?

What credits?

all i have done is followed the instructions.....

Littlebit 01-10-2003 12:21 PM

Marky
there should be something like:
Quote:

[vbProArcade v1.0 Beta 2 by futureal for Shadows of Namek]
at the bottom in a cell in that table that looks messed up on your end.
Maybe you changed alignment and somehow deleted part of a cell or something?
I add again the code for the vbproarcade_arcade
template from the install instructions.

marky22 01-10-2003 01:05 PM

still the same, and i have checked the code of the file and their is no reference to any credits....

Littlebit 01-10-2003 01:30 PM

its this part:
$vpaversion
(that variable inserts them.
...around line 34 in the proarcade.php is where it shows what I meant)

marky22 01-10-2003 01:40 PM

well i can't figure it out, that line is where it should be, i have used codelifer on http://www.mobilemods.net/forum2/proarcade.php

and the credits are also in the right place there..

oh well life goes on.

GoTTi 01-10-2003 05:46 PM

I got a error going on here...

Database error in vBulletin 2.2.6:

Some1 help me out here.

Christy 01-10-2003 06:52 PM

Very nice, got it all working great! No errors, just smoothness :)

lynerd 01-10-2003 07:17 PM

i set up all the files and all the templates, and i put the games in the games folder in my forum root directory. And I still hahve the folder set in the control panel as games.

Everything works fine, untill i go to play a game, and it wont load, but if i load the game by typing in it's address it loads. (ex www.whatever.com/forum/games/breakout.swf)

any ideas?

NTLDR 01-10-2003 08:48 PM

You need to set the path correctly, ie /forum/games/ or just games/ may work too.

Brahm 01-10-2003 10:10 PM

Looks Great! Thanks for the hack. The install went smooth with no problems.

Limpkinw 01-11-2003 01:22 AM

I installed this hack today as an upgrade from 1.03 and i have 2 problems.

Problem #1) All posts are my board are duplicated. not just posts from today but ALL posts.

Problem #2) A data mismatch has been discovered between the game and the arcade, normally as the result of a cheating attempt. This attempt has been logged, and the score invalidated. If you feel that you are receiving this message in error, please contact the system administrator

When games are complete. The ONLY thing I did was uninstall previous version and install this.

HELP!

Savant 01-11-2003 03:06 AM

Man, that is weird. The game is returning the wrong hash, completely. I can't think of a reason why that be.

I have to jet out of here right now. I will try and figure it out and get back to you.

Good luck.

edit: Upon further inspection, the hash that is going to the game does not match the one that is being pulled back from the database. I can think of no reason why this would occur, and it's the first time that I've seen it. If anybody else sees this same sort of behavior, it might be back to the proverbial drawing board for this hack. heh

welp, as a temporary bandaid, in proarcade.php, i changed this:

// now, we check gamehash
if ($newhash == $hashcheck) {

to this:

// now, we check gamehash
if ($newhash == $newhash) {

and that'l at least get the games working for now. The good news is the records scores and everything else seems to be in order :) thanks again futureal!

I am having some strange problems... well, just one...

The games dont appear to load, at all... the page starts to load, and then the full page is there, with the flash applet there, but it just stays one colour, the background colour of the flash movie (i assume) but it loads no further.

Any ideas?

xxxsaint 01-11-2003 02:20 PM

yes , where it says the location of your games is /games/

make it say games/

in the arcade admin section

Littlebit 01-11-2003 03:32 PM

anyone know how to fix the 404 error on redirect ...seems to do this in every browser but IE for windows platform only

Attrox 01-11-2003 06:58 PM

Good lord, this is the nicest, smoothest hack I have ever installed...amazing work on this, futureal. I'll make a donation to your PayPal account as soon as I get home. :)

I get this error:

I have another member who get's this error:

It seems your date and times are showing up, unless you drag your mouse over them. Might want to check what color your date and times are set in the Admin CP.

drumsy 01-12-2003 01:21 AM

I also have problems with the user detail page for my members.

