great mod! But I'm having a problem with IE7.. it does not show videos (shows links only) works great on firefox.

your help is needed :)

see link: http://radio4u.co.il/radio4u/showthr...?t=50&langid=1

Thanks for your support!

Gladhatter 01-20-2009 04:53 PM

I cannot get your link to show up in IE7 http://radio4u.co.il/radio4u/showthr...?t=50&langid=1 Nowever I am not sure the ? mark in it is regexed to work or not or what the correct term for that is.

The Geek 01-20-2009 04:58 PM

I cant find the video on YouTube. Make sure it is a valid URL. Also, you may want to install and update to the 2.5 gold version

nickypoooo 01-20-2009 05:18 PM

This link works on firefox but does not show on IE7. this is going on for all vids that I try to add to post.

Thanks

The Geek 01-20-2009 05:27 PM

Again, I would try the 2.5 version

I am fairly comfortable to say if the link is removed then you will not be able to play it. If you did play the link one time however the FVl file that is actually a swf file is in your cache and you can rename it to *.swf and host it locally and play it.

Pure speculation here and not having firefox installed right now and not even learning it when I did, I digress. I believe I understand you to say that the link says it is down now.

I think I understand you to say you can see this link with firefox and it is down yet.

I do recall how fire fox ( I will call it cached) data so when you reopened it it would have the same page loaded. This leads me to wish to help you by asking if I have understood you with all the above and if the answer is yes can you have someone with firefox try to open it that has not before and cannot have it cached.

If I understand you and it is a dead link, then for sure you have to imagine that you cannot view it in IE7 and reasonably would not be able to in Firefox or anthing else that does not read a cached file.

So now is the link actually removed you are trying to view?

Your missing your height and width settings, that's why it's only showing one browser type. What do you have set for your post height and width settings in AME CP? Also, if you've upgraded to 2.5, then you should direct all your question to the new thread instead of here.

Are you talking about the Container HTML?

HTML Code:

<div align="center">
<table class="tborder" cellpadding="6" cellspacing="1" border="0" width="400" style="margin:10px 0">

No, I mean in your global post size settings. I guess if you don't know what I mean then you must be on AME 2.0, right? Which set of definitions did you download? Because Third Time's the Charm is for 2.0, but Delta is for 2.5. If you try to use my 2.5 definitions in 2.0 then you won't get any height and width defined for your videos, so in IE, the videos won't be visible.

IIRC, in 2.0 its in your settings. I would suggest upgrading to 2.5 (which is a seperate release to this older one)

Finster 01-24-2009 02:14 AM

Do to a lack of support for Goldbrick, and exemplary support for this hack, we just had someone install this, but most of the Goldbrick media tags did not convert. I also noticed that urls to .mov files uploaded to the site server do not render into anything but a hyperlink. Do we need to add that part 2 hack with all the xml conversions to fix that?

It looks like one needs 2.5 to change the video window size as all the 16:9 videos get the top and bottom cropped and they are a little small anyway.

Lastly, Exposureroom.com is the brand new but now defacto standard bearer for HD video streaming. Not much content there yet, but it smokes other HD video file sharing sites, you just have to figure out how you would add that on considering the same url appears to display for 3 different sizes of the same video, with the medium one being the best.

I REALLY wish playing the video would use a highslide lightbox effect. We left highslide in place for still images, but it doesn't work on AME videos, only the Goldbrick hack did.

I don't know exactly how Goldbrick worked, but if it used some type of BBCode, you can use AME's conversion tool to change those tags into special tags that AME uses.

Built into AME is just a few supported sites. For the full spectrum of supported sites, including support for local hosted media, you would need the definitions in my Add-On thread.

2.5 is the latest stable version in the 3.8 section, but the resizing feature of 2.5 is that you can resize your videos globally. You can still resize videos per individual definition in the AME CP. You probably would still want to upgrade to the latest version.

I maintain the Add-On threads with the collected definitions, and I periodically add sites to the request list to look over. I'll add this to the list to see what I can do. Keep an eye out there for updates.

