We are getting an xhtml error on vbindex when we add custom boxes.

Quote:

Below are the results of attempting to parse this document with an SGML parser.

1. Line 501, column 57: document type does not allow element "tbody" here (explain...).

<tbody id="collapseobj_vbindex_customblock2" style="">
Removing the tbody tags cleans it up, but you lose the little arrow to collapse the boxes.

Could you have a look at that please?

Thanks

NTLDR 03-03-2004 12:34 PM

The fix is posted in the bugs forum at Core Forums and a few pages back in this thread.

refertech 03-03-2004 06:11 PM

If this fix is on Core Forum I cant seem to find it.

Zantheus 03-04-2004 08:32 PM

Ok, I will ask something hopefully someone can get me started on. I am currently in the process of creating a webpage for my World of Warcraft Guild. I am going to use this software to create it. But I really want something that stands out. I was wondering if anyone knew how to do anything like http://www.wc3campaigns.com/ . Im new to vBulletin and am not exactly an expert. Your help would be much appreciated.

NTLDR 03-04-2004 10:02 PM

You just edit the vBindex templates in the Style Manager. Everyone wants something different, but as long as you can create your own graphics and generate HTML (or know someone who can) changing the look is very easy.

Zantheus 03-04-2004 11:04 PM

Even with this program? I mean, I want everything they have (I can do my own images) Im just talking about the borders, and such.

NTLDR 03-05-2004 08:57 AM

Yes, you just need to edit the templates.

Eternal2u 03-05-2004 11:00 AM

is it possible to edit this to include more than one forum as a forum to post news on certain parts of my site?

NTLDR 03-05-2004 11:36 AM

Just enter multiple forumids seperated by commas (eg 1,2,3).

Sorry, I am such a newbie when it comes to using the beta 3.0.0 but, which parts of the template should I edit. Also, I installed vbindex, but when I visit my site all it has is my forums, (I have to click mydomain.com/vbindex.php) before I can even see it. Can you help me out with this?

rachid 03-05-2004 02:18 PM

I have problem when I want to install the vBindex. When I run vbiupgrade.php get I this error:

Warning: file_get_contents(../includes/config.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /usr/local/psa/home/vhosts/achellal.nl/httpdocs/forum/install/vbiupgradecore.php on line 39

Warning: main(./includes/adminfunctions.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /usr/local/psa/home/vhosts/achellal.nl/httpdocs/forum/install/vbiupgradecore.php on line 51

NTLDR 03-05-2004 02:21 PM

You don't seem to have a config.php file in your includes directory.

rachid 03-05-2004 02:31 PM

Now I have another error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: log_admin_action() in /usr/local/psa/home/vhosts/achellal.nl/httpdocs/forum/install/vbiupgradecore.php on line 55

Zantheus 03-05-2004 02:45 PM

What about my question? Any help would be great...

The VBINDEX and vbindex_name templates.

You either need to rename index.php to something else and change the value in the vBulletin options or alter your server config to make vbindex.php one of the default documents before index.php.

rachid 03-05-2004 03:07 PM

Can somebody help me with the error

rachid 03-07-2004 02:10 PM

Is it possible to get the newsscrip on another page than vbindex.php

refertech 03-07-2004 02:32 PM

The avatar for the poster in the new section shows up in the message area, rather than in the users post bit bar. Is there a way of correcting this? If this has been ask, just say so and ill continue looking thru the treads for the answer.

Thanks,

Mark

This is by design, however you can edit the vbindex_newsbit template and move the avatar somewhere else.

refertech 03-07-2004 08:34 PM

Thanks NTLDR, I got it adjusted where i like it. :)

I followed the instructions perfectly. I love installing things. Wee. Great.

Ok so... I first installed this on a test forum.
It appeared to have installed fine. But when I go to the vbindex, it says there was a slight problem with db... not sure why. So, in short- the hack failed. I can access the controls for the vbindex, save my changes, all that. But nothing's going on.

