I might be overlooking it, but i dont see it.

The reputation message attaches itself to the private_messages_nav phrase. I would guess that the modification you are using to alter your Private Messages Display (to create the dropdown list) is breaking it.

Great hack, is there any way to influence the placement of the "new posts" line?

I'd prefer to have it after the PM line in the welcome box.

Got it, by changing the "New Posts and Reputation (1)" plugin.
