In your admin control panel Cyb Chat

Set the position of the chat box to "disable" then farther down, check "place link in navi bar"

That will set your box to another page using the link on your navi bar or you can also choose to link from a drop down menu.

Is there an equivalent of "Tachy Goes to Coventry" aka "hellban" for this chatbox? There's a dangerous user who's been known to hack and spread viruses and I can't ban him normally. I want him to think he's posting/chatting normally.

mgurain 12-14-2008 12:49 PM

It's working fine with English
but does not accept Arabic Messages!

sleepyboy2004 12-14-2008 04:39 PM

Does anyone have a list of commands that work on this chat box? ie; /me....... ?? Thats ths only one that I know! I got a regular user that is banning ppl! I dont know how he is doing it. So I'm thinking some kind of IRC command? ANy help please!

HabbStar 12-14-2008 04:49 PM

Anyone know how i can remove the underline from under peoples names

All help appreciated, thanks

Valter 12-15-2008 06:58 PM

sleepyboy,
"/me" is the only one. User banning/message deletion is done via message menus in ChatBox Archive. There is no way that regular user can use this functions.

HabbStar,
"cyb_chatbox_bit" template
Add:
Code:

style="text-decoration:none"
after:
Code:

href="member.php?$session[sessionurl]u=$cybcb_msg_box[userid]"

Great mod - very very simple, and functional. Great job brother. I'd love the ability to make chat 'private' between a few members, but beyond that, love it.

erateinow 12-16-2008 03:33 PM

For some odd reason users disappeared!... from Currently Active Users and become as off line users but they are still online, and they can participate in chat box...

Also if no body write something in the chatbox after 20-25 minutes it "stuck" for all the users which are on line and it get start again only if a NEW user login and write something...

How can I correct this problem..

glennybee 12-16-2008 08:46 PM

Excellent hack! Been using the MGC for a while but this is far quicker and more responsive.

Thanks very much! :)

For those who are using it, does this use significant server resources?

Digital Jedi 12-20-2008 04:36 AM

It mainly depends on your servers capabilities. Some people are running small forums with little activity and tremendous slowdown, and some are running large boards with little or no noticeable effect. You'll only really be able to tell if you test it yourself under your forums unique circumstances.

furst 12-20-2008 05:27 AM

Just installed and it looks good. Better feature set than MGC shoutbox. The only thing I miss is the ability to edit shouts by double clicking on them. Oh, and I may have also noticed a slowdown in my forum... but I'm not sure about that yet. I'll know after using it for a while longer.

Thank you!

vBulletin 3.7.4 PL1 and vBAdvanced CMPS v3.1.0

I have followed the directions to the tee, when it comes to adding this to vbadvanced...and cannot find the answer within this thread.

I have vbadvanced installed outside of the forums directory and the "ChatBox Full" link appears in both navbars of my forum skins, but not in the navbar of vbadvanced.

Can anyone recommend an answer to this problem?

Saviour 12-21-2008 03:07 PM

Too many bugs...no support...uninstalled.

FlashChat is much better, anyway!

Digital Jedi 12-21-2008 08:24 PM

No support? You waited one day for an answer on the busiest holiday week of the year. Not being able to install an option which is not the main part of the mod is not really a bug either.

GSeybold 12-21-2008 09:02 PM

I've had this for a few weeks now. Easiet install ever, no problems at all.:D

Like I said, no support...

One example: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost....&postcount=134

Nobody ever even bothered to answer this person's question.

BTW...24 hours is ample time to wait for a reply to a support question, regardless of what day of the year it is.

Also, if someone is going to submit a mod...and not support it...why not state that in the information about the mod.

I grow weary of these excuses that this person, or that person has a lot of mods they've created...and might not have the time to get around to supporting them all. My answer to that is...slow down and only contribute what you can supply support for.

When a coder submits a mod...and this mod does what it says it's going to do...and they supply the support they said they would when they submitted the mod...I make sure that coder gets the credit and the praise they deserve.

Then we have people like you who have to make it a point to interrupt someone's request for support with crap that doesn't even warrant a response.

Was your last post in this thread helpful at all?

I think not! Merry Christmas! Bah-humbug!

GSeybold 12-21-2008 09:18 PM

OMG! WIth no respect. You are a jerk! How dare you chastise something you are getting for FREE! These coders are NOT at your beck and call and you should be damn grateful you get this stuff for free and aren't paying a ton of money for special coding. I've very pleased and VERY grateful for all the free mods here and you should be TOO! TAKER! If you cannnot handle the technical aspects of things, don't download them. I don't. And if there is a problem, try being a a adult about it perhaps:mad:

Apparently, you're the jerk...because you failed to read and/or understand the whole post...

I quote myself:

So...how dare you tell me to "be an adult"...

I downloaded and installed this mod...and came a cross a few problems with it...just like everyone else..."bugs"...that have still not been addressed.

