Any chance it can be tweaked to take advantage of hulu's (unique) ability to allow sharers to specific clips (ie: start and end point) within the video? A timeline is available on Hulu's "Share" screen, where you get the URL.

For example, I did this with the Breakfast Club sample here:

After dragging the start and end points, the default sharable URL (http://www.hulu.com/watch/1517) became:
http://www.hulu.com/watch/1517#2260:2415

I will look into that.........it should be able to start and stop.....

Awesome, thanks... while you are at it, can you make sure that

http://www.hulu.com/embed/1517 works as well as http://www.hulu.com/watch/1517

(only the latter format works, but the former is the first link a user sees)

How about a plug-in for the crowd-pleasing humor site, THE ONION?

Sample vid:

hoffi, what exactly is "ebay affilate"? I am not sure what that is, other then a part of ebay.

Tralala 12-08-2007 06:22 PM

The AME Amazon plug-in doesn't seem to cooperate with this one
Dynamically Create Amazon Links to use your associate id

Here's a similar, but newer version I'm about to try: Dynamic Amazon links

Is there any way that AME can handle the tasks of both? That is, convert any Amazon links to have the Amazon logo, use the name of the product (as it already does) and lastly, use the Amazon Associates ID in the URL? That'd be ideal...

hotwheels 12-08-2007 06:25 PM

Tralala, what is the amazon for? Isn't it a store? Are people wanting to use amazon on their webpages? I have seen this requested before, but never really understood what the user is wanting from the amazon page........

hotwheels

Yes, Amazon.com is the internet's biggest and most well-known store. They sell nearly everything and have hundreds of thousands of partner marketplaces. Their online catalog is pretty much a directory of any purchasable product. :p

AME's default installation already includes an Amazon plugin. It takes a long AmazonURL and converts into the name of the product being linked to, next to a nice Amazon logo. So, for example, this:
http://www.amazon.com/1-Habits-Highl...pd_sim_b_img_1
would be converted to this:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2007/12/22.jpgThe 7 1/2 Habits of Highly Humorous People

Amazon also has an "associates" program that a lot of webmasters are a part of. Link to a product and include your associates "referrer ID" and you get a small commission. So there are plug ins for vBulletin that automatically convert any Amazon URL in a forum, to include the webmaster's "associates" referrer ID.

My suggestion, since these two add-ons appear to conflict with each other, was to create an AME plug-in that accomplished both tasks.

Hoffi 12-09-2007 08:27 AM

I use AME for Amazon. Just edit the Replacement with your ID that it fits.

eBAy Affilinet I mean. Partnertprogram in Germany.

Are Blogs also Changed? That would be great.

Hoffi 12-09-2007 09:08 AM

Just another Questtion.

I am Affilinet Partner for Clipfish. So I want to change the Link in the Title to the Video-Page to an Affilint-Link. Is that possible?

Where in the HTML replacement do you put the ID?

HTML Code:

<a href="http://www.amazon.$p1/$p2/$p3/" target="_blank" title="$title"><img src="images/misc/amazon_icon.gif" border="0" alt="$title" />$title </a>

How exactly do you do this? I'm having the same issue that Tralala is having.

Blogs do not seem to benefit from this add-on, unfortunately. If anyone knows how to extend functionality to blogs, that would be great. :)

Does someone have an example of the amazon affiliate program i can see in action to get an idea of what the .xml should be?

As far as the blog part goes with video's, etc.....this really isn't my mod and i am not sure if i can mess with the actual code......I don't mind doing regular expressions for links, since that is what this mod is for.

I see that too... but my issue is, I am trying to embed a video from the regular www.jumpcut.com site, like this one:

http://www.jumpcut.com/view?id=EC9CB...DD000423CF037A

and AME is struggling to find a file called http://media.www.jumpcut.com/media/.flv

I suppose it would work if the replacement HTML wasn't inserting that "media" prefix???

Go to your amecp, and then display. Delete the old jumpcut.xml

I tested 7 different jumpcut video's and they all worked.......

Not working for me.

Just tried this as a sample:

It just leaves the URL, doesn't convert it at all.

My bad.....When i snooped the url, I left a / in the xml which didn't need to be there......and i am at work right now, so i don't have my software with me to change the xml........If you put a / right after "view" it will work........ www.jumpcut.com/view/

I will fix it tonight.......

I have been thinking about doing that......Right now this entire thread is kind of a mess. We have xml's here and in another thread........Maybe i will start a new xml thread and add all of the video site's i have that are currently working. I believe at last count, i have over 75 working xml video sites......and the wonderful thing about this mod is the fact that you can pick and choose from the 75 xmls........

Would me starting a new xml add on thread be the way to go or what? I know i have asked this before and never really got anywhere with an answer.....

This was supposed to be the add on xml thread: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=157109 But sadly, the thread owner hasn't really had time to keep up with all of the xml's that have been made........if a person was to take time and go through that thread and this thread, they would find all of the xml's..........

I think starting a new thread is the way to go. You could offer up a current zip, and update the first post with new XML files as they get shared. The new thread would supersede the other one and serve as the official companion to this one.

At least, that's my 2 cents...

Tralala 12-10-2007 04:18 PM

I'm having a weird issue with AME (and one of my skins, it seems?)

It works fine with replies. But it doesn't work when a video clip URL is included in the first post of a thread. It's simply left as a clickable URL.

If the poster goes in and edits the post afterwards, removing the [url] and [/url] tags that get added, it works. But it's not autoconverting to an embedding video clip like it should.

What should I be looking for, in this specific skin? (It's Aqua-Soft, by the way.)

I've investigated and now see the issue. The skin I'm using doesn't show this checkbox option in the Post/Reply composition window:

"Automatically embed media (requires automatic parsing of links in text to be on)."

It's there on the default VB skin, but not on my custom one, and I have to believe that's why the embedding's not working on the first post.

So... how can I add this checkbox option/line to my custom skin?
