Just thought i'd mention while i'm here, my long serving problem has gone, I upgraded to RC3 and reinstalled the arcade, and the problem is simply not there now, it is now working perfectly, so now I eat humble pie and admit I must of been repeatedly doing something wrong each time I installed, or I obviously had an error in my actual forum code somewhere which I'd not noticed, I don't suppose i'll ever find out for sure what caused it though.

Anyway now it's working i'll be looking out for .fla files for good games, and will either have a go myself to make them compatible or will pass them on (my flash knowledge is minimal so that side of things is all new to me)

A heads up for everyone wondering what the current status is on a new feature update, there's going to be a release shortly after vb3 goes gold.

How much work does it take to upgrade, would I have to reinstall all my hacks? =)

I still need help. The SWF and all the files are in place. Also if i run the SWF manualy i can play...but from vB ARCADE...the game don't want to load.

Question: I deleted some of the high scores from users with no posts in my Arcade. But what happens is that it says that it is deleting the score itself (and of course the user who got it). But it only deletes the users name. The second place person becomes champion and shows the new score to beat.

BUT.... when I am in the game, it still tells me that I have to beat the original high score (the person with no posts) still. So, there's a bug. :D

Once the hourly cron runs, the champion will update.

Try reinstalling arcade from scratch, it seems the tables didnt get modified correctly as 'arcadepermissions' isn't a field in the table

I do have an idea on a postbit edit:

Instead of all the icons on the post bit and their scores. Perhaps a 2 common arcade images with ?click down menus? (like the NAV or user name link):

EX:

Champ image shows up when your the champ of a game. Click the image and get a drop down showing:

Arcade Stats image shows up when you play any game. Click the image and get a drop down showing:

I just added a new usergroup without any problems on my test forum...

I did check it about 10 times but got the same result, so I created another test board (fresh install), problem solved. :)

Wow, I just read this whole thing. My plan is to install it soon and then come back here immediately and complain about something ;) j/k

Now, to the reason I'm posting:
Someone made a suggestion about "pay to play"; but they were thinking arcade style .50 per play, etc. While that would probably rack up the cash, it really wouldn't give too many reason to play these old school games when they're available for free elsewhere, despite them possibly being loyal. My suggestion: they might be willing to pay a subscription fee much easier. Since John said he'll be incorporating usergroup permissions into the games, you can use that along with vb3's integrated subscription system to give users access to games for certain periods of time. Makes it simple for them (probably cheaper too), but you'll most likely get a better response as well. Just my 2c.

Can someone start a separate thread and just write descriptions for these games for people who aren't familiar with them?

I saw both John and futureal mention something about BBS games (futureal said he would try to incorporate them in a java-based way), but you both seem to be familiar with them - can either of you PM me a site or two that might have these? I'm a huge fan of some of those back in the day and am looking for a few that I've lost along the way.

One other thing - do these games all come with playing instructions?

Right: I had a query about my addon for Erwin's Flash Player working for this hack and the short answer is Yes it will work.

The longer answer is that it is not currently integrated in any way into your database of games - so this will not (currently) populate from your list of activated games (as I understand this hack to have this functionality), ut it will populate automatically a list of games that are in your forumroot/games folder.

It could easily be updated to integrate into this hack: if it's wanted or needed, please post in my Addon thread and I'll get onto it ... what I would probably do is add a AdminCP Settings page, to allow you to specify whether you are using Erwin's hack or v3 Arcade (which would then determine which auto-populate function to use), and to specify the full path to you games directory in there ...

I just installed this earlier tonight. I just wanted to post and say that it's really great! Thanks a billion for making this, John! I am really impressed. :) :) :)

Changing hosts (again) at the moment, so my email might flicker on and off.

I searched the thread, but could not find a post on this problem. After I deleted a user who had high scores on my forum, it showed him as a champ but with no username. Also, it lists the user in the top ten with no username, just a score. I even removed invalid scores in the admincp and waitied for the cron job to fix it. It's been like that for a couple days.

Mars Rover ... Excellent addition to the Arcade .. but I have a problem with it .. It works perfectly other than it doesn't record the scores at the end of the game .. I have installed as per the instructions ( although they are for Penguin Bashing ) .. have I slipped up somewhere please ?? .. much obliged for any assistance :cool:
