Hey DragonByte, there are some sub-forums on a site of ours which the majority of users cannot access (like a private forum for administrators). However if an administrator @mentions a regular user, the regular user still gets a notification saying "you were mentioned in hidden". Is there any way of keeping people from being alerted to posts in threads they can't access?

im having problems i uploaded the 'upload' folder to httpdocs
then ControlPanel Home > Plugins andProducts > Manage Products > Add/Import Product Choose file > Product-dbtech_usertag.xml But its not working. Have i missed something?? |
Describe not working, what errors are you getting?
|
/var/www/vhosts/dreadsuk.com/httpdocs/dbtech/usertag/includes/class_install.php appears to be missing!
|
It appears as if you have uploaded the files incorrectly. Please drag and drop the contents of the upload folder (use Ctrl+A to select all files) to your httpdocs folder. :)

is it possible the file is actually missing?
|
I verified that that file is in the download, so not sure what is going on.
|
meh  beats me

<font color="Blue">Hello, I would like to know how can I do that when a subject mentions a user, do not leave me Build "@" just the nick of the user exits. I would appreciate your help.</font>

I just tried to install. I copied the "usertag.php" into the admincp folder, copied the "dbtech" folder to the vB root, and copied the contents of the "upload/includes/xml" folder into "/includes/xml". I then tried to add it in the admincp, and it hangs, showing:
Importing Product, Please Wait... [:] I just upgraded to 4.2.2, and did not have this mod previously installed at all. |
I'd like to purchase it, but if I can't get this to work, I don't have much confidence in the paid version. Anyone care to point me in the right direction?

There are two usertag.php One in the admincp directory and one that will share the same parent directory as admincp, dbtech and includes |
I have one in the web root (same level as admincp), and one IN admincp.
|
I also just updated to 4.2.2 and this is not working for me either. I had this in 3.8.2 but for some reason it's not working at all now.
|
i really need this!!! why wont it work :( also 4.2.2
|
4.2.2 work for me
|
I'm seeing a few posts saying "it doesn't work", those of you who want to report problems; Could you please provide more details as to what issues you're running into?
I can't help when all I have to go by is "I'm having a problem." or "This doesn't work for me!" The general install instructions: Drag and drop the contents of the "upload" folder to the folder your forum files reside in :) Fillip |

Have 404 errors everywhere now :( |
You do not need to upload some files manually to locations. Just upload the contents of the "UPLOAD" folder to your "htdocs/forum" destination. It will automatically overwrite the older files and replace them.
On the forum, you have to tag the users with their exact name being case-sensitive. @Abc and then afterwards @Abc should take you to their profile. Check this post for instance, that's my board. LINK |

Just putting the uploads folder to htdocs didn't put the right files in the right places hence it looking like the file was missing when it was actually in the folder, just in the wrong place. Quote:

OK, i fixed it. The issue for anyone else that has a similar problem is that the file usertag.php stayed in the folder 'uploads' when it needed to be moved out of that folder and place in the root folder, same as forum.php
I'll mark as installed now and offer help anywhere i can with anyone else struggling. Still pretty new to vb, but starting to get the hang of it. Massive thanks to all the contributions from everyone and i hope to 'pass it on' :) |
one thing i can't find is admincp/index.php
It doesn't seem to be in the folder anywhere |

What is the name that appears in your browser when you are in the ACP

Yeah, that means the folder is there.

I just installed this to give it a shot and see how it goes. If the members find it useful, I will leave it installed and may go pro. If not ... :D
After doing a quick test on my own, I really don't care if the users like it or not, it's not going anywhere!! I think it's pretty great! |
In my opinion, it's a must for any forum. :D
|
How can users change their notification settings (like opting out of receiving emails when quoted)?
|
I do not believe that options can be changed on a user by user basis, options are changed on a global basis in the admincp. I have email notification turned off on my board.
|
Hi!
I am a forum owner and have been using this mod for about 2 years with no problems. After the last update i seem to run into a database error while attempting to access member profile pages, something that was mentioned here in the discussion. However I was not able to fix this as the solution offered (editing around in phpmyadmin) was not something i felt comfortable doing! Anyway, since the older version worked fine, I was wondering if I could find a link to download that one instead? Thanks! |
On DBTech's site you can download older versions just fine.
|
I've found that I have to use PHP5.2 or else it doesn't work.
