I've tried everything but it still doesn't work
this problem is really going to drive me crazy when I run Sitemap Generator I get this: Code:
[homepage] [4,267.6Kb mem used] [0s (+0s)] https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/attachmen...7&d=1209676127 and when I press on the link that gives me this sentence: Sitemap file not found so what's wrong? and why it gives me the link ends with sitemap_index.xml not with sitemap_index.xml.gz as it should and as it is with the other people? is there anyway I can get it work? |
MissKalunji,
you should submit http://yourforumsroot/sitemap_index.xml.gz Super Jinni, please PM me your vbseo_sitemap URL/password so that I can check that. |

Oups, here is the right thread ...
So, how is it possible that the file sitemap_index.xml.gz is in root whereas all the others ( sitemap_x.xml.gz) are elsewere? Google demands the index to be in the root, but its impractical to have 30-40 files in the root. :) |
Super Jinni ,
replied to your PM. MissKalunji, Quote:
Exposed_Bone, it is possible using rewrite rules in .htaccess file. |

in the zip file you have all the info you need on how and what to put
|
I checked the files and didn't find anything related. However my question is:
All the search engines require the site index to be in the root folder. However vbseo creates it in www.company.com/[...]/vbseo_sitemap/data. How can I change sth like that? There isn't even an option from the admin panel. Also, would it be possible to only have the index in root and not all the zipped files, in order to reduce the file clutter in the root folder. |
There's an .htaccess re-write that makes them appear at the root level.. check it out.

Should i edit the .htaccess located in the root?
|
It depends if you already have an .htaccess file in your forum root... look at the readme in the docs folder, there are installation and upgrade instructions. I think the part you want is this:
B. Enable rewriting via .htaccess (vBSEO Users skip this step): Upload the vBSEO Google/Yahoo Sitemap .htaccess file (located in the 'htaccess' folder) to your forum root. Note: In some operating systems, the .htaccess file is not visible. If this is your case, find the htaccess.txt file in the same folder, (1) upload it to your forum root folder and (2) rename it to .htaccess. Note: If you already have an .htaccess file in your forum root, DO NOT upload the vBSEO Google/Yahoo Sitemap .htaccess file as it will replace the contents of this file. Instead, enter the following code in your 'forum-root/.htaccess' file at the bottom: Code:
RewriteEngine On Eric |
Perfect, it is work ...
1000 thanks |
nevermind.... found the answer

Is this mod also compatible with 3.7.0 ?
|

I am using Zoints, is that works on me ??

Hi there -
I have followed all of the directions and when I have it generate the sitemap it seems to be generating it, however it is not writing it to my sites root. This is on a clean install of 3.7.0 and a new site. We are in the process of getting the site set up and running. Here is what I see when I run the sitemap generator. Code:
[homepage] [2,649.8Kb mem used] [0s (+0s)] Code:
Report Details I have the chmod set to 777 on the data folder, I checked my providor to make sure they support mod_rewrite and they do. I have the .htaccess file set up just like this: Code:
AddHandler x-httpd-php5 .php |
It's not designed to save them to the root. Read the instructions - that's why you need to add lines to .htaccess - the files are saved to {forum_root_}/vbseo_sitemap/data/

sitemap_1.xmp.gz sitemap_index.xml.gz urllist.txt.gz are being saved in {forum_root_}/vbseo_sitemap/data/ This is the exact /htaccess file I am using. Am I suppose to change something here? Code:
AddHandler x-httpd-php5 .php vbulletin is in the www.argoswow.com/vb - I am using vBAdvanced with its index.php in the root of my site and the forums index.php is located in the /vb. Do I need to put specific patch information into the .htaccess? |
Your sitemap looks ok: http://www.argoswow.com/vb/sitemap_index.xml.gz
|
WHen I submit that to Google - it comes back showing status of ERRORS and is not submitting any links.
Sorry to sound new to all this. |
What exactly is the error you get? Click "details" to find out.

I get this error with both www.allaroundkc.com and with www.fastfoodphooey.com but the www.argoswow.com seems to be working. |
What is your .htaccess contents in both cases?

Code:
AddHandler x-httpd-php5 .php |
