Btw, with Suhosin, do you see the notice regarding Suhosin on instance management? I don't have it available so I don't know if the notice actually shows up or not.

Oh and yes, I do get the Suhosin warning message:

Yeah I fixed the "creator" message :)

Great that you see the notice :D That means if I need to tell my Suhosin users something else in the future / amend that message, I can do so easily :)

Thanks, I see it's fixed and I am able to create chatrooms. I have a question, I want to move the text input field under the actual shoutbox. What file do I need to edit? Thanks.

To put vBShout in a custom location, do the following:


Step 1: AdminCP -> DBTech - vBShout-> Instance Management -> [Edit].

Step 2: Change the Auto-Display Shoutbox setting to Disabled.

Step 3: Write down the the Varname setting. For the default shoutbox, it's instance1. The rest of this guide will assume you replace instance1 with the actual Varname if it is different.

Step 4: Enter the Style Manager and add {vb:raw show.vbshout_instance1} to the navbar template beneath the {vb:raw ad_location.global_below_navbar}

Hi just updated to version 4.2 and it is showing as 4.1 in the archive but 4.2 in the products manager and still unable to place the shoutbox in the cms page using {vb:raw show.vbshout_instance1} but can on any forum page.

GLITCHED. In the AdminCP>Instance Manager> In chat room setting, you used to be able to specify what pages it shows on. It even still says:

Selecting "Disabled" means you need to add a variable to all relevant templates manually.

But there is no box or any options "above" to specify any pages. Or did my install just goof?

I can only get it to appear on my forums.php

Thanks to your diligence in reporting vBShout issues, we've seen it fit to release v5.4.3.

It fixes the following issues:
  • Suhosin users should no longer find the Permissions and BBCode Permissions erased upon saving the Instance Options form.
    Please note that it is still required to submit the 3 forms separately, the top form will simply not erase any previous changes you have made to the bottom ones anymore.
  • The Shoutbox can now once again be placed on the vB CMS on vB4
  • It is now once again possible to determine if you have been flagged Idle if the Shout Order is set to Oldest First
  • If you had more than one instance per page, it was possible for the Shoutbox to be stuck on Loading. This has now been corrected.
  • The Shoutbox will now properly display times for shouts made in a global chatroom
  • Deleting or posting a shout in a chat room will no longer show the contents of the "Shoutbox" tab until the shouts refresh again
  • BBCode parsing for notifications should now once again work as intended
  • The Auto-Idle function should now function correctly

installed on 4.1.2 (install version mod is 5.4.3), works great but I have one problem, when I turn on notifications of new threads, I get this :

(i added spaces because thread bbcode is working here)
so bbcode for thread is not working :(

I checked permissions, bbcode & bbcode hyperlinks enabled for all users

Is there a way to fix this ?

Installed 5.4.3 on 4.1.1 (4.1.3 upgrade planned for this weekend) and have a few issues

1. URL BBCode is not being processed correctly. It just displays with the [URL] bbcode on the shout line, and not converting it into a <a href> as expected.
2. Notifications in ACP is blank like for demo7up above. I'm at a loss on how to enable notifications for the forums for new threads and replies.
3. Posting a shout into a chatroom results in the SB refreshing to the main chatroom and not the chatroom just posted in - however it seems I am still in that chatroom and all shouts are posted there and not the main chatroom. And should someone else post in the chatroom I'm automatically brought back to it.
4. The sounds system constantly issues a sound every refresh - not sure which one of the sounds is issuing yet - am doing some more work on that.
5. On selecting avatars for the detached page (I'm running Pro) the avatars won't display unless I enable the general avatars, and then I only get the size that I have for the normal display - I would like to increase them for the detached display.
6. Is it possible to remove the Active Users Tab when I have the Active Users block enabled? Doesn't make sense to have both...

And a Q - does the auto-delete of posts work across all chatrooms, or just the main one.. Am hoping the latter...

To try to end the confusion regarding hotfixes, I've decided to adopt adding "Patch Level" (PL) on to the end of my zip files.

Thus, I present vBShout v5.4.3 PL1 (Patch Level 1):
  • The Shoutbox should no longer fail to parse BBCode in shouts on vB4
  • Posting / editing / deleting a shout in a chatroom tab will no longer briefly flash back to the main shoutbox tab. My original fix for this caused some additional problems - namely the shoutbox didn't properly refresh when someone posted a shout.
  • A new "Automated Message" mode has been added, which ensures that automatically posted shouts (e.g. "has just replied to thread") will skip permission checks and use vBulletin's built-in BBCode parsing list when posting the shouts. This ensures that actions like the Pro-only "Shoutbox PM on forum PM" works correctly for users awaiting email confirmation.
  • Permissions issues with editing others' shouts have been resolved. This was a regression issue that got introduced when trying to fix the above problem.
To update, simply re-download the files and re-upload them. The XML file has not been changed in this version.

It looks like you accidentally uploaded the main vbshout.php to the admincp folder.

Could you please try directly dragging and dropping the contents of the upload folder into your FTP program? That should work :)

Appears as though you've resolved the notifications parsing issue. The 64 bit version of QuickTime with iTunes is an issue for Apple. Thank you for the quick fix.

Ahh you're using a 64bit browser...

We'd like to move the sounds to HTML5 but the browser usage statistic is too low still, so we really have no options yet :(

Yeah that is it demo, that's the cause. Unfortunately I don't know if anything can be done about that, you will have to contact the author of that plugin and ask for advice.
