yep np on that, i just thought i had to mention that as i use this article system some months now and i m very thankfull for this:)

Do u know john any way, to uninstall the system? beside revert everything, if there is something to erase the tables and all that...

Thanks, keep up:)

Sorry if this has been covered before, I've had a quick look on the forums but cant find the answer, so...

I'm running vb 3.0.5, with CMPS, vbChat and VbArticles.

Following a recent install of "Articles", everything seems to work fine with one exception I discovered this morning: If I go into AdminCP and click on "Forum Manager" or "Add New Forum", I just get a blank page, with the rest of the admin panel still in place.

It only does it with these two options, everything else under the "Forums and Moderators" dropdown works fine, as do all the other options in AdminCP.

Have I missed editing a file somewhere? Or does my configuration with the other hacks screw it up somehow?

valentine 01-17-2005 09:25 AM

Well I've now read through this entire thread and found nothing related to this problem - if anyone can shed any light on why this might have happened I'd appreciate it. I've checked and double checked the installation process ,as far as I know the file that this uses - admincp/forum.php - isn't amended by vBArticles, but if its used in some way that is causing the problem I'd be glad of someone telling me. Otherwise I'll uninstall it.

Thanks.

Val

valentine 01-17-2005 06:49 PM

Does anyone ever respond to simple, polite requests for help in here? :ermm:

Yes.

Has it occured to you that people may not know the answer to your question.

valentine 01-17-2005 08:31 PM

Of course! How silly of me to assume that someone who'd written a hack might be able to answer a simple question as to whether it utilised a particular file or not...

paulz 01-23-2005 07:02 AM

i'm prolly just too tired to find this, but where in the article.php is the code to ORDER BY that i can change to order the article listings by title instead of the order they were posted in? Thanks in advance!

DjTaz 01-26-2005 07:41 PM

I have a small problem with the attachments , i click Manage Attachmnt , and i get the popup box , i select the file , put in the caption , click on upload (yes the right file format .. just a .jpg ... and its only tiny in size ) and as soon as i click upload i get a white blank screen on the upload box ... have i missed something or could this be from a different hack clashing with it ??

Thanks For the hack John - its very good even if i dont figure out the Thumbnails

Yelper 01-30-2005 03:32 PM

Heh. I've got an installation problem. I lost my internet connectivity while running the installation file (admincp/install.php). Now, when I try to install, the first step yields an error (as expected) that says the table has already been added. Is there any way to skip to the step I want or to correct this problem?

Code:

GoTTi 01-30-2005 06:31 PM

how do i make this show the location in the online.php?

instead of saying:

Unknown Location
/forums/article.php?a=XXX

i want it to say

Viewing Articles "description of article"

and the link will take the user to the article the person is viewing...

dimopoulos 01-31-2005 01:51 AM

Thanks for this great modification. I have a small problem though with the thumbnails - they just don't show up. I checked my settings on my server and GD is installed and working (it works when users upload attachments in the main forum) but not in the article section.

Any suggestions pointers are more than welcome!

Been answered a ton of times in this thread, but I don't blame you for not wanting to search through the many pages.. :)

You either haven't deleted them properly, or haven't refreshed the ACP page.

jluerken 02-03-2005 09:32 AM

I am searching for a way to create a forum thread in a predefined forum when a new article was posted.

I have members writing columns but now one reads it cause no one gets aware of the fact that there is a new one in the article system :D

Does someone of you has a hack for that?

Hi all,

v3 articles is working pretty well for me, thanks!

I have one problem and I cannot figure it out. I did a little page in dreamweaver, and tried to add the article by pasting in the html. I then when into the database and changed the post field by pasting in the html.

http://www.zclub.net/forum/article.php?a=18

As you can see its really stretched, I cannot figure out why though. Can anyone help please?

Many thanks

Darkwolf 02-03-2005 01:09 PM

I am having some problem .. I'm unable to set the permission for my members to view the comment the rest are fine.. do you what's wrong?

I too had the same problem, it's caused by the whitespace between the different table tags.

Now it will probably look like this:
<table>
<tr>
<td>Content
</td>
</tr>
</table>

Change so that it's like this:
<table><tr><td>Content</td></tr></table>

Bloodlust 02-04-2005 03:54 AM

Installation was easy. Thanks!

I had one question tho. Im trying to add an article that contains html.. I enabled html for it but it shows up very very messed up and sometimes even includes smilies. Any way to correct this?

flaregun 02-04-2005 04:57 AM

I'm still having trouble with no links showing up under "Article Categories". Any ideas on where to look to fix this? Everything else works fine.

Yep works fine here...

jluerken 02-06-2005 09:45 PM

How can I make an uninstall and keep sure that all Article Templates and phrases are deleted and that all table changes are undone?

I want to completly uninstall this hack from a running system.

Can someone please help me with a good and easy description how to do so?

Bloodlust 02-09-2005 08:32 PM

Any news about enabling HTML?

ivanmcp 02-09-2005 09:13 PM

Works great!

jluerken 02-11-2005 07:24 AM

Running the uninstaller brings up this:
Quote:

The database changes made to this vBulletin installation have been undone.

However, tables containing content and category information still remain. For security reasons, these tables must be deleted manually.
My question is now which tables must be deleted and what about the templates and phrases?

WHAT exactly do I have to uninstall manually?

Paul M 02-11-2005 08:01 AM

Pretty much anything that starts with "article".

ThePapabear 02-13-2005 06:01 PM

Hello!

First: Installed and works fine on 3.0.6! Thanks for that! *clicked install

I got a question, someone had on page 6 of this thread (no, didn´t read all 61 Pages, but most... :cross-eyed: ):

how can i change the way, the articles are ordered? I´d like them to be ordered alphabetically, not newest first...

Could´nt find an answer for that. Thanks a lot!

greets
ThePapabear

Hi. Everything seems to work fine with the install. Thanks for a great hack!

My only problem...

I don't see the area on the left-hand side of the AdminCP where I can manage my articles (specifically the categories, etc.). I have the option in my 'General VBulletin' options, but not along the left-hand side of the AdminCP.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Solved...sorry

Thanks for the quick & easy hack. I'm having a problem displaying thumbnails. I set GD as 2.0+ in the settings, as showin phpinfo, but thumbnails won't come up. Any ideas, please?

greenhybrid 02-18-2005 12:57 AM

Also, is there a way to make article.php (the article section) use a different style that the main forums? Thanks in advance.

It uses all it's own templates, so you can change them as you want.
