I seem to have a problem with it - the changes I make to the permissions of each channel is not saved - I have to manually recreate the channel also -

we have created two additional channels and tried several different thing in the "name" setting. It seems that we cannot figure out what file to tell it to look to for the icon. we have tried the nosel and sel despite the fact that the instruction is not to.

Is the tweak for the tone a customiztion that you would be willing to contract on? If so could you quote me a charge via pm?

Also, how do we get the commands to work---particularly the one to clear the screen.

I've sorted it out VBDev :) - but it seems to be quite slow when refreshing the box.

Where can I edit the message that is sent to users that are banned?

This is what is sent now:

Dear ****,

You haven't repescted the rules, thus causing your ban from the chatbox.

I just need to correct the spelling but I can't find any place to change it.


EDIT:

I found this text string in the mgc_cb_evo_cmd_ban.xml file. I corrected the spelling and saved the xml file. Then I deleted the ban command and re-imported the corrected xml file. It had no effect on the message sent to a banned user.

What am I missing? This text really should be made editable in the Admin CP.

Nothing in advanced options for changing it..... or anywhere else. Any idea why deleting the command, then importing the xml file with the corrected spelling didn't change anything? In which file is that text actually stored once the chatbox is installed?

Another thing I've noticed is that I cannot change my default chat color as an admin. No problem with changing regular registered users color. I can select a color in the admin cp and save, but it always goes back to white. I the previous version I had installed, this was not a problem.

All of the problems I am experiencing are minor. Overall, this is a great addon. Nice work!

Use specific commands : some commands can be accessible in the chatbox depending on the will of the administrator(s) of your forum. These commands let you execute specific actions of formatting, management, etc... You will herebelow the information on the command which are accessible to you. You must notice that you are not forced to use the command prefixes (/command_name) when you use them in the channel they are attached to (except in the general channel).*




There is no list and the /del all does not work.

I still cannot make the other channels images appear either.

Please help.

I think you should install the del command in order to be able to use it :)

I have a color selected from the dropdown list and the setting is retained when I click the 'Update' button, However, all of my chats still appear white. This only happens in the Administrators usergroup. The setting works ok for the registered users group.

An interesting note, the description in the box is: Default color (without the #)

However every selection in the dropdown list has the # sign before the RGB color number. Not sure that means anything, but it does hint to me that you may have intended this box to be a text entry field instead of selecting from a dropdown list.

1) go back to your downloaded folder
2) In that folder there is a folder called Commands -- open that
3) In the Commands folder there is a product file (product-mgc_cb_evo_cmd.xml) --upload that via the vbulletin Manage products (Admincp---> plugins & products --->Manage products---> Click Add/Import Products
4) Next Open the EN folder (or your language folder)
5) In there there is a read me file. The english instructions are after the french ones.

I think they were fairly clear but if you have a problem post again---I will check back.

Could anyone please help me!!

I still cannot get my second and third channel icons to show up.

I have moved the image files. I have tried a variety of different names in this box

Please HELP!!! Why is the chatbox continuously loading!? I loaded all the files in (file folder) to forum/ and loaded all images of (image folder) to each style I had... Changed settings and loaded the en script. ??? What did I do wrong???

There was a problem with older version of the chatbox. However, if you have correctly upgraded there shouldn't be any problem.

What I don't understand is that you're getting an error for one group but not the other, which is totally impossible.

Perhaps you have also changed your color in your usercp ? (options)

For each channel, you have 3 gif images which ends like that:
  • _sel.gif (image displayed when channel is selected)
  • _nosel.gif (image displayed when channel is not selected)
  • _new.gif (image displayed when the channel contains new message, if warn system is active)
This is why it says to not put the end of the image name.

For example, if you name your images :
  • mychannel_sel.gif
  • mychannel_nosel.gif
  • mychannel_new.gif
You would put in that field : mychannel

I think he means to have the chatbox load in collapsed mode by default. I would be interested in this as well. That is, when a user loads the page with the chatbox, it's by default in collapsed mode with the buttons and input fields hidden. Only the chat is shown. User has to click un-collapse button if he wants to enter a message. Hope you understood that. :)

I took a quick browse through the comments to see if anyone has had the same problem.

Anyhow I installed this and really like it but had to disable it due to some serious lag in the chatbox between users. Everyones commented that their chats are taking too long to appear. Any idea why this is happening and how I could fix it since I'd like to continue to use this chat box.

AdminCP > MGC Chatbox EVO > General Options > Refresh time delay (in seconds)

This defaults to 30 seconds when you install chatbox. I wouldn't recommend setting it below 10 seconds though. This addon isn't really designed to handle a large volume of live chat. I use it on my arcade pages just so users can communicate with each other. It works great for that purpose. I didn't want to use my regular chat system on the arcade pages.

On my site, I also use a product called Addonchat, which integrates into vBulletin very well. They have a free version and several paid versions. (I use the Professional Plus... $125/year) The companies server handles the chat which is ok.... it uses their bandwidth, not yours. Read all about it here: http://www.addonchat.com/

The product works very well and has my highest recommendation.

I have it loaded into "/public_html/includes/clientscript/" is this the correct location, or should it be in "/public_html/clientscript/" along with the vbulletin.js ??