You are the best. Thank you very much for doing this. :)

BrAinZ 01-13-2003 06:00 PM

Excellent Hack - Thanks futureal!!

One question.. until the score group section is fully working, what's the easiest way to reset the high scores?

Martin64 01-13-2003 06:36 PM

Upgraded, lost 2000+ scores, and now I'm holding a little contest to encourage people to play. Like 50% of the people in my who's online are viewing the arcade. Seems to work. 1.8M Tetris score already.

Thanks for this nice hack. :)

Hmmm, now it's working, odd....:confused:

Martin64 01-13-2003 10:32 PM

I'm just wondering, does it sound like this user cheated:

"Tetris Statistics
Times Played: 1
Time Spent Playing: 92 Minutes, 2 Seconds
Average Game Duration: 0 Minutes, 5 Seconds
Most Recent Game: January 13th, 2003 at 4:49 pm
Highest Score: 1,820,828
Lowest Score: 1,820,828
Average Score: 1,820,828
Unique Comments: 1
Random Comment: That took me all afternoon (at work! hehe)"

If he has played only once, how can the average game duration be 5 seconds? Also, the total time spent playing is 92 minutes.

*confused*

unfortunatly not my friend, im a flash designer....what u have right there, is useless to you in trying to design your own game, every game is unique and therefore the actionscript is unique also.......the only part that is of relevance is:

PHP Code:

vpaver "100B";
snakescore score;
action "gameover";
game gamename;
score_loc location "/proarcade.php";
getURL(score_loc"_self""POST");

cuz thats what goes into our DB.......i would be able to configure most of these games if i could figure out that dang "score" bit......

Peace

Christy 01-14-2003 06:20 AM

A casino type game would be fun, if you did a top scorer by who had the most money :)

I'll just pull the variables from my postbit templates for now, but it would be cool if there was a way of fixing this. :)

Anyone have any idea how to fix this while still being able to use the crown and text in the postbit?

Maybe not... For some reason the Average Game Duration part isn't working for Tetris on my site either. :ermm:
They did make that score pretty quickly though. It took me 140 minutes to score 1.5 million (and I messed up w/ 60 lines left, so I could have gone longer).

Martin64 01-14-2003 01:38 PM

Thanks PlurPlanet :)

Check the html in the "vbproarcade_arcade_userscore_notking" template.

It should look like this:
Code:

<normalfont>$userscore</normalfont>
        <br>
        <smallfont>(<font color={timecolor}>$userposition out of $totalusers users</font>)</smallfont>

x8oz 01-16-2003 12:43 AM

thankyou, that fixed the problem =)

:Judge: 01-16-2003 12:43 AM

OK well this is making members very happy people, thanks for this great piece. Is there or will there be more games to add?

futureal 01-16-2003 07:03 AM

Hi all,

I have returned to Madison after my west-coast swing (San Diego, LA, Vegas) and I can see that there are definitely some bug/issues to address with the hack.

I will begin working on isolating and fixing some of these over the weekend.

Note that, to my knowledge, the games only work in IE, because of the score redirect problem noted before. Netscape (and Opera, apparently) do not handle POST data correctly. The only solution is to pass the variables via GET, which opens up things to big time cheating.

I may have to go back to the drawing board on security. I was trying to think up a good way to add true encryption to the scores (e.g. PGP) but I am not sure I can pull it off with ActionScript. I will continue the search.

xxxsaint 01-16-2003 11:25 AM

welcome back.. :D

I'm still wondering if this is fixable , but I haven't heard from anyone about it... at least being worked on or why exactly it does this or anything relevant to the error...any response would be cool
thanks
-littlebit

futureal 01-16-2003 07:12 PM

Littlebit: Did you read the message I posted a couple of responses back? I addressed that very issue. :)

Littlebit 01-16-2003 10:20 PM

Futureal,
oops sorry about that...I guess I skimmed right over it. :surprised:
thanks for looking into trying to fix it. :)
Oh, don't forget to add all the Mac browsers to the list of not working without error too (Internet Explorer and Netscape for OS9 and OSX+)
