My quick reply is broken, the same as here.

If I turn off display in forumhome or above threads or wherever, Quick Reply remains broken.

If I disable MGC chatbox mod in "Manage Products", then my Quick Reply remains broken.

The mod has broken something major, and I need to revert it quickly as I am already getting emails from users complaining about the broken forum.

Does the button work ? Which browser are you using ? Coz I don't experience that neither on ie7 nor ff2

Import the language file:
In the admincp, go in : Languages & Phrases >> Download / Upload Languages
Click on the Browse button and select the language file from the l folder
In the overwrite language dropwdown, select the language in which you want to install the chatbox phrases.
Select yes for Ignore language version.
Click on import

using ie 7

And if you uninstall the new version of the chatbox ?

Perhaps this is a problem of language import If you didn't made it well this is a possibility.

Ok there seem to be a problem with the language file, import the initial one from vbulletin.

I temporarly remove the chatbox and will put it back in about 12H (once I get back from work)

On forumhome you don't need to do that

yeah and the pm channel seems to be odd :S i mean like i said when i enter a msg on the pm channel the msg goes to the main channel instead and everyone could see the msg

vbDev, I'm afraid your product has broken my forum and I can't fix it.

I have:

Uninstalled the 2 MGC products.
Removed the template modifications in the readme.
Re-installed the original language file from the 3.6.7 /install folder.

And still my quick reply is broken.

This is really bad news. And really stupidly I did not do a full backup before this upgrade, because it's a "simple upgrade".

Try UNINSTALLING Quick Reply and REINSTALLING. if that doesnt manage then im quite not sure, and his product has indeed damaged your forum. But don't hold him liable, its not his fault, he can not forsee every bug in this product

I assume you mean "disable" and then "enable" quick reply in vbulletin options? When I refer to Quick Reply I mean the standard vbulletin quick reply, not a mod I can uninstall.

The only trace of MGC I have left is in the language file - I'm not sure how to reinstall a fresh copy of the original language. When I install it, it just overwrites existing entries and leaves the additional MGC entries behind.

I'm not holding vbdev liable, just looking for his help to fix my forum, because he is most likely to know what happened in the 1.4 upgrade that cause my forum (and other people's too) to break.

All your problems come from the language error.

As a matter of fact, as vbulletin language file is default, you should try to overwrite the english one by the master which is in the install folder.

However I am not 100% sure of that so you might ask jelsoft team first to be sure. This would be a precaution.

You are correct though. The solution is to create a new language. No need to update from the /install file, as it is already populated. Make this new language selectable, and the default, and all is fixed...

how about the pm channel ? when a user want to send a pm to i see the blinking on the pm channel and when i try to respond on that pm chanenl the msg will display on the main channel and not on the on pm channel...

There are no blinking on the PM channel.

As I already told you for the PM channel, you can't just send the message without entering again the pm command as you might pm anyone you want.

To answer a private shout, even in the pm channel, you have to enter the command again before your text, this is why I have added the pen to easier command entering.

Which version do you have installed now ?

Could you try plz to sum up all your problems before entering a post ? Coz this makes too many messages and I think it could easier things if you just wait before facing all problems and reporting them.

btw then heres a feature request, if possible can u make it possible to have the user in a list on a pm channel and select a user u wish to chat with and engage a live chat with that person privately without using a pm command

@VBDev; Thanks for your insight. I have resolved it by setting the correct charset in the Language Manager of vBulletin, this field was empty, it's now filled with utf-8, and the error is gone.

Another question:
I have the shoutbox on all pages and when I go to my who's online page, I can see that everyone is inside the "MGC Chatbox" instead of the page they are really on, what they are doing etc etc (default who's online functionality)... This has always been a problem at every chat/shoutbox I came passed.
EWT Chatbox has resolved this by messing with the session management etc, I don't know the details though. Is it possible to have an option in the future that can enable such functionality?

Could you ckeck in your database if you have the touserid field in the mgc_chatbox field ?

I was speaking of chatbox version, the product and files are the one from the 1.4 that's right ?

For that feature, my anwser will be no sorry, this would complicate the chatbox too much and it would become a chat which is what I don't want !

As a matter of fact, chatbox ajax calls makes the session table to be updated this is the reason why user are shown as being in chatbox.

I unfortunately don't know a lot about vbulletin session so I can't promise you anything on that part :)

So the only issue I have left is that Quick Reply situation.
I've read through all the posts this morning, and saw that there seems to be a temporary solution via a new language.

Can someone walk me through the steps?

The language file revisions also caused the polls to display extremely long graphs (far beyond screen width - massive scrolling), as percentages were displayed in thousands. I created the new language and this seems to have fixed everything that I was aware to be in error. I chose to name this new language "English" in lieu of "English (US)". Note that you do not have to upload any files. You simply go to Language Manager, click the Add New Language Button, type a new name and save. You then need to edit the new language and set Is Default Language to "Yes", and subsequently edit the original language file to set Allow User Selection to "No".

However, while making this fix I noticed that there were three default fields in the new language which were pre-filled on the new language yet blank on the original "English (US)" language settings. Could this be a simple fix of entering these values back into the original language settings? See these below:

• HTML Character Set = ISO-8859-1
• Number Formatting = .
• Thousands Separator = ,

I changed these settings to match in the original "English (US)" language file and it seems to have fixed my poll problem even when I set the original to default. I assume the missing period from the number formatting was translating 50% to 5000%. Try this out prior to creating a new language and see if it addresses all havoc and woe.

Make sure your original language file is still on your server in the install folder (see here).

Then go to Language Manager, and add a new language. Press save and it will fill it up with all the standard phrases. In "Settings" for this new language, make it selectable and make it the default.

All will be fixed, except that the chatbox will be in French!