Wouldn't work with AME as it wasn't designed originally, but there's also the fact that AME handles more the just media, so it might make for some awkward conversions.

Gladhatter 01-24-2009 07:20 PM

And I wish to add like all programs your desires really boils down to desire and means of payment along with finding a willing coder.

While AME certainly was not coded for this as indicated all things are possible up to a point and that point is nearing infinity with the right coder a hold of it.

The question then becomes as well is the money and effort worth the final expense or is there another solution that more fits your needs or do you need to do a total rewrite or almost total rewrite or a hybrid of the two ideas.

I am not wishing to come off here as any or all knowing as I know so little. What I do know is that nearly no program offered on the market ever suits our needs and most of them we justify spending more time and money that some, many or most would to get them into a form we find suitable. This can be the same principal you may wish to apply here and may not be as well. Do not want to polute this thread with what we are doing with other code but fact is some times a set of code is a good starting point and yet just needs developed further to suit the next guy down the lane.

DJ, We did convert over to 2.5...after some fiddling, a web person who actually knows what they are doing compared to me got pretty much all the previous GoldBrick media tags to convert.

Is there a way for this to NOT grab the name of the video file sharing site and auto-add it to the video title name? Or better yet, substitute in a selected name added to the video title? I bet 500 downloaders want 500 different things! lol

Instead of getting the Dreaded blue M of death thumbnail, now all the videos have screengrab stills. Finally! lol.

You ARE the strongest link! ;)

Thank you kindly sir! I only have a small idea of what has been done to create this contribution!

I can only dream of giving even a small portion back to the community in comparison! But again thanks a lot! This product really adds a lot to vBulletin use!

My best regards!

I have a notion that you click that paypal button up there and support the coder himself until you can give back to the community and help him give more and better.

Isn't it possible to add a option in the attachments upload area to specify the media type so that AME doesn't have to figure it out, but it's done manually by the uploading user?
This would be very helpful.

Short answer is yes. Longer answer is you have to write a regex definition for it in the AME cpanel OR BRIBE geek or DJ WITH HUGE amounts of money ( send it direct to me of course for transfer to them) and then you may get it done.

KIDDING about the bribery.

Any coder with regex experience or wanting to learn it can do this for you fee based.

With all the respect in the world here for this posting member but wishing to use this as an oppertunity to teach, Please read this post and tell me what possibility does the coder or anyone have to respond to this poster with any relevent information or reply?

You can read it and see it is a one liner type post with 0 information about what is not working. We can assume it was made in the correct forum and is about AME but we may be wrong about that even.

We understand the poster seems to have some issue with something not working.

The poster however failed to take the time to document anything about anything.
  1. There is no mention of what is not working. eg. My ame version XX.x is not functioning. This is the functions in that version of AME that I am having an issue with.
  2. No mention of the forum version it is used on. Is this a Vbulletin forum as we assume and to remove all doubt why not just identify it by Version of the forum if not name and version.
  3. No mention of the specifics of what is not working.
  4. No url posted that is not working.
  5. No indication of what if anything the poster has done to trouble shoot the problem.
  6. NO screen shot or idenifying information of any kind that can help anyone to help the poster.
I wish to finally and respectfully say that it is unlearned and approaching rude to do this. Here we have a coder that has put in 100s to 1000s of hours building a fine program and here now when he is clearly on a limited schedule as indicated in "not supported" to support this product and you have one person jump up and conclude almost rudely that obviously something is wrong as it is a shared problem with many and not realizing that 1000's are using it successfully and the "Something Wrong" is the hand full that are not doing the things needed to make it run right and disrespecting the coder with casting aspersions of doubt on him and not knowing as they point one finger at the coder they are pointing 4 back at themselves.

Then we find that followed by this poster that either wishes no help or else is used to a mind reader helping them or a jelous lover with a remote spy on their box that magically fixes all the issues that come up as they can see them with the remote connect software and just does not tell them they are being spied on.

Maybe this person has none of the above but thinks the community or the coder can fix the unidenified problem with out any clue as to what the problem is.

