you're good and honest, I may have other work in the future that I'd be willing to work with you on as well.

jarekn 03-09-2007 12:47 AM

What was that link for the custom comments for user profile? Is it the one from visionscripts? I am not sure if that one will conflict with any of the things... someone please let me know :)

Please send me info about that comment thing too , its not appearing for me as well.
also , that member pictures section needed Vbadvanced installed and thats the paid one , is there any free alternative for image gallery of members(I searched and found https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=141174 and photoplog) wondering for some suggestions which will be the best one ?

Stangsta 03-09-2007 04:08 PM

People...please if anything, MAKE AN EFFORT TO READ EVEN PART OF THIS THREAD!

Yes, this works with ALL 3.5 and 3.6 versions of vBulletin. If a feature does not work in 3.6.x , then then check with the hack author to see if they released an updated version, chances are THEY HAVE!

No, the comments system does not show up when you install this, IT IS NOT INCLUDED, please PM ME for details.

No, the photo gallery is not included with this install, thats why you cant upload pictures either. Either download a free one from vb.org or pay photopost $99 for the best version (vbGallery).

I think I just covered the last 50 pages.....geez :)

And Shazz....while the help is appreciated, it is not necessary. Would you please mind not acting as technical support for this thread? Thank you kindly sir.

You have to have the forums installed to the root directory for it to function like that.

jr_george 03-13-2007 08:30 PM

I see. I have the files on /forums folder if I move the files when changes to config do I have to make??

Immortal_Shades 03-13-2007 10:01 PM

Anybody figure out how a user can embed swf files into thier profiles?

Also that CSS will not work if you are using a custom skin/template with side borders, it will screw up the whole template look. I would be happy if a user could upload or link their own profile backdrops whch would reflect only their profiles and not ruin the whole template.

jr_george 03-13-2007 11:49 PM

My profile CSS works great check it out

Changing folders may impact one or more hacks as well as potentially affecting the database. Anything you do is at your own risk. I cannot guide you on that.

As I said people who are running side borders which you are not.
I want my profiles to remain in the forum template and not end up like yours.

I attached an image of my forum setup and design.
I honestly want the profiles to be loaded within the side borders.

How did you get the video links on your profiles, what did you add??
I cant seem to get any BBcode tags working in there.

redtaz 03-14-2007 11:11 PM

Can we add this but so only certain usergroups can use it?

Yes, by using an <if> & </else> statement at the beginning of the template.

The video link is just a profile field, the code is already in the template.

For the bbcode, it depends on what fields the parser plugin was set up for. You can only use the bbcode in the fields specified in the plugin.

OK and then how would i go about setting the permissions so only certain usergroups can use it? Sorry I'm a newbie.

Would having PHP5 affect the .htaccess at all? As it doesn't seem to work for me :).

add this before </else> I believe

Quote:

<if condition="($bbuserinfo[usergroupid]==Usergroup || $bbuserinfo[usergroupid]==usergroup)">
and if you want to keep adding usergroups, just keep adding

Quote:

$bbuserinfo[usergroupid]==Usergroup ||
make sure you place the ending tag (</if>) in the proper place!

I'm using this - as recommended in a test skin - and it's buggered up the placement of the skin (users have no choice in skins, so it is not impacting them).
However, I'd be very keen to get some advice on this.

The test skin is suffering some sort of displacement - and the contents of fields are also misplaced into the wrong locations.

I followed the instructions to the best of my abilities, but have become somewhat stuck now.

The reason the contents are misplaced is because you did not recode the template with the new field numbers for the profile fields. Please re-read the directions, it will explain that part.

Not at this time, however I am not opposed to another coder to create it.

Thank you for the answer.
Unfortunately for me, it was an early morning hour when I began working on it (about 3am) and my brain was fuzzy. I figured it out the next day after a good bit of sleep :)

My issue now is the CSS area. I've edited the field id to 16 (css in my setup). Some works, but it won't do images for me or suchlike. I'm by no means an expert in css (or much, really) but I can follow the gist of things to a reasonable level, but thus far, i'm stumped.

ETA:
Once again, a bit of researching works wonders... i'm now learning a little bit about css :)

More than likely there isn't as this is just one big template edit/customization. It's up to the user though to make it XHTML compliant though :)

Any modification on vbulletin.org can possibly have flaws. Even the vbulletin software is vulnerable. There is ALWAYS a risk, and your best defense is a current backup of your site.
