*Quick-Ban needed... "/ban username"

A tip: If you want your ShoutBox to be more enjoyable, download and install GetSmile... 1600+ animated & non-animated emoticons, smilies... Drag & Drop works on ShoutBox =) You can also add flash transparent bb code and send high volume sound effects to surprise members -)

Customized version: http://www.msxlabs.com/forum/index.php#ChatBox

I'm not sure if it's already listed but I might of over-looked it but.. A "# of shouts per day" limit would be useful for some users/usergroups that post non-sense over and over and over again.

divided_by_fear 11-22-2005 06:58 PM

i dont think this will be updated i even tried to write the coder but he dont seem to answer this thread or pms...

ZGeek 11-22-2005 10:18 PM

I've tried installing this on 3.5.1 but I can't see it anywhere on my forum. I've got all the bits in the control panel, just no shout box appearing.

Anyone got any idea?

oz_moses 11-22-2005 11:08 PM

Hi ZGeek, I'm about to install this one myself also.. just can't ftp from work.

Have you installed the CMPS module also?

oz_moses 11-22-2005 11:12 PM

dude, have you uploaded the vbshout.php file to your forums root?

I tried http://forum.zgeek.com/vbshout.php but it's coming up page can't be displayed

ZGeek 11-23-2005 12:23 AM

Its not on that forum. This ones for my works intranet :P

oz_moses 11-23-2005 04:06 AM

can imagine it would be chaos if you did install it there!

I should be putting it back on TheDrunk tonight, can let you know how it goes.

oz_moses 11-23-2005 09:40 AM

I go the 'loading...' message, but this is cause I'm a dumbass and upload the vbshout.xml to the forumroot as opposed to the vbshout.php file.

Fixed this and it's all sweet now - if only there were a way to breathtest users before they can shout, though that would defeat the purpose of my site... wouldn't it!

The only resolutiuon as of now is to set the banned user option to not allowed to see shout box.

This Mod Rocks!!!

Patria 11-25-2005 01:41 AM

Could you provide a limited number of rooms (like in other chat systems) to vbShout?

You can use his vBChat hack cause it's already a built-in feature. ;)

kafi 11-25-2005 04:47 PM

Hi everybody I have this problem:

admin edits are saved and showing correctly

users edits have two mistakes:
1. edit is not shown on vbshout, only in archive
2. edited text is visible only in archive, but due coding issues it is showing anything else but letters.

I persume, that this has someting with permisions features. Does anybody has any idea where the problem could be solved?

Thank you for the suggestion but I dont like vBChat. It doesnt support special chars and cant be integrated as part of the forumhome. :tired:

I'm sorry then, I can't do much about it. Here, maybe try to PM him for an update of the hack or something?

Hi all,

I strongly recommend to the vbulletin staff to remove this plugin.
Anyone uses it will notice a high performance drop due to the automated refresh.
I don't have anything against Zero Tolerance, but if he's a coder he should know automated refresh would kill any server with some people online. Just don't install this plugin if you have more than 10 users online :-P

Regards,
MainFrame

divided_by_fear 11-27-2005 05:28 AM

um i have alot more then that come on at times... i dont think it should be removed just fixed up a bit.... also it dont even affect my server load... Server Load 0.04 (4 cpus)
Memory Used 19.7 % so no clue how you came up with that.....

For example: if you have 1000 users online. Due to the auto refresh it would generate 1000 page request on vbshout.php every 10 seconds. thats 60.000 page requests every minute.. do you think your server is up for it? not to mention your bandwidth..

How to remove autoupdate

// removing autoupdate
edit the template forumhome_vbshout and remove the below code
Code:

setTimeout('requestShouts()', 10000)
// Adding the refresh button
edit the template forumhome_vbshout and add the below code were you wish to display the refresh button
Code:

<input type='button' class='button' value='Refresh' name='refresh' onclick='requestShouts()' />

divided_by_fear 11-27-2005 05:41 AM

well i got a dual xeon with 2 gbs of ram and 2000 gbs bandwidth so its pretty much good to go.... but i havent seen nothing wrong with it so far.... it all depends on alot of factors too... how long you allow your connections to last and so on... i agree it does need improvements but i dont think we will ever see them... i personally like the auto refresh some may not...

Snake 11-27-2005 10:59 AM

What the hell is wrong with you guys? Can't you see ZT is extremely busy with his "other" hack which is Inferno? Geez give him a break! He's not some kind of a robot or something. Once he's done with his vB Inferno hack, he should be back providing support and even add more features to it.

eNforce 11-27-2005 07:37 PM

Would someone be able to help me get the custom font/colors to work in the Shoutbox?

I'm using this mod here:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=93395

Synth 11-27-2005 11:29 PM

I just noticed that when you click the name of a person IN the shout box that it's going to a wrong dir /member.php, I need to add a dir in front of that. Where do I find the code? Seems like I've searched everywhere :ermm:

Is there a way to prevent people who havent got a certain amount of posts to use the shout box yet?

1. Add a additional usergroup called "Shoutbox Users".
2. Limit the use of the Shoutbox only to this group. (AdminCP-vbShout Options)
3. Created a new Promotion that add users with a specified amount of posts to this usergroup (Promotion Type: Additional Usergroups).

With step two, I can only list usergroups that CANT use the shoutbox, while I could just list every user group appart from the shoutbox users one, this would prove tiresome when adding new groups. Is there anyway to simplify this?

When I use this with Aria (and presumably other skins) the background of the title for the shoutbox is the default styles one, not Aria's. Any help on fixing this?

Hi SyaveDebonaire ... did this help out with bandwidth issues did you find ? if so could I have a copy of that edited vbshout.php please?

Rukas 12-01-2005 03:36 AM

What happens when a usergroup is banned? Can they still see the shoutbox, just not post? Cause my band usergroup gets the following error:

Warning: array_reverse(): The argument should be an array in /vbshout.php on line 282

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /vbshout.php on line 288

Id like banned user groups to still SEE the posts, but not be able to post, like unregistered or not logged in users.