So in summation here, if you wish to post an issue and you have any reasonable expectation of any valuable help then PLEASE post enough information to allow some one to assist you.

It is not nice to say this is not working and then summon the coder to have to go through an ardous process to dig out what is not working and then try to teach the person to hit one control and turn it on as he could do had this been idenified in the first post for help made and not 25 post later when he finally finds out what it is that is not working.

works on at least 1,000 others. You need to provide more information that you are (i.e. a link to a page that isnt working and/or the URL that isnt converting).

I would also suggest using 2.5 as it .5 newer ;)

ArnyVee 02-07-2009 12:38 PM

Anyone having issues this morning with only the URL showing?

I tested it on visitor messages and regular posts. On the regular posts it shows a link to nowhere and on the visitor messages just places the text to the video title.

Anyone else know of this issue and found a fix?

ArnyVee 02-07-2009 02:45 PM

Something really weird is going on here....now I edited one of the 'non-working' links with another url from YouTube and it's showing "DIV" tags and stuff.

Here's where it's showing.... http://www.waltdisneyboards.com/disn...isneyland.html

And, this is the video I'm trying to add....

Code:

I am having issues (just started this morning) where I cannot have a YouTube (or other) video embedded correctly. I'm currently running 3.7.4, if I upgrade to 2.5 will it help with this issue?

I changed the "URL" to "AME" as someone had mentioned in the 2.5 thread (and possibly here on this thread), but it simply displays the following code on the post....

Code:

<div style="display: none;" id="ame_noshow_post_1234038437_3">
<a href="" title="YouTube" target="_blank">YouTube</a>
</div>
<div style="display: inline;" id="ame_doshow_post_1234038437_3">
<div align="center">
<table class="tborder" cellpadding="6" cellspacing="1" 425 style="margin:10px 0">
<thead>
<tr>
<td class="tcat" colspan="2" style="text-align:center">
<a href="" title="YouTube" target="_blank">YouTube</a>
</td>
</tr>
</thead>
<tbody>
<tr>
<td class="panelsurround" align="center">
<object width="425" height="350">
<param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/dZZfuCJ970w"></param>
<param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param>
<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/dZZfuCJ970w" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="350" wmode="transparent"></embed></object>
</td>
</tr>
</tbody>
</table></div>
</div>

....any thoughts?

Hi,

Great mod! Is there anyway to make this so that it works with a forum RSS feed poster bot? For example, I have break.com's feed in one of my forums, and the posts don't get the video embedded (I have the addon XML pack so they normally do). If I edit the post and click save then it works perfectly. Is there some kind of cronjob I could set up to rebuild the posts in that particular forum every so many minutes?

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Matt

hmmm... there isn't a cron job per say, however I am not sure why it wouldnt work with an RSS feed. Let me look into it.

@Arny... I responded to you in the 2.5 thread :)

Dabbi 02-13-2009 11:09 AM

Not sure why but this mod was adding an extra http to urls members would just drop into a post. It caused an error and I had to actually delete the posts since it wouldn't allow me to edit the links out.

This mod is now disabled and the problem has gone away but I'd really like to be able to allow members to embed YouTube videos so would appreciate a solution rather then my having to delete the mod.

Thanks for any help. :)

While it is surely terrible that you have this issue, please re read your post and ask your self a question. What information have I supplied in this post that gives anyone .0000001% of a chance to help me fix it.

You have not given any real symptoms of your problem, no link to your forum, no utube link you have had fail, no version of your forum, no list of addons NOT ANYTHING that can possibly allow you any help with the problem.

Dabbi 02-13-2009 12:41 PM

Here's the thread here where I originally asked for help:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=205238

UPDATE:
In searching some more I've found that there was a conflict with this mod I had installed:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=96926 I have now disabled that mod and turned this one back on. It would be handy if I could have both functioning at the same time but I can switch on and off if I need to use this HTML mod for some reason.

Gladhatter 02-13-2009 12:52 PM

Thank you for your clarifications. I will say only this to allow others with better knowledge to input. Using Html on forums has only brought me great pain and many hacks due to the vunerability of Html injections that allows hacker access.