If you have this chatbox unavailable to guests...and they click the link in the navbar...they're taken to smiley descriptions. Like I said, "bug" and it still hasn't been addressed.

I stated I installed this mod...and uninstalled it due to the fact there are several bugs that haven't been addressed. I'm entitled to my opinion and I've expressed it...and have subsequently uninstalled this mod.

Now why don't you go back through the 50+ pages of questions and reply to those who have uninstalled this mod for the same reasons...with the same sort of reply you have given me.

Cybernetic has some great mods...that's a gimme. I have another of his mods installed with no complaints. I'm not knocking the coder...just the lack of support for the mod...

So why don't you lay off the coffee for a while...and chill.

When and if the bugs are fixed for this mod...it may in fact be worth paying for...and I probably would, too.

For a free mod made in the author's spare time? It's not unusual for support to take days, even weeks. Sickness, vacation, family needs, work demands, all kinds of things can throw response time up in the air.

Well, technically I didn't interrupt your request for support, since you had already untinsalled the modification and no longer needed it. I was responding to your comment and pointing out something that too many folks on this site seem to be misinformed on.

The excuse is, really, that they need none. There's no expectation that support is supposed to come in any expected time frame. Indeed, it is Christmas, and a fair number of authors on the site are likely not even going to be home for the next week or until the new year. Support is, and always has been at the author's discretion/convenience. This stuff isn't exactly putting food on their table.

I understand, completely...and apologize to you, Digital Jedi...however, sometimes users can get frustrated at the littlest things...yet, I do give credit where credit is due.

Thank you for taking the time to kindly reply to my concerns...

Merry Christmas...

Merry Christmas...

I understand, and I hope I didn't go too off topic. I just think it's something that doesn't get said a lot and I'm a stickler against misinformation. Hope you have a good week. Let us know if you reinstall so we can address the actual problem.

Michigan Morels 12-22-2008 06:23 AM

WOW!

 Half scared to post now. Go easy on me. LOL

My question is this:
The chat seems to lock up my IE7 browser after using it for several minutes. I switch to FireFox and never have this problem.

I don't mean that the chat locks on loading... or something. It seems to lock my browser completely! I can close it, delete cookies and temp internet files and bring it back up, and it is okay again for awhile.

This only happens when I am in chat for some time.

Any solutions or suggestions?

 I really like this mod because it is so simple.
I don't need or want private rooms, IM's and the like. Just a simple chat like this one is.

But having to close out our browsers (IE), all the time is a bummer for my users and I.

Don't nobody hit me. I come in peace! he he

Merry Christmas to you all!

andreamarucci 12-22-2008 08:20 AM

I've used chatbox with no problems at all. Now i've downloaded the new version, installed it and the result is

Quote:

Your submission could not be processed because a security token was missing.
Any clue on what happened? The previous version worked without a glitch...

andreamarucci 12-22-2008 08:24 AM

OMG I forgot that I had the same problem some time ago with 2.2 and I've deleted 2.2 and reinstalled 2.1 that worked. I forgot that :-( Any clue to have back the version 2.1? Thanks

andreamarucci 12-22-2008 08:27 AM

Cyb sorry for disturbing you. I've downloaded 2.1 from this thread, installed it and everything is working fine. Any suggestion on why I can't install versions bigger than 2.1?

synisterk 12-23-2008 03:00 PM

This is great. Good way to keep the normal chit chat off the forums.

Valter 12-23-2008 06:43 PM

Andrea,

Ensure that hack templates are unmodified, and try with clearing forum cookies.

Reminisce32 12-23-2008 07:51 PM

im scared to use this since i got hacked 3 times this past weekend but i just love it.. can any elite computer people vouch to whether this chatbox is exploitable or not? like can people upload exploits or type my sql statements through this shoutbox and gain access to stiff? how safe is this chatbox?

apiasto 12-24-2008 11:24 AM

i ve been using this hack n love it but just found one problem.some of my usergroup members can delete their own messages even though i checked no for that option if users can delete their own messages.any idea ?

larrys42 12-24-2008 08:09 PM

Can you add pruning commands

apiasto 12-25-2008 10:56 AM

and is it possible to add a buzzer in your future mod?

sheep92032 12-26-2008 11:31 AM

Still needs a submit button - doesn't work on some browsers.

sheep92032 12-26-2008 11:58 AM

I tried adding it myself but it won't update. I don't think the uninstallation code is working.

I also write a lot of opensource applications much more complicated than a simple chatbox and am still able to reply to support posts within a day. He's just being lazy (yes i do understand that it's christmas now, but he hardly ever replies to posts here).

Valter 12-26-2008 06:36 PM

Submit button is there, and it's standard html button. If some browser can not see it then it does not deserve to be called a web browser. Make screenshot of ChatBox on your forums, I would like to see what problem you have.
