vBArcade v2.0.0 Gold + Lite Released!
After a very intense development period, with much great and appreciated feedback from our beta testers, I am happy to make available vBArcade v2.0.0 gold and lite. Aside from the usual small improvements, I sought out to make the best flash arcade tournament system ever, and those who use it give it rave reviews. My main focus was streamlining the entire process for players, from discovering and joining, to actually playing through the tournaments. The system intelligently handles automatic pairing and replays with AJAX, to sending alerts, to breaking ties. vBArcade tournaments are made to reward fast players by pairing them with each other, and allowing them to continue to advance as far as they qualify. Even if the tournament as a whole hasn't moved beyond the first round, fast players can already be attempting the third, without waiting for the rest. At the same time, the effects of no-shows is mitigated by an enforced time limit that auto-forfeits such players, while maintaining the integrity of the brackets. All told, tournaments become fun, fast-paced and interactive, just like the rest of the vBArcade game playing experience. v2.0.0 Gold Changelist: Fixed global score loading Mochi localhost/ssl scoring support improvements Segregated configuration settings screen Forum block shows data type used as title if title left unchanged Local scoring indicators during import and manage games Consistent guest label used with champion guests Fixed choppy arcade portal AJAX search tab Consistent table spacing and superfluous links cleaned up Many minor wording, layout, optimization tweaks and bugfixes Tournaments Any local scoring game, with unique titles and descriptions Shown as a detailed horizontal tree, while playing the game Auto-prune tournaments that don't reach minimum players Convert related settings from other arcades Dedicated tournaments page with stats and personal standings Game specific tournaments shown on tab, while playing game Latest tournament shown on arcade portal Invite/Reminder Email/PM alerts, with notifications Matches Each tournament sets number of play attempts per match Active match highlighted, with clear status messages Playing all attempts optional, can be manually forfeit/completed Enforced time limit per match, or automatically forfeit/completed Notifications throughout, or optional reminder Email/PM alert Remaining attempts shown with live countdown for time limit Select between best, latest, or average attempt as match score Optionally hide scores until match is completed Match ties broken by first player who reached that score Friendly Challenges Familiar multi-round format Players pair up, winner of each match advances Winner of the final round declared champion Begins immediately on final required player joining Automatic 1 round tournament of 2 players, with preset config Initiated from simple username prompt, while playing a game Can disable certain games from eligibility Auto-pruned if either player declines invitation (there is an expanded pro list of features in the first post) |
The tournament system is definitely a cut above anything else I've seen on any bulletin board arcade system. Well done, good job :)
