I've installed the lite version (to trial) and despite being an administrator and ensuring the admin usergroup has is a vbshout moderator (or similar) set to yes - I can't see the box while it's disabled :/

I'm pretty sure that wasn't a pro-only feature? Is something wrong here?

DragonByte Tech 04-10-2011 06:53 PM

Disabling the instance will still hide it.

However, the Active switch in vBulletin Options is what you will still see even if you have the Is Shoutbox Manager permission :)

WorldCraft 04-10-2011 07:00 PM

Thanks for the swift reply and yeah, even with the instance enabled - I can't see the box when I disable it through the options beneath which it says "Shoutbox Managers will still be able to access the shoutbox."

Should I try reimporting the product?

DragonByte Tech 04-10-2011 07:11 PM

Are you sure you gave yourself the "Is Shoutbox Manager" usergroup permission via the Usergroup Management screen?

Fillip

WorldCraft 04-10-2011 07:16 PM

100% Sure - I've worked around it by setting every usergroup except admins to (unable to view the instance) while the system itself is active/on.

EDIT: Wow... Another problem (or is this intentional?) When I click 'bold' in the shoutbox all my previous messages go bold, not just the one I'm typing.

Or is this an option somewhere?

I can duplicate this issue.

Any change to font name, bold, italics, underline, color updates all of my posts not just the current one.

DragonByte Tech 04-11-2011 02:51 AM

That is working as intended :)

All previous shouts are supposed to change :)

I installed this mod on the board, but only 2 people are able to use it...Me in a superadmin account I created when I installed VB, and another admin. I am the co-owner of the board and have all my permissions set to yes. When I log into my normal account, the box isn't there. Is there a separate place where I'm supposed to set permissions for these? I don't see them on usergroup permissions. And I'm pretty sure that I installed it from my regular account and then it said I lacked the proper permissions even with everything turned on
www.contentgaming.com/forums

DragonByte Tech 04-13-2011 11:22 PM

Did you check the Instance Management permissions as well?

Fillip

cG Broly 04-13-2011 11:25 PM

I'm not sure if I did...jog my memory, Where would I go to check that?

DragonByte Tech 04-13-2011 11:31 PM

Instance Management, in the AdminCP :)

It's in the DBTech - vBShout nav group.

Fillip

cG Broly 04-13-2011 11:34 PM

yeah...that's probably it...it's not on the admin cp under my normal account. When I logged into super admin it was there. I have no defined shoutbox instances... Let me set one up I guess.. Any certain ways I'm supposed to set it up?

And does this require that I modify the actual template files?

EDIT: ok...something is seriously wrong...When I try to create an instance, no matter what I type in, it either throws me a fatal error, or it says The instance (name here) already exists. And there's clearly no defined instances....so what do I do? delete the product and start over?

DragonByte Tech 04-13-2011 11:51 PM

Go into the Administrator Permissions editing interface in vBulletin and grant your "normal account" the Can Administer vBShout permission :)

Fillip

cG Broly 04-13-2011 11:55 PM

Well..that helped me find out why I couldn't manage my vbcredits from my normal account. Thanks...lol but oddly enough, can administer vbshout wasn't there...maybe it didn't install right? Thinking back, I can't remember if I set the folder permissions to 777 from my firezilla...may need to look at that when I get a chance. Thanks for the help so far! anything else you can reccomend?

DragonByte Tech 04-14-2011 12:03 AM

If it's not there then it's possible it may not have installed right. A reinstall might be helpful.

Fillip

cG Broly 04-14-2011 12:05 AM

Sounds like a plan. Thanks for the help, I'll start it over when I get a chance. By the way, this has nothing to do with VB version 4.1.3 right? no known bugs?

DragonByte Tech 04-14-2011 12:11 AM

We're running it on 4.1.3 no problem :)

Fillip

cG Broly 04-14-2011 12:57 AM

I reinstalled it as super admin. That did the trick...I gave myself the administrative rights and now it seems to be working perfectly.. Thanks!

DragonByte Tech 04-23-2011 12:53 AM

A conflict with DBTech's InfoPanels and vBShout v5.4.0 has been resolved, and the "vBShout v5.4.0 Upgrade Notes.txt" document has been updated along with the files.

For those of you who have already downloaded v5.4.0; Please re-download the zip file, re-upload the files, and re-read that .txt file.

The template variable used to display the shoutbox in a custom location has been updated to resolve the conflict.

If you're running vBOptimize, flush the cache. I had the same issue and when I did that, it worked fine.

DragonByte Tech 04-23-2011 11:54 PM

Due to an exploit discovered by one of DBTech's members we would like to announce the immediate availability of vBShout v5.4.2:
  • It is no longer possible to break the display of vBShout by using %message% or any other % % template variable in user names.
  • The CMS tab will once again light up as intended when browsing the vBCMS page
  • Editing a shout will now correctly display the old shout in the Command Log

In addition, the following fixes were previously applied to v5.4.1 after its release, and are included in this version:
  • The "Max Characters Per Shout" setting is now properly ignored when your Usergroup is a Shoutbox Manager
  • You can now properly delete shouts that, for whatever reason, have an instance id set to 0 and show up in your name
  • The Shoutbox should no longer interfere with other mods adding themselves to the navbar in vB3

Finally, we have received word from one of our Suhosin users that the workaround did not fully comply with Suhosin's restrictions.

Sadly there's nothing further we can do. Due to the sheer number of features included in vBShout, allowing you to configure them all causes Suhosin to believe that vBShout is a malicious script.

That being siad, we have included a notice for Suhosin users that, if followed, should allow the Instance Management to work as intended. Feedback on whether the tips in the notice worked would be welcome.

Please tell me how I can add silence/ban/unban to the context menu.

DragonByte Tech 04-24-2011 12:35 AM

Silence is a Pro-only feature, to add ban / unban you need to grant usergroups that permission via the Instance Management :)

Fillip

I did. I can ban by entering /ban {username here}, but it doesnt show up when i click on their username (context menu)

Blueracer66 04-24-2011 01:28 AM

After editing the plugins Main Settings and saving them the Instance Permissions reset and all permissions become unchecked. Bug?

DragonByte Tech 04-24-2011 01:31 AM

If you run Suhosin then they are separate forms and as such there's no bug.

It's not something I've been able to replicate without Suhosin installed.

Unfortunately that's not something I've been able to confirm on any of my test environments :(

Yes, I have Suhosin installed on my server. Anyway, thank you for this awesome script, Fillip! By the way, I can't create new chartrooms. I get "A required field called creator is missing or has an invalid value." Is this related to Suhosin?