Then I set it up on the real forum. This time I was very careful and made very sure I followed every step exactly and slowly. Everything was fine until I got to where you edit the image paths. I would edit them, click Save and the page would just reload very quickly and my changes would be gone. This kept happening. I couldn't go any further. So I pointed my browser to upgraded and maybe that didn't help the situation or hurt it, but I gave it a shot.. it showed me that it was finishing but it didn't forward me to the admin section or anything. The page went dead just like the other. And my controls for it look like the attachment below. Scary, isn't it? And when I click save I get that it can't find vbindex_settings_saved.

So my test or the real thing just didn't work out.

What the .. ?
Is this because my database is wacky because my vB is a convert of an Invision Board?

Why me!

NTLDR 03-09-2004 10:37 PM

Your phrases haven't imported correctly, re run vbiupgraded.php?step=10 to have the installer try and import them again.

Note the 'edit image paths' screen appears for every single style you have, so your changes probably were not lost.

Milktruck 03-09-2004 10:40 PM

My god. Can I give you a gift, a cake, something?@? *mwah*

But the changes don't appear on the site. And vbindex.php is a blank white page.

Sorry if this is explained somewhere else.. I have been battling with my brain and I'm growing weak.

NTLDR 03-09-2004 10:43 PM

I guess the templates didn't import either for some reason. Goto vbiupgraded.php?step=7 and continue to Step 9 where it rebuilds the styles :)

I still love you but,

mysql error: Duplicate entry 'imgdir_attach-1' for key 2

And then when I visit here,
http://surmunity.com/vbindex.php
I get that. :(

NTLDR 03-09-2004 10:56 PM

Just move onto vbiupgraded.php?step=9 for it to rebuild the styles, hopefully then the main page will show.

Thank you for all of your help so far. I'm glowing in the fact this might just work. It was a long struggle to get our Invision 1.2 into a vB3! And now I am trying to install all of the things that we need, and it just seems to be because of the template crud in the tables left over from Invision.

NTLDR 03-09-2004 11:03 PM

It appears for me using the Default vB3 Style (Surpass Hosting Community vBulletin 3 Style). If you get a white page see if any of the vbindex_ templates are listed under your style in the style manager.

I don't see what you mean.
I still get this DB error. http://www.surmunity.com/vbindex.php

I have deleted the styles that aren't used and now only have 2 and both have been edited correctly... I think. :o

Milktruck 03-09-2004 11:22 PM

I have now renamed vbindex.php to index so now the site is an error. http://surmunity.com/
Trying to do anything I can to get it to work...

All works now! I edited every single template I could.

Milktruck 03-10-2004 12:54 AM

Ok... it's not so good... :(

I keep getting either errors with the NEWS or LATEST THREADS.

vbindex will work, then it won't work, work, and then it won't.

This is an example of the current error it gives me.
In about 30 minutes it will be giving me a NEWS error.

I get the following error when I change the navbar template:

Parse error: parse error, expecting `T_STRING' or `T_VARIABLE' or `T_NUM_STRING' in /homepages/13/d95147753/htdocs/forums/includes/functions.php(2046) : eval()'d code on line 136

What do I do?

Do you have anyone in your ignore list, or the global ignore list in vBulletin?

You've either edited a condition wrong or have a variable like $var['key'] outside a condition where it should be $var[key]

gmarik 03-13-2004 06:08 AM

NTLDR, could you add a custom user editable box, so it would be something like a signature, every user could enter whatever he wants (without HTML or with?) and it would show up in the predefined place? For exampe some counters or links, or telephones, whatever - what do you think? A custom user filled block, maybe even (in the future) an address DB, because, for example, I've made a SMS sending system over the world and would love to have not only my Buddy names inserted in the TO: field, but other people names as well, not they're phone numbers.

97cobracpe 03-13-2004 03:28 PM

Installed and working like a charm :)

SilverDawn 03-13-2004 04:16 PM

I have always used vbindex and I will continue to use it. Another great job NTLDR.

*Install.*

You can create user profile fields for members to enter there own content into a custom box and use $bbuserinfo[fieldX] (X being the number of the field) to display the contents.

The next version of vBindex will allow you to have dynamic custom boxes by inserting the PHP code into templates.
