I'm getting ready to upgrade to 4.1, anyone using this with it?

mattcaswell 12-11-2010 06:27 PM

I will miss this great mod.. but I fully accept that these mods are done for free and since I never sent any money, all I can be is grateful that I got to use it for several years on my 3.x Forum. now that I'm moving to 4.1.... guess I'll have to look for something else. Maybe if I, and other donated, we'd have a V4.1 already.. so , who's to blame.. really?

Thanks for a great product.. it was fantastic while it lasted!

Hornstar 12-12-2010 06:35 AM

The Geek was a god for VB. IB should do everything in their power to get him back and other coders like him back. This modification and even his PDF that he made was fantastic. VB can not be the same without him.

I am impressed with DJ wanting to take over this and try and get a VB4.1 working version with all the definitions the community wants, however that is going to be a mammoth task.

I was in the process of testing a 4.1 upgrade from 3.8.x and now I feel like a massive hole has appeared because this product was just legendary!

------
With my test install, I used the rebuild feature for my old 2.5 definitions. It converted them fine from ame to URLS but it could not convert them to the new format.

Also posting a youtube url only posted it as a url, it did not embed it.

Do you think this is the definition or maybe being on 4.1? I even just tried this: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost....&postcount=608

Edit: I kept on reading and found this post https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost....&postcount=713 I think that is making everything work properly again.

Edit again: If anyone is having problems than you should install this version https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost....&postcount=713

I am running VB 4.1 and everything is now working perfect with this version including updating my old AME bbcode over to the new BBcode and auto embedding etc.

Now all I need is more definitions. It is nice to have it working again. Thanks to those who have helped out in this thread, much appreciated.

http://www.amazon.de/CnMemory-Spacel.../dp/B003ZDUYM8

brings up a link called $title directing to http://www.dieneuewelt.de/forum/$url?tag=dieneuewelt-21

My Master XML for 2.5 only works with AME 2.5. It's not compatable with AME 3 since all the variables changed.

Digital Jedi ! It's gonna be sweet to see this mod on a xenForo install!

lycheepassion 12-13-2010 06:39 PM

This would be so so awesome, Just upgraded to 4.1 pl2, but it wont work on it now right?

I tried installing this mod, but when it is installed I get this error when trying to create a new thread:

Pretty sure that means some files are in the wrong location.

is there a chance to get an updated version ?
or is there an overview for the changes of variables ?

I did release one here in this thread a while back, but it wasn't tested, and only a few folks got back to me saying it didn't work right. I'm having to go back through each individually. Not all sites supported in the last will work with this newer version of AME because it only has one $param value for video IDs and some sites required two+ to make work.

Pretty much it's this:

Code:

$p1 = {vb:raw:code}
Extraction Regex = Regex Scrape

All the other variables and fields were deprecated.

Uninstalled as it no longer works with vB 4.1

Did you try applying the manual fix for AME 4.0.3 and above?

it doesn't work

big dan 12-18-2010 03:31 PM

Hi All,

I wondering if anyone else has had this issue. I upgraded one of my boards to vB 4 and AME 3 along with it. Pasting a YouTube link into a post isn't converting to video embed like it did with AME 2.5 on vB 3. Is there something I'm missing?

Thanks,
Dan

Edit: Never mind applied the patch the /functions_video.php

Those who don't have it working on 4.1 - Read the first post of the thread, specifically the part that starts: "NOTE ABOUT vB4.0.3"

This mod works perfectly on 4.1.

I've had some trouble getting this to work on some 4.1 installations who had made the edit. Specifically, we could not get new definitions to work, but default definitions seemed to work normally. I still don't know why.

RobbieZ 12-22-2010 04:53 AM

If your talking about the fix, where you edit this template > includes/functions_video.php !

It did actually work but every post you made you get a message, thanks for posting, if you posted a poll you will be automatically brought to it.

Its basically making a call every time and you dont need this especially for QR and slow server loads..

Thats a file edit, not a template edit. And I've had no such issues.

And DJ: I'm only using the default stuff, cause I'll never be able to wrap my head around regex. So out of the box, it works perfectly...

Perhaps the 4.1 re-write solved this mystery for me on my 4.0.6.

Iguana Goddess 12-22-2010 10:43 PM

I had this mod working on my test site, however once I installed on my live site it quit working. My test site was an exact copy of the live site, I recently upgraded to 4.1.0.

This mod works perfectly on 4.1.

After spending whole day, i finally find solution.

Now this mod working for me on 4.1
For example, i'll talk about youtube.

If you want up&run this mode, try doing next:
1. Make sure, what your forum parsing youtube links. For this try make new post by extended editor, and insert link by standard "video link" dialog (pic 1.)
2. If link still not work check two settings. First - make sure, what allow remote retrieval count not equal zero. Go to Admin CP => Options => BB Code Settings (pic 2). Second - make sure, what forum where your try post link have enabled IMG tag. Go to Admin CP => Forum and moderators => Forum manager => Your forum, choose edit=> Enable\Disable Features, and check [IMG] settings (pic 3).
3. Then, if your link start working properly, you may install AME as described. After install, just edit this file - functions_video.php.

Find
Code:

global $vbulletin;
and insert after this
Code:

require_once(DIR . '/includes/ame_prep.php');
$providers = ame_data_preparse($pagetext);

If you wan't edit any file, try this version - https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost....&postcount=713
It's worked for me also.

Yep. You're done!

Nothing new, just placed in one place.. :D

I've problems with changing the old AME-Codes from the older version "[AME] to ones which can be used in AME3. I've changed the [AME] links now to [URL]-Codes but how can I change it back so I can embed the videos ?

Was this done using the Tools option in AME 3 for rebuilding posts?

Hmm, I've got the same issue. I used the Admin control panel to perform the rebuild but all videos have remained URLs.

Ed. Just needed to read a little higher and modify the file. Thanks guys for the fix

Has anyone created a definition for Blip.tv? I tried getting the old definition for 2.x to work but I'm not having any luck.

I'd have to double check, but if the old Blip definition required more than one parameter ($p1, $p2, etc) then it won't work with AME 3, as it only uses one.

whitey99 01-05-2011 02:52 AM

Hi all, does anyone have a definition for official.fm?
TIA

can someone explain to me why this regex doesnt work:

Code:

http:\/\/\www.veevr\.com\/videos\/.*([^a-z0-9]+)
for links like:
Code:

http://www.veevr.com/videos/V7LSZM50
it comes up as a regular link when parsed, but when i manually added the video bbcode:
Code:

[video=veevr;V7LSZM50]http://www.veevr.com/videos/V7LSZM50[/video]
it works great

please help me make this automatic

On newer version of vB 4.x, there seemed to be problems getting new custom definitions to work. I worked with a couple of boards and even recreated YouTube definitions didn't function.

Using the edit in the first post AND vBulletin 4.1... I get the following error on our main forums index page:

It sounds like you may have made an error in your file edit. Or you used an HTML editor that made unwanted changes when you opened the file.

ShackMaster 01-11-2011 03:48 AM

Notepad++

I copied and pasted, but will try again.
